I had to really think about the decision to put BC up on top -- for me, nothing else this year really boiled down to the same level of excitement and overall entertainment value that I got from WoW this year, and that was almost entirely due to the continuing development of the game via BC.

It's that simple, I guess. I feel like placing it in a different list, since I'd likely place a WoW expansion up top every year as long as I can continue to play the game, and deal with new games separately, but there's just one list permitted here, so that's how that goes.

Didn't get to play God of War II, Mass Effect, and only tried demos of Ratchet & Uncharted, or I'm sure most would be on the list (except Uncharted; the demo's what kept me away).

Honorary mentions:

- Dragon Quest IV (DS): Not listing cause it's a remake and there's too many good original games this year.
- Earth Defense Force 2017 (X360): Came out in 2006 in Japan. Hugely underappreciated IMO. Maybe my GOTY for last year.
- Pac-Man: CE (X360): Great fun. Prolly my download/arcade game of the year.

A few thoughts:
- As everyone already knows, this was the year of the 360. Four of the top nine games are 360 exclusives, and the other two are superior on the 360 (for COD4, bigger/better community + better FPS controller).
- Excluding multiplatform games, there are three solid contenders here for best 360 game whereas the Wii and PS3 each have clear choices according to GAF (though I preferred Ratchet myself).
- There are a lot of decent/middling/mediocre Wii games on the list. Either there are a lot of Wii-only NeoGAF members, or the 360/PS3 owners have too many good games to choose from for the top ten to get to the second-tier games

I agree. I put as much time into it as anything, and like Halo, so much of that time was spent just running around, helping my friends in co-op. And it was always incredibly fun. It didn't make my top ten, but it was very close.

Zelda above T&T and Pokemon is pretty bad, yes. If it wasn't a Zelda game I don't think it'd be getting this many votes at all.

I didn't vote for either but i know i enjoyed zelda alot more than pokemon. This was the least enjoyable pokemon for me in the whole series so far.

There is no defeating a major first party Nintendo game.

I for one didn't 'get' Bioshock at all. Orange Box is peerless in appeal and quality.

Not that interesting to understand Mario Galaxy. Many people who play it are saying that it's the best game Nintendo have created since Ocarina of Time.
