Forza Motorsport 6 has "wet weather, 3D puddles and night races" + more

Anyone know if Drivatars take damage now so I can turn on Simulated Damage and have a fair race?

Simulations been off for me since Day 1 for F5 because I see no point when only I get affected.

Looks like they confirmed that FM6 would have no Auction House or individual player Storefronts. Total bummer.

Thought they left that out of FM5 due to the launch crunch. The current system is terrible and basically hides the real talent behind paint spammers putting up matte black everything paint jobs and tuners who just put up stock tunes as performance ones.

I'll probably be unpopular, but if this is true, good.

As far as I am concerned (as someone who rarely used either), the added development time used on these features could be better spent elsewhere.

I understand lots of people liked these features, but I just wish they would concentrate on the core of the game, rather than dilute it trying to be everything to everyone.

Those feature were part of forza identity un my eyes, I didn't played a lot of FM5 mostly due to the lack of said features, I like to laptime and race as much as to paint and share, that's the only reason forza was the best game overall for me.

Without the sharing of the storefront, and the fact that you can't send tune, paint, or car directly to your friends, or let's say something impopular, the fact that they give money to players on a régular basis (because they ruined the economy of the game by cutting storefront and action house) are things that change considerably what forza used to be.

Maybe it's becoming a better racer overall, but not a better car enthousiast game.

But that's just me and some of my friends, obviously I understand that some people are more into the racing part of it.

I totally agree. Even though I'm more interested in pure racing, these features, to me, have been a concession for a putting up with more "car game" than "racing" game. It hurts the core community as well, though I know they are trying to cater to a broader audience.

With every iteration, it unfortunately appears the forza faithful get less and less of what originally made forza great.

That is a huge negative that helped make Forza so good.

I think that's a really bad decision.

301 Cars got and I will await my 5,000,000CR in Forza 6.

Tomorrow, i'll start Forza 3 Car Collecting.

This might be a dumb question, but I don't know if it's dumb because the answer is obviously yes or no, but is there rain at night? I know there's rain and night racing, but I'd like to get double-whammy on, if you get my drift (rain at night).

Yeah, it's sorted now. The TT at Brands looks to be the same build as E3, whereas the stuff that was new for GC, (STCC at Brands and Ford GT at the 'Ring), definitely has visible drying lines.

Thanks for clearing that up.

No, it's rain or night, but not both.

Yeah, at least Online Players might have something good.

Single Player probably won't, but I can dream!

Also, Forza 4's buying is so easier than 5!

- A to "Buy Car"
- Press "Right" twice to get to Alfa Romeo.
- Mash "A" to buy cheap 5,000 Car.
- Back to Step 1.

Damn. Is that on the BC list?

What the fuck? Is this true?
First no day night cycle now this shit?

You do realize that this game comes out on Xbox One yes? That it is also 1080p and 60fps with no drops? I don't think so otherwise you wouldn't be asking this question.

Turn 10 has some highly skilled people on the tech side but they are not wizards.

I guess but I am just thinking about all the glorious time I had with GT5 on PS3. Day night cycle, and night racing. Yes it wasnt 1080p/60fps still I am bit let down :( I just cant believe its something impossible to pull off.

Continue to be disappointed for the rest of this generation. I guess we have one more Motorsport this generation and you won't see that stuff there either.

I talked to Dan about this a bit during Xbox Fanfest. He wants to do a lot of things. Day and night cycle, dynamic weather, 4x MSAA etc.

Hardware is the limit.

Or put car selection into grid mode, sort the cars by price, press RT on each 5000cr cars, press A : OMG you just bought at least 15 cars in one buy.

I mean look at Night/Rain Project Cars on Launch: Here.

Watch when Glorious GT7 comes out and shuffles to 30fps-50fps and people go "If only they weren't so ambitious with Day/Night Cycle. I'd rather have Solid 60FPS than this!"

Well that sucks if true. It pretty much prevented me from spending time doing any decent paints in Forza 5, because of how archaic the whole design system is.
Instead I made millions of credits by just sharing my custom designs/paints that took me 20 minutes to do....it's a stupid system.

Has there been any confirmation that car clubs are back in? I'm guessing they are because they were in FH2, but I haven't heard anything about it.

Dan mentions it here about a minute in. I'm sure I've read or heard it elsewhere too.

Maybe not.

I get what you're saying though, see how the endurance races pan out. It could just be a throwaway excuse but it opens a can of worms. Spa has day, night and wet, if at the very least the player's position could be held across three stints it would make for a decent enough endurance race. Unlikely, I know.

