Is anyone here playing this on Xbox One S? Seems like every page is full of PC players.
The load times are brutal on XB1S! I assume they'll be improved with XB1X, but, I'm not getting one of those any time soon.
I'm on XB1S, going on to XB1X in November, but yeah the loadtimes are brutal. I'm hoping this is basically the early, unoptimised E3 demo build. Is anyone here playing this on Xbox One S? Seems like every page is full of PC players.

You best stock up on tea and biscuits before the full game arrives!!I like the long load times, they're a perfect tea and biscuit break before a race.
XBOX One impressions:
The demo graphics are actually pretty terrible. It's clear this game is waiting for the One X to drop. The Nuburgring graphics are especially dire. The cars look like they're floating on the road at the start due to extremely basic shadows, and textures look flat and lifeless.
The one redeeming part of the demo is that the lightning causes the cars to light up (a very cool effect), and driving semis is endlessly entertaining.
The Dubai track is like Seattle at rush hour, and was't fun in the slightest due to this.
Fullscreen borderless windows can bypass the compositor. Windows which are not fullscreen, or which have another window overlaying them, cannot.
Every game that uses the new fullscreen optimizations is upgraded to using this new presentation mode by default.
You may be right about it not being exactly the same as the DX12 mode, but it's not just "fullscreen emulation". Even the NVIDIA drivers treat it like a true fullscreen application if you have G-Sync set to fullscreen only, and not fullscreen+windowed. This behavior changes depending on whether the fullscreen optimzations are active or not.
Unless you've forcibly disabled the DWM process, that's not supposed to happen. Windows 8 and above do not allow you to disable it through normal means.
In Windows 7, I believe an Application could temporarily disable the DWM.
Is it me or are the visuals on Xbox One really underwhelming in this?
It looks like they optimised the game for Xbox One X and dialled back all the settings. I played the storm event and was disappointed by the flat lighting, the basic rain effects and the low-poly parts of the car interior and course.
I played Forza 5 at launch and I remember it looking better than this. Skipped Forza 6. Are the other events a better showcase?
The demo does support DSR. You have to set your desktop to the resolution you want the game to render at.... which in this case is 7680x4320. You can use CustomDSRTool to force DSR to create 8K resolution. If you're using a 1440p monitor the factor is 9.00.
In the game go to the resolution option and choose to render at desktop resolution. It's past the lowest resolution option that you can choose in the game. I would do this myself, but won't be back home until in the morning.
Yes, because it's on the list of games that get upgraded to the new presentation mode, which enables borderless windowed games to bypass the compositor.Well, here's a report of WoW tearing in a window when running on Windows 10 for example: https://eu.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/17613272244
It shouldn't, but it's probably due to the specific way that videos are being rendered. So they're outputting an image that is already torn due to the player's own rendering, rather than presenting frames to the compositor directly - which won't allow them to tear. There are many other apps which do this. Many video players for example allow the video stream to tear and it doesn't matter if it's in a window or fullscreen.
Well yes, this option is working but I don't want my desktop in 8K.
I test it though and the performance as expected is the same with 4K and 200% resolution scale.
Here is a screenshot at native 8K (47MB PNG, Afterburner FPS on the upper left corner).
Demo keeps crashing on the startup screen after pressing enter...what is the deal?
I've gotten it to work like once out of the last 10 tries.
Does it start windowed and crashes when it goes fullscreen? If so I worked around it by pressing alt+enter during the turn 10 logo. I'd like to know if there is a way to start in fullscreen.Demo keeps crashing on the startup screen after pressing enter...what is the deal?

Now that's interesting. Explains why it still runs at 60fps on a 1080ti.Below is the game actually running at 8K on an Overclocked Titan Xp (2017) with an overclocked i7 6850K
Here is a 7680x 4320 screenshot. MSAA is off and scaling is at 100.
The game runs at less than 30 FPS. The scaling isn't doing what you think it is doing. This is the game being rendered at 8K

I think it looks better than previous games. My only complaint from the demo is the load times. Is it me or are the visuals on Xbox One really underwhelming in this?

In the screenshot you linked you're missing a lot of post processing effects like motion blur. I had the same issue. The game fails to implement them at higher resolution an thus gives you higher framerates as well.

