Could you give some examples of a game with a reasonable budget developed by a big company, based on an IP with a similar background. I expect as much from smaller companies or for a slightly larger company to produce a doujin game that was developed by other people, but this seems like it is being built from the ground-up by Capcom.
This is totally different from a cleaned-up NEC or Interchannel DC/PS2 port.
You're assuming that this will have a reasonable budget and that Capcom's arcade division qualifies as a big company. :lol
Both Koei (
Strawberry Porno) and Enix (
Lolita Syndrome) were involved in the adult games market in the early years, and more recently, adult PC games have crossed over into notably less adult multimedia events; look at most of Key's products, for example.
If this turns out to be actual Capcom development, it might be a first for development actually being farmed out to a respectable company, but it likely would say more about the current state of Capcom's arcade division than about Type-Moon's gradual climb of the stairs of respectability.
Not to mention, in the past year or so, both Fate/tiger coliseum (based off this very franchise; PSP, dev. Cavia, pub. Capcom) and Melty Blood Act Cadenza (based off their previous, selfpublished franchise; ARC/PS2, dev. Ecole, pub. Sega) have been released.
