This is the most logical scenario.Having it at PS4 launch seems stupid to me, it could scare off third parties and most people simply don't like buying hardware at launch, so they would surely lose some important sales. However, having a demo available at PSN on day 1 and the game releasing ~8 months later with a proper build up would be amazing.

Is there any possible chance that the guy was saying GT6 but actually meant GT5 Spec II?
PD was calling it an upgrade big enough to be a new game or something along those words correct?

Should be a PS4 launch title
I would happily pay $10 for GT5 DLC that included this option.
They've still got loads to do. There's just over 200 cars that are worthy of GT6. Modelling those apparently took ages. They need to at least triple that number, if they're gonna get rid of the Standard models, which needs to be done.

They "need" 600 cars? No they don't need 600 premium cars. Let me guess where you got that number though. The notion that you need that many cars especially when the other big games in the genre have like 80 is kinda ridiculous and unfair imo.
I'd be more than happy with 300 unique cars at PS4 quality for their first next gen title. I want a better selection of cars though.
It suits the kind of game though. GT is celebration of cars, a museum, a showcase, etc. I often spend much GT gaming in a single car, so I agree, it doesn't need 600 cars. But that sort of number allows for a huge variety that is totally unique to GT. GT6 would be a very different game to GT4 and 5 if they ended up with 300 cars. Perhaps for the better? The number of premium cars in GT5 is already closer to 300 then 200 anyway.

This thread has reinvigorated my interest in the series. Is GT5 awesome now?
I'm sure it does. They would have had to develop loads of new tools to model GT5 cars - that process doesn't need to be repeated. The experience gained from modelling at that quality would have increased the PD modellers' abilities and efficiency greatly. And moving forward, I imagine that new production cars become easier to model when the car companies have loads of CAD data to share.Does the process to model cars with the same quality decrease as time goes on? I don't think it does tbh. You would need to change your process of data collection or whatever they do now. And they probably had 4-5 years worth of modelling cars.
Its pure speculation on my part but I'm trying to keep my expectations in check (not low though).

Spec II and the DLC have really helped. I would say 70% of the bugs have been fixed (and there were a ton of bugs). Its still not all that great if you are looking for a single player mode, but the online is fantastic IMO. Spec II (comes with the first batch of DLC) is only $40 IIRC so its a decent value.
So out for PS5 launch?
I don't play games online hardly at all (and I don't have the time to sink hours and hours into games these days), but I would like some graphics-porn to pick up and play with here and there.
Call me crazy but I was kind of expecting GT6 for this year as a quick turn around that was more of a refined GT5 with a few more cars + tracks so if they are still getting basic track stuff now I think the game is nowhere near release.

Do you really use chase cam?
The half-assed endurance race saves aren't really good enough, as you can't do anything else in the game until you're finished.