If night racing really is explained as 'stints' (ie swapping more than one driver in the same car during endurance races) then that would only make sense if the part that you play either starts or finishes in the pits. This doesn't seem to be the case from the videos I've seen - night races start on the grid and end at the finish line, which is a normal race, not a stint.

Assuming this is what we will be getting, it sounds a bit half-assed. It really wouldn't have taken much for stints to be properly implemented, eg your stint starts as your car peels into the pits, there's a nice animation of the driver getting out and 'you' getting in as the pit crew do their stuff, then you set off - from the pits - to complete your stint (which might end at the finish line, or even with another pit stop). When you re-enter the race (from the pits) your position could be low because other cars haven't yet pitted to swap drivers - this could add additional excitement as other cars peel in and out of the pits during your stint, so your track position is always volatile.

It'll be interesting to see how these stints are actually presented in the final game but after the lacklustre way drag and drift have been implemented in the past (and the lack of qualifying, even though practice exists) then I'm only expecting minor concessions. Unfortunately that seems to be the Dan way of doing motorsport.

Maybe stints will feature properly in the various scenarios that are being set up as challenges..? From what we've seen so far night racing looks just like a normal race, but set at night.

Shannons & Forza Motorsport 6 team up for the Ultimate Driving Experience

Mark Behr, Shannons Marketing Manager said “Coinciding with the launch of the Forza Motorsport 6 in September we have created the Shannons and Forza Motorsport Ultimate Driving Experience holiday, the winner will get to experience rides and drives on some of America’s best race tracks featured in the new game release. They’ll spend 14 days touring America in a Ford Mustang GT visiting San Francisco, Laguna Seca in Monterey, Las Vegas Speedway, Texas Motor Speedway and the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. Plus to cap it all off, 2 Victory Lane Club tickets to the Indycar Firestone 600 in Texas, one of the feature races of the Indycar season.

Shannons is an Aussie car enthusiast insurer. Surely some Australian car announcements are coming soon...for fuck's sake already!

Calm down guys, the car announcements are still coming and we will see soon enough.

If we knew everything right now we'd be sitting on our hands til September 10th.

At least this way there is a nice treat every week.

Many GT classes use assists though, so playing "no assists" isn't what the real drivers are doing.

Yeah, that's why the 'Real Assists' option is useful in pCARS. To be honest I did try using assists in FM5 and still found it pretty slippery. I normally use respected garage tunes in Forza but with the (godawful) overhaul of the marketplace system in FM5 this was harder to do, so as an alternative I did try proper race-specc'd GT cars, but unfortunately with the same result. I think Turn 10 might have just reduced grip levels across the board for some reason, maybe buying into the 'slippery = more sim' myth?

Or is this all in my imagination from being forced to use the pad instead of a FFB wheel? I dunno, what do others here think - is traction in FM5 noticeably reduced compared to previous versions?

The grip is reduced, but the "slipperyness" so to speak is mostly down to the XB1 controllers awful deadzones making brake and throttle modulation difficult compared to previous games.

It definitely feels slippier than PCars, I struggle with FM5 I've just been playing the SMS game.

I don't know which is more realistic though having not driven a GT car. :)

One thing I can do in PCars though is go full throttle out of a corner without worrying, and pull full brakes into one - which perhaps implies PCars is a bit too easy. Perhaps the correct approach is somewhere between the two games.

Yeah, could be. I do find the pCARS end of the scale to be more conducive to balls-out racing thrills though.

I run my triggers and sticks in FM5 at 0-100 and don't have problem.

I actually have more trouble in FH2 with this configuration with throttle control in RWD vehicles but don't really have the auto knowledge or vocabulary to express why.

A few achievements for freeplay there. I really hope they've added more options to it. It was such a pain in the ass in Forza 5 to want to drive a LaFerrari or P1 and be forced to race against these tiny little race cars. Even using the Lotus F1 car sucked because the AI was stuck using Indy cars.

I find it way easier to lock my brakes in PCars than in Forza, or at least I find it's way harder to recover from it when they do lock. I actually started using ABS in PCars because of it. I don't use any assists except automatic clutch in Forza.

In general PCars is more grippy too but once you lose grip it's tougher to manage than it is in Forza. Assetto Corsa is similar to PCars that way.

Apologies, I should have been clearer in my original post. In GT racing ABS and TCS is used, and so I use them in both F5 and PCars (using Real Assists) in these type of events.

My comparison between the two games was based on using these assists. In PCars it makes it very easy to put 100% brakes on coming into the corner and 100% throttle with little negative effect. However even with the assists this isn't a guarantee of safety in Forza 5.
