I hate it when the best game I think I ever created gets only a 37 and then a game I rush to get out before christmas gets fucking 40 :lol
:lol

Slight update: company sales record is now 121 million copies. Highest selling console: the ShortStack (portable) with 43 million units shipped.

I'm done with this game. I just don't get, and never have. It's year 16 and I only have $13,587.0K. I can't afford another license, so I've been making nothing but Game Kid games. As soon as I can to afford to develop on something, it's an outdated console and a waste of money. My Dead Bulls dont work; I see employees go on fire immediately after using the item.

I've wasted so much time.
They worked.

Hmm..wondering if there's multiple save slots for this game.
I just bought it, my g/f has made a company, now I want to make one of my own...I'm scared that if I make a new game, it'll overwrite her studio.

You can only have one game going at a time I'm afraid, unless people have found a workaround I'm not aware of.

Dumb question, but how can I actually name my games? They're all Game #1, #2 etc...

Before launching the game after it's completed, the option is something like "Change Title"

Just bought this today. I'm fucking addicted. Seven years in the game of making Ninja dating sims and ninja action games and rpgs and some asshat company beats me to the market it with my new Ninja Action game. ='(

How are you guys getting such ridiculous sales? I can't even afford console licenses =/

I've started 2 games/studios now and neither can catch a fucking break. First one was barely breaking even all the way to year 20. Second my highs are higher but my lows are definitely lower. Every big game I hype up/pour money into end up suffering from blackouts or being beaten to market. It fucking sucks, My highest selling game to date is 900k and thats on year 11. Am I hiring wrong? Not training workers enough? Bad direction? Should I just be pumping the fuck out of polish?

You have to train a guy to the max, then change their job role ( from the salesman ) - I think they have to be max levels at everything before it unlocks hardware engineer.

Maybe not idea to do it with someone who already has a huge salary as you have to go through alot of salary increases to get there.

Shiiiiit. I finally played this game yesterday on a friend's Iphone...

It'S SO GOOD that I feel like buying myself an Ipod Touch, Ipad or Iphone for it. Why can't this game be announced for a gaming platform? :(

Make some pc-games/contracts to start. Get enough money to hire in more people. have at least one that's good in each category and don't use the same people for every game (outsource if you have to) Buy license to only one console at a time (to one that's recently started so it will be around for a while). Train/Level up, do marketing.

Just wondering about you guys who have gone past year 20, do companies still release new consoles to compete??? Any new employees become available?

I just always start a new game once I hit year 21.

If you are late in the game you can also hire the Robot guy. He is a hardware engineer.
Isn't he like ridiculously expensive? I remember seeing him and not hiring him. Just couldn't afford it.

Just discovered there's a (Alpha) version of this out for Facebook. Only played with it for a couple of minutes but it seems pretty similar, aside from the facebook recruiting type aspect. The art style has been changed too and it looks horrible.

Trying to figure out if this is legit -- diff publisher, kinda janky/fakey looking art, and shitty English... Makes you wonder, anyway. Anyone have any further info?

I got the link from a dude at Uber Entertainment's twitter so not entirely sure where it came from.

It does make mention of Kairosoft though, so maybe they licensed it or something?

Or someone just ripped off the game to make a crappy facebook version. Like that's never happened before.

Just bought this game for my new iPad. For some reason I thought it was iPhone/touch only so I didn't bother (don't own one). It's sitting on my desk now but I'm going to work very hard to not touch it until the end of the work day. :lol

OK, this game is great. I started off by making a trilogy of Animal Adventure games (AniMon), and really focused on the Quality, Innovation, and Fun Factor. They sold... OK. Kept the company afloat.

But for the fourth game I decided to make a racing spinoff - AniMon Kart. I rushed the game out, focused on high graphics, accessibility, and simplicity, and shipped it with loads of bugs. The game ended up selling over 100K, double my previous record :lol

LET THE MILKING BEGIN. I'm now starting work on AniMon Puzzle.

Got a guy up to max level in all the jobs, and the Hardware Engineer job doesn't show up, for him. Yes I am scrolling, yes he is lvl 5 in all other skills, yes I am using the job change item. Hardware Engineer just isn't there as a job option :/ Virtually every guide, and this topic, say that is the only requirement. But clearly that isn't the case.

Since the game is ridiculously unbalanced at high levels, I was looking forward to making my own system as a nice little end-game challenge.

I guess I'll just have to stick to churning out sequels for my motion control romance franchise "Real Love" (yes, this is a real thing I did).

And even i am moderately surprised
Also trying to get one lol

i'm on my fourth play through and on this play through i specifically went for hardware (for the first time)

Easiest way seems to be to hire Mister X (who is already level 5 in a few job classes) and level him and switch his jobs. I had his as an H/W Engineer by Y6.

Just started playing today.

I got shigeru minamoto very early, hes amazing and im using him to build my company. The first game he made had like 70 fun value, it was awesome.

Currently ive got him as an amazing all-rounder and then a sound specialist, a graphics specialist and a not as good all-rounder. The problem im having is that when i ask each person to do what they are best at they complain any say things like "im doing the graphics again?". Well of course you are, you are only good at graphics. Is there any way to make them get past this without putting someone else on that specific area?

Is there a way to move to a bigger office/hire more people? Maybe that would fix it.

When Gilbert played Game Dev Story, he didn't put much stock into genre popularity. He just went with what felt natural: PC adventure games. After all, he was the force behind classic games like Maniac Mansion, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders and the cult classic Monkey Island series. That's why his fake company flopped — PC adventure games just wouldn't sell.

"The game is so realistic that my PC adventure game company went out of business," Gilbert said.

I totally destroyed this game from year 15 and on...amazing game but it got wayyyyy too easy toward the end of it. 20-30+ million sellers every single time with little to no effort.

I was also amused that I created a console that sold about 18 million units....then I created a game that sold about 25 million copies for that console :lol

If the game had a retail release, this quote would be perfect for the box.
