Goldeneye Wii Discussion

Remember when the XBLA remake was coming out, but Nintendo balked. Maybe this is EA's way of giving Nintendo an exclusive Goldeneye for the Holidays, then being allowed to release the XBLA remake in 2011......

I don't mind having Craig in the role, but I wish they had like unlockable Bond skins. Connery, Lazenby, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig.

Also could have them in multiplayer.

Curious, if the 16 modes are all the same ones from original game but now with set rules?
Lordy, you forgot the best one

It's tough to tell how true to the original they'll stay. There are some obvious changes--some character greets Bond at the beginning of the Dam level; there appear to be stealth kills; I don't remember ever driving a truck through a tunnel, just following behind one--but at the same time there are many similarities--environments, level design, etc.
Ah okay, thanks.

Since this part of the rumor was true, I wonder if the other part like the gold Classic Controller Pro was true. That would be freaking amazing.

it looks on par with the cod games on wii which are considered to be the high bar of wii shooters.

n64 ? really ?

Really?

Seriously, I don't own any of the 3 consoles, and I usually avoid 3rd party Wii threads because the games suck. I had to look at this because it was Goldeneye, and I came in with the lowest expectations, and what I saw visually was about on par with my lowest expectations.

Is it really asking for too much for a Wii game to look like a Gamecube game?

EA lost the 007 licence ages ago.

This is Activision.

I'm on board. It looks great, looks like they doing a different version of the story too which is ok by me. Still, I like craig. Shame brosnan couldn't be in it but whatever. I like what it's got going for it, I hope we see more the gameplay cause it looks just swell.

This is the best gaming news for me this year. I played countless hours of multiplayer Goldeneye in the N64 days. Kicking ass with Baron Samedi. I still remember a lot of the multiplayer maps even now. Such a great game.

Wow looks worse than a usual third party Wii game. Guess it's just misguided nostalgia to guide the audience to this one then. Shame.

Eurocom made Dead Space Extraction which was good

These do look like GameCube games. You don't remember what GameCube games looked like.

The reason Pierce isn't in this is probably the same reason why all the old Bonds were taken out of the original Goldeneye for the 64 at the last minute. I think they would have had to get permission from and pay individually each actor involved to use their likeness.

Amir0x I have to disagree with you here. Goldeneye 007's superior nature does not directly relate 100% to nostalgia. I would say its 50% nostalgia, and 50% random crazy shit that just works in a shooting multiplayer game. Its just fun. Fun is the other 50%. And it seems rare these days in multiplayer shooters.

So they probably paid Christopher Lee for this one and the other goldeneye rogue agent game he was in?

Scaramanga is fucking awesome.

Looks more based on the movie than the N64 version, which is a big plus.

Seems decent graphically for the Wii. I'll have to watch a non-youtubed trailer later.

Of course the Casino Royale trailer music makes anything look awesome. I think that was actually Daniel Craig voicing the character, so that's a plus.

I notice that Scarmanga (Christopher Lee from The Man With the Golden Gun) is in the game too alongside Jaws and Oddjob. That's an addition to the original.

The trailer felt like goldeneye. I am with the majority of people though saying that the game could look better. I don't mind though; it's not like that would stop me from playing hte game.

Woo! 4P split screen and online! Can't wait. I hope Nintendo shows it at the conference.

I hope all the comical enemy reactions come intact. Shooting off an unaware enemy's hat to see him frantically look around or seeing them jump on one foot when shot in the leg was quite cathartic.

You're talking like Goldeneye did something absolutely incredible that has never been replicated by most other games. It was Quake multiplayer that was great because it was better than any other console game could handle at the time. Aside from that, there is absolutely nothing remarkable about Goldeneye's gameplay unlike Doom and Quake which still kind of hold up. In fact, there's been numerous games since then that have done the exact same thing as what Goldeneye did (Timesplitters, the Conduit, Red Steel) with mixed results. What makes you so convinced this will be any different aside from the fact that it's raping Goldeneye's corpse and will probably take its levels?

If you think this game looks bad for a realistic style third party title, you're crazy.

Its not omg mindblowing, but its not ugly either.

I like the visuals. I think they're intentionally trying to make it look similar to the N64 visuals, and that's not a bad thing. It looks like the Goldeneye we remember, just higher polygon counts and so forth, obviously. That seems like a smart decision to me, instead of trying to really push the Wii with a 'realistic' look that doesn't harken to the original look. THey want this to evoke as much 'Goldeneye' as possible.

Considering the graphics on DeadSpace Extraction were really good, it just makes it more likely that they're deliberately going for a look that mimics the original N64 game.
