Personally I prefer the current McLaren livery to that fan remake. Idk, but the white doesn't suit modern McLaren imo.

Someone made a mockup of what the McLaren should have looked like.

Meh. Reminds me of the testing livery for the Champ Car DP01.

Personally, I think the real livery looks fine on the track. It just looked weird in the studio and in McLaren's bizarre, dark orange theatre of death.

TR looks good.

The Toro Rosso does everything it needs to do and rides the kerbs well.

The Haas, by comparison, isn't really hitting the kerbs hard. When Magnussen does attack the kerbs, the rear reacts badly and he had a moment in Turn 2 just now that effectively ruined the lap.

Hamilton is just getting up to speed on his first run but looks to have confidence, despite being a bit wary on the throttle in Turn 3, which is understandable as that corner can bite you. Mercedes has the shark fin, an extended version of what it had before, which looks less good aesthetically.

The Toro Rosso looks particularly strong on braking and turn in - just having watched a few laps it seems a very honest and true car.

Mercedes are testing a new version of 60ghz wifi connection with their cars, apparently. Looking to run it proper at USGP practice later this year.

15:38 The Ferrari looking OK. Vettel seems to have a level of grip that is similar to Hamilton. So that's promising for Ferrari, as the car certainly wasn't running out of grip. Still early days but from what we are seeing right now, which is only a few laps at Turn 3, Ferrari could be on a position to give Mercedes a bit of a fight.

Edit: and the McLaren can't handle all that Honda power at once and turns itself off.

A 1:21.765 from Lewis 3.2 seconds faster than the best time from day 1 last year.

1 sec faster than the best set at barca testing last year. So these times should still tumble another few seconds by the end of testing.

They've completely redesigned the PU for this year. That still doesn't excuse it as they can, I believe, do unlimited bench testing.

It's like they just turn up to testing every year with an engine they only just finished putting together the night before.
 
Then how can McLaren struggle so much yet again? If it's the engine causing the issues that is.

A lot of problems the teams are having aren't complete engine or gearbox failures. RB has a sensor failure, small part but a bastard to change. McLaren already back out so it was probably electronics are well, it sounded like it was winding down into a recovery mode.
