Fighting Games Weekly | July 21-27 | EMPty

I wanna get into Tekken but don't know where to start... Should I just wait for Tekken 7 to come out?

No matter how much they change, I expect Tekken to be fundamentally the same. The game has a long learning curve so if you really want to learn it then start as early as you can.

Rip and Aris have tons of system and character videos to learn from, and the GAF OT is still pretty active and can help you with any specifics.

Sweet! Thanks! I might as well dabble with Tekken Tag 2. Got a pretty beastly player as a sensei!

FGW | In theory, my thread title is more balanced, gets more views and will sell better than yours!

Play around with game mechanics (especially movement), but don't try to get good at matchups. T7 will have a lot less shit to learn, and the biggest learning curve in TTT2 is the huge mountain of character knowledge, a lot of which won't be in T7.

Last week was changed by a mod though.

There's always a chance that TTT2 will be better (or you'll like it more) than Tekken 7, so you may as well pick it up in the meantime.

I noticed PR Rog has been showing his number of subscribers since yesterday. He was at 151 but now I see him at 146. I think showing it is a bad idea because people might just unsubscribe just so the number will go down. But it's interesting to see how many subs the guy who stream more than anybody else in the FGC has. So he's making 700+ from subs alone. I forget how much of a cut Twitch gets but I'm going to assume 20%, so that leaves Rog with over 500 at least.

He's very well known and streams a lot so I assume he has the most or one of the most among all FGC personalities who streams. And it honestly isn't that much so I can't imagine others doing that well if he has only 146 himself.

$500 a month?! That's peanuts. Geez, Tekken players need to show Rog how to get it done. (Am I doing it right guys?) : P

I'm sure if PR Rog started streaming himself playing Just Dance in a tight tank top or doing cosplay rewards for donations he'll be raking in the dollars in no time (Or just having a subscriber day every week where he plays vs his subs).

I actually don't find someone alone playing randoms on xbox live to be all that compelling, and most of the fun in the stream is reading the random messages people send him and hearing his hyena laugh. I feel like Champ knew this about FGTV and that's why it's just constant drama and callouts.

its definitely not even close to 20%. Its 50% and the CPM is dogshit for ads.

The only people making bank from streaming are video game personalities that are huge, and TSM (and a few top players here and there from other esports)

Oddone plays a fucking flash game and gets 20k views. Think about that. A TSM former player (now coach) just plays flash games and get 20k views. Hell he has gotten 30k from just streaming his LoL matches.

50? Well damn that only leaves him with like $365 a month then. I know they provide the platform, but man that seems a little too high. I was thinking 20-30 when I posted.

As for how he does compared to people who play other games, well I'm not surprised how poverty status he is compared to them. But I just found it interesting to see that someone finally shows the receipts so we can see where the FGC stands for now(which is nothing to brag about of course)

Doesn't YT CPM shit on Twitch? And they've opened up streaming to more people?

I guess with YT buying Twitch they probably won't be happy about people using YT instead of Twitch to stream games.

I don't think that's total number of subs, but rather sub goals.

It's a very common thing in the League of Legends streaming community. Once certain goals are hit the streamer will do "insert random shit to make monsters happy"

It's the total. And he does have a goal, which is 200. Right now it's at 148 so a couple guys just subbed. He did say he would give away a stick if he reaches 200.

A while ago, Spooky said he had around 1,000 subscribers or something.

I figured him and Level|Up have more. I was focusing on the single person streaming from home though. So PR Rog is probably at the top or near it when it comes to fighting game players.

Hey Vulva, what's the name of that modder in our scene again? Turns out it's just the USB for my FE that needs replacing rather than the USB(Although I sitll may end up replacing that later on so I can use the stick on Xrd)

Do you also know if it's possible to do a select mod on a HORI stick? None of the hori sticks have arcade buttons for start/select

I know he knows some stuff about FEs.

edit @16bit I think I'm gonna just enjoy some time off from fighting games for a few weeks. I have an exam on august 14th and I think USF4 PC comes out like a week before that so maybe I'll just forget about fighting games until after that.

Anyone else feeling the post-EVO lull of wanting a break from fighting games?
Not exactly but I tried watching the finals last weekend as I couldn't watch anything live, and after BBCP I'd kinda had enough. Not what I was expecting lol. Part of that though, is I find Rose a bit boring and already knew the result of USF4. I wish Sako or Daigo won.

I listened to several hours of OBS with Triforce on and I gotta say: damn, this stuff is just ugly! Lots of people having been put on blast, but I thought it was interesting how they ended up basically saying that his credibility is so damaged that even if he speaks the truth on matters now, it won't change people's perception as they love the players and despise him. One other thing that fascinated me about an otherwise horrendous show is that despite all the hatred for this guy, there were few people with actual arguments against him. I suppose he's an easy guy to dislike, but in all those hours of calls I heard very little substantiated evidence against the man. Just my two cents.

There were few people because the show almost never let's people on with differing opinions. Or, they fill their show with 6+ yesmen and then invite an impartial guest on and it's the same song and dance.

If you're talking about the most recent show, that's not the Triforce we always see. The most recent show had about 600% more of him owning up to his mistakes than usual, and even still he managed to still not take full responsibility for how fucked up everything has become as a result of his decisions. Not much was substantiated against him because most of the time was spent calling out how Triforce spends every other show hiding behind lies and half-truths.

Well, I think I listened to the last two shows with Triforce. There is no discussion that he made terrible decisions, both as a businessman and as a husband, left whatever ill-feelings that were brewing inside EMP fester too long, instead of cutting away dead weight, and he failed in getting his guys act like the professionals they're supposed to be. He owned up to some of his mistakes, yet still blames others for some of his other mistakes, true. What I see is a man, who has a vision, a dream, but he also has the tendency to go on these tangents where he loses his audience. Lots of what he says only seems to make sense to him, but he has moments where he is rather eloquent and has valid points. He also seems to be an emotional guy, which also doesn't always help. That OBS show format is just horrible, lots of trolling and senseless watching him try and re-establish connections. That presenter telling trolls, he himself allowed in the chat, that he will have (anal) sex with their moms, jeesh. What is he? a teenager?

Not including any ads, twitch gets 50% of the subscription money (hence why so many streamers have paypal buttons, the money goes directly to them in full).

So begins the long, slow days of summer in the FGC.

I'm completely drained after Evo, and had a self-imposed rest week. I'm over that now, and ready to get back to work. Got so bored towards the end of it.

You've pretty much got it. When it comes to Triforce, the best thing to do is come to your own conclusions. There isn't a more polarizing figure in the FGC - and we're not just talking bipolarity, either.