I specifically said in windowed mode.Yes, because it's on the list of games that get upgraded to the new presentation mode, which enables borderless windowed games to bypass the compositor.
It's not only video players. Browsers do this (and they use D3D9 or 11 to render surfaces on Windows 10), Steam client do this in some conditions, some messenger apps do this, etc. I believe that you don't have to use any special mode to allow your app to tear in Windows 10 1607+ in any case, a window or fullscreen. It shouldn't, but it's probably due to the specific way that videos are being rendered. I believe you have to make sure HDR is enabled in Windows firstFinally getting a chance to try this out. How do I enable HDR on the PC version? I don't see an option in the video settings.
Also really disappointing that there isn't a framerate counter. Apex had one for crying out loud.
You have to turn it on in Windows via the system display options. Warning: it may not work with newest nvidia drivers. As for the frame counter it is only a demo. Hopefully the full game will have one. Finally getting a chance to try this out. How do I enable HDR on the PC version? I don't see an option in the video settings.

Just re-installed the driver and HDR works. I guess it must have changed my nvidia colour settings and thrown it out. And yeah, turning it on is annoying.Just raced one race and holy shit this is an embarrassing demo. Hitching and stuttering, the mouse cursor stays on screen even the controller is recognized, and the loading is a joke. Wtf were turn 10 thinking releasing this?! Apex and even Horizon 3, with all the issues it had, ran better than this.
I was all set to pre-order this before playing this mess of a demo. I'm sure the console versions will turn out OK, but I still can't support a studio who would put out such a shitty port.
Thanks, that's incredibly stupid when I can enable HDR in other games without that option enabled.
Do we know if performance is fixed or improved with the new drivers?

Some have said they had a performance boost. Can't say I did but then performance was good already for me.

You have to be on Win10 1709 pre-release version for HDR option to appear it seems.
It is dumb, especially when they include an HDR toggle in game (that doesn't even work) once you have HDR enabled in Windows. Thanks, that's incredibly stupid when I can enable HDR in other games without that option enabled.
The motion blur is not working because I don't like it at all and it is the first option I disable in a game.
Again the settings I am using is every option on max setting, wet reflections on high instead of ultra, motion blur off, 2xMSAA and I have always enabled 16xAF high quality from the Nvidia drivers.
I have posted detailed FPS numbers with these settings with 4K resolution in game and 200% resolution scale.
I don't know why you think that the resolution scale is not a resolution scale, every game that gives that option is working in the same way, is not just a gimmick option.
I tested the game with 8K in game as you asked and the results were exactly the same.
If the only difference in our settings is just the motion blur and that is giving you half of the performance I don't know.
Everyone with a 1080Ti can test it and see the results.
Edit: I noticed in your screenshot that the GPU usage is only at 58% in the rain at the most demanding part of the demo.
And here some more 8K PNG screenshots (in game actual resolution, not with resolution scale):

They don't need to do that.
Were you watching on a 4K TV?
If Turn 10 can announce that unlocked framerates will be supported in the final build I'll buy this right now.
The PC version will support ultra-wide 21:9 resolutions and an unlocked framerate. In addition, there will be cross-play between Xbox One and PC players, and the game is part of the Xbox Play Anywhere program, providing access on both platforms when you buy a digital copy. Turn 10 also listed out all the compatible peripherals for the PC version which ranges from the latest game pads to the breadth of steering wheels from Thrustmaster, Fanatec, and Logitech. Forza Motorsport 7 is set to release on October 3 for both PC and Xbox One.
funny how they need zoomed pictures to show you the difference between a 150 dollar console and a 500 dollar console and a 1200 dollar pc.
i think we are hitting a wall here chat

I thought the Nissan track/car/weather combo looked amazing, almost weather effects as in Driveclub but at twice the framerate. The truck track looked meh though, the vibrating net inside the cockpit looked great but everything else felt like Motorstorm without all the fun and coolness. Having that on a demo supposed to help selling the game was a bit unusual.Played on PC @1080p with graphics setting maxed out.

The Porsche track looked great though considering it's a desert but not quite wow-worthy.
