I suspect this season will deal with Danny, Cersei and the other factions all fighting each other, only for it to end with the wall coming down. Season 8 will then be whoever is left teaming up to take on the white walkers.

As someone who has been reading the books for so many years, it's extremely disappointing. At the same time, at least we have the show, so we don't have to keep wondering what will happen. I've given up on the books.
