Why would Seth block that? Only thing I can think of is trying to protect EVO, but I doubt that's it.

BTW I agree with Jaxel's rant and the fact there's a double standard. Give props to the FR folks for enforcing their rules last year on Sunday though. (DQing Wolfkrone and another person)

Glad to see Jaxel here, just hope he gets his 300 posts and 90 days in.

Actually, I have MAJOR complaints about the way things were handled at FR last year. There was a double standard at FR, basically they were only DQing people they didn't like. There was a definite show of favoritism to the local players.

I was rooming with NYChrisG at FR last year and I saw exactly what happened and how he was DQ'd from Winners Top 8 Semi-Finals in Marvel. The previous day, they had told him he had to be down at the venue to play his match at 11:00 AM. At 10:45 AM, I started receiving phone calls telling me that they were about to DQ Chris... a good 15 minutes before his scheduled start time. Even at APEX, we didn't DQ people until 10 minutes AFTER their scheduled start time... after 5 minutes they lost the first match, after 10 minutes they lost the entire set.

But wait, it gets worse... we finally ushered Chris out of the room before 11. At 10:57 AM (still 3 minutes before his DQ), he gets to the venue room and realizes that he forgot his badge. The guy at the door, wouldn't let him in, even though he KNEW he was Chris... even though they were calling for Chris on the loud-speakers and Chris was like "yo! thats me! they calling me!".

So Chris had to ride back up those SLOW ass elevators, get his badge and come back down. When he came back to the venue at 11:05 AM, he had already been DQ'd. So ChrisG got DQ'd for being 5 minutes late, when other players get 20-30 minutes before they get DQ'd... thats the double standard.

-----

Things get worse when you consider the Soulcalibur side of the event. Soulcalibur have 254 people in it; larger than most other tournaments at FR. Brackets and Pools were posted for EVERY game in advance, except Soulcalibur. Since they had no pools in advance, they told ALL 254 people to be at the venue at 10:00 AM.

When we got there at 10:00 AM they had all 8 pools printed out. However, they refused to post the pools online or allow people to ask which pool they were in at the information desk. But wait, things are even worse... the printouts for the brackets were incomplete and actually cut off the bottom 3 rows of each page!

Since nobody knew what pool they were in, we all had to sit at the venue for hours just listening to the loudspeakers and waiting for our names to be called for a DQ warning. Some people showed up at 10 AM, and didn't have their first match till 6 PM. Something like this is actually very exhausting for players and impedes their tournament experience and level of play. These venues are packed and hot; so people had to sit around all day in the hot, sweaty and loud atmosphere... not even being able to go out and eat since they were afraid of missing their pool.

But wait, it gets even worse. 6 PM comes along, the final set of pools are starting and people were like, yo! I never got called! So we go to the information desk to complain and they say "we called you over and over on the loudspeaker, you didn't show up, so we DQ'd you". Which was complete bullshit because the loudspeaker was right next to the Soulcalibur stations and DEAFENING. If they had called, EVERY Soulcalibur player in the venue would have heard it.

One of these players, "GreatOne" from Seattle is one of the most loved players in our community. When the community found out he got DQd for these bullshit reasons, everyone started running to me to complain and get things fixed. However, there really wasn't anything I could do about it.

So not only did people not know what pools they were in and there was a chance they get DQ'd without getting called... there was also a chance they were cut off from the printouts and not in the tournament AT ALL. Of course, since they wouldn't let most people see the printouts and the pools in advance, everyone had to just sit around and hope.

You know who did get to see the printouts? The local players. Even up till 6 PM and the start of the final set of pools, they were actually changing the pools around without telling anyone. They were moving people around in order to give local players a better chance to make it out of pools. FR was honestly one of the worst cases of bracket rigging I have seen in years.

Dope. Brokentier can do no wrong.

I'm gonna spam the hell out of you guys with my oddball libertarian elitist ideals.
Welcome! You are now the most likely person on GAF to get permabanned until Triforce gets an account.

Also watch what you say around Dark/Demons Soul GAF, they're a passionate bunch and will bring pitchforks. Actually, just watch what you say. You can't be banned for having terrible taste in games, but you can for personal insults.

Jaxel AND James Chen?!

What a day, what a day
What? Chen got an account?

If the SC community feels like they were cheated, why wouldn't that community boycott FR for those reasons?

The Soulcalibur community has been treated like garbage at pretty much every major we've ever been a part of, outside of BigE events. So it sort of just was just par-for-the-course for us.

Plus, FR itself was a great event, even with all the bullshit. As I said in my video, I dont blame the Event Organizer for the wrongs that Tournament Organizers do. ShinBlanka put together a great event and I expect this year's FR to be even better.

The "block" that was there is replaced by Haunts and Combofiend who aren't exactly prostitutes for eSports, Haunts is open about his disdain for them while Combofiend doesn't strike me as the guy who's excited about the prospects of pro gaming. So nothing much has changed.

I doubt Haunts and Combo have the same amount of sway as Seth did. At least at this point.

Sven was always above Seth.
Seth was only a community manager, Sven is a senior VP of strategic planning or something.
