My brother and I tried talking to my dad, who is a smart person, about this the other day.

He kept coming back to "don't you guys think people shouldn't be coming here illegally?". His only way of justifying how we could be against Trump's policies were that if we were pro-illegal immigration.

Also: he wouldn't even say Trump, and when pressed, would say "I didn't vote for Trump".

Welcome to my world. If anything, it does give me some hope that a good chunk of Trump's favorability rating is based upon usual GOP ideas that have been shanghaied out to crazytown and they're not actually too enamored with him at all.

Because fuck you, that's why. Not giving convincing explanations for anything worked to get Trump elected. Why should they start giving them now?
