Think, uh, One Piece.

STORY
A thousand years have passed since the events of the original FINAL FANTASY CRYSTAL CHRONICLES. The destruction of the Yuke Crystal during the Great War had at once brought the victorious Lilty Tribe prosperity, the defeated Yuke Tribe apparent annihilation, and the world a new age of science and reason. In this new era exists a rare breed of powerful beings called "crystal bearers," whose seemingly magical abilities have led them to be feared and scorned by the public. The young mercenary Layle is one such crystal bearer, who has been hired to escort the new passenger airship Alexis, the pinnacle of Lilty technology and a symbol of their current dominance. However, when the Alexis is suddenly besieged by a horde of monsters, Layle comes face-to-face with an adversary thought to have vanished from the pages of history, on a quest that may threaten the future of the world...

It's only a 3 second clip in the trailer so most didn't notice it.

Sure, but when's the last time an FF game was released in the US 1-2 months after Japan?Shadowlink said:Are you serious? We've been waiting for this game for about 3-4 years. :lol
I guess it's now fair game to shit on the previous five minor ones? :lol EDIT: Oops, seven--sorry two Crystal Defenders.PR said:First Major FINAL FANTASY Experience for Wii Available This Holiday Season
That's always been a bit of a wildcard, but if it's really going to show up in the short time span between a major DS effort and XIII, it seems pretty boned.marc^o^ said:I wonder how this game will perform in Japan.
Yeah its crazy that they would be releasing three FF games in a span of less than three months, let alone three single-player RPG/adventure type games. And based on the hype level of the games, its also obvious that FFXIII is completely drowning out both FF Gaiden and Crystal Bearers, which is unfortunate because both these games actually sound like solid efforts from SE (compared to the FF spinoffs from the last few years).JoshuaJSlone said:That's always been a bit of a wildcard, but if it's really going to show up in the short time span between a major DS effort and XIII, it seems pretty boned.
EatChildren said:Clearly SE want Crystal Bearers to fail the test, so they can have an excuse to never support a Nintendo home system again.
But you won't defeat me, SE. I'm going to import your game. Across the ocean, I will fight you, and I will win.

John Harker said:Like, I get "crystals" and their direct and symbolic nature are deeply rooted in the Final Fantasy franchise as a whole, but don't you think they are... over using it a bit much?
I mean, not only do crystals play a prominent role in each release in the series, but now they get their own spin-offs (Crystal Chronicles), spin-offs of spin-offs (Crystal Defenders), mainline series (Fabula Crystalis Whatever) titles.
Like, I get it. Crystals are powerful.
Hell, even Dissida is all about crystals. Well, and flowers.
Would people cry foul if FF got a new mascot?
Fimbulvetr said:FF 8 doesn't have crystals, what would you suggest for condensed magical energy?

I can understand the typo because the C and F key are so close to each other but you really ought to read what you write before you post.gkrykewy said:This game deserves better than to have the shitty CC name tied around its ankles.
