It's best to give up on this thread folks..it's not going to get better.
Because thats a different complaint to what we're seeing here? SP may not be as good (i agree) but at least there is a traditional SP component, they didnt structurally change the game, just undelivered on one of its significant parts (whilst creating a brilliant Multi). Seems like Poloyphony changed the format entirely.
It's Polyphony making a racing game.
There was nothing else they could call it but Gran Turismo.

If they had called it GT Online I and a lot of other people still would have been disappointed by how much is there. They made an online-focused racing game. Ok fine, but there really isnt much more here in the online stuff than other racing games. I am completely unclear as to what the online meta looks like a few months from now, and thats unacceptable for an online focused game.Would have been easy to call it GT Online and avoid confusion. GT has a history of interesting naming including A-Spec and Prologue. That combine with the dev saying this could have been called GT 7 is confusing to the base. People outside of GAF know the GT name and expect GT of old. It is great they want to change the game, but you have to OVER communicate in that case. That didnt happen here no matter what the defense force says.
If you are disappointed that GT:S misses the collecathon and upgrade element whilst the idea of sim or sim-lite racing doesn't appeal to you and you haven't played Horizon 2 or 3 go play it. They are likely the game you actually want and is an expertly crafted game. If you prefer the gameplay elements of GT and on the fence about GT:S you need to play it as it is the best the series has produced.
I think Sony should get a studio to do a response to Forza Horizon as that is a far superior game in the car collectathon and max power/boy racer element that certain GT fans enjoyed and there is a market there for it they can tap into. It should use a similar campaign structure that was found in the old GT's and use a slightly more arcade variant of the current GT:S handling model. Give it a new franchise name and focus on numbers, modifications, visual changes and basically just fucking about in cars but with a tone similar to this or this rather than the festival vibe.
Dear god no. Tons of customization. Awesome career but for the love of all things GT Do NOT dumb it down any further.
How exactly do reviews determine a fanbase? Sales is a much better determinant of that...Savage. Looks like Polyphony have descended into 343 territory in terms of misunderstanding their fan base.
What do you mean dumb it down further? Its the most serious it has ever been.
But by more arcade I mean in a similar way Forza Horizon has a more accessible model than FM to allow for off road and elements that aren't physically possible that appeal to the upgrade crowd but you can push it up to being more like that of FM for those that want it.
And i say with absolute certainty No. No open world, no off road, no horizon version of GT. Bring back all the customization and tuning, real world circuits and most importantly do not dumb down or make the driving model more accessible.
So you want GT 3 to 6 with newer cars and prettier graphics but with the GT:S handling model.
You have made a lot of coments in this thread deriding the new game but have you actually played GT:S, either the full version of the beta demo?
Savage. Looks like Polyphony have descended into 343 territory in terms of misunderstanding their fan base.
Yeah, probably more comments in these GTS threads than all my posts combined. It's a series I have been very passionate about for a very long time. The series fostered my interest in cars and tuning and my love for general motorsports. Played the demo and own the game. I have nothing against the online. I've just been waiting a very long time for a new GT and feel disappointed.
Does the AI not bore you shitless in the older games? Doing the arcade single race challenges is like watching a scripted event happen every single time and was slightly worse in the older games. Going from sport mode where it is some of the best racing I have had on a console to the AI feels extremely dated.
AI doesn't bother me. I just love the campaigns. Only thing i hated in the GT series after a while was the damn license test and section challenges. Imagine my dissatisfaction seeing the emphasis on those in this new version.

Not sure what game you bought but this game is a mere shell of the "Carporn" the GT legacy was known for.
Great OT. Look forward to following it.
Presentation has never been an issue, however this game is more like a fancy brochure than a full magazine when it comes to cars.
Can be interpreted in many ways.
I always liked doing the 3 race cups/challenges over and over with different cars to earn credits for upgrades and/or new cars. What did you enjoy about the campaigns?
It's Polyphony making a racing game.

It's really interesting that Polyphony designed the "custom race" mode which I reckon, from an initial look at all the options, you could create any configuration of race from all the previous GTs (obviously without specific tracks/cars) but they didn't have a team put together a campaign.
I also think it would have been a lot better to explain the rules of online if they created a reasonable offline campaign with variations of rules/penalties.
Hard to believe this when you only have 2 post in GTS OT. (both are still negative slant)....
While you basically live here in review thread and have more post in the another GTS thread. For someone who claimed he own the game, you spent more time deriding it than actually playing.
I want to support you on your noble endeavor to weed out these fakers.Hard to believe this when you only have 2 post in GTS OT. (both are still negative slant)....

Let's teach them a lesson.

Here's a list of all the people in the GTS OT that only have 2 posts or less.
Let's teach them a lesson.Only if they have a negative opinion of course.

My disdain is no secret. I just figured this thread is a better place for the discussion rather than clutter up the OT since im not playing it. As to owning the game, i do but it's shelved. The demo was enough for me. The "campaign" is not what want to play and I dont care for online(in any game). I own it for the collection.
Can you alphabetize that?
I'm curious if I'm on the list
That sounds reasonable. As opposed to you just checking if you've posted more than twice.
I'm lazy?
I mean if I wanted to be a jerk, I would ask to add avatars as I associate posters more with their avatars than their names.
Like you and your love for Daytona
You're not on the list, as you've posted 5 times
.Daytona USA is soooooo good

I am on that list and?
I have very little posts in the Forza 7 OT and I own that. So what? I probably havent posted in the Forza Horizon 3 OT and I own that game. I barley posted in the Horizon Zero Dawn OT and I own that. Havent posted anything in the Switch Stardew Valley thread and I own that? I can keep going.
What are you trying to prove?
The list is there for a reason.Psst the person who made that was joking/showing how silly to bring up OT post counts and probably fully agrees with you
The list is there for a reason.
The list is there for a reason.
"And unlike Sony's previous racing game DriveClub, its been reliable since launch"IGN -7.5
...and I literally just told you the reason
That reason was to show how ridiculous it would be to call out everyone on it as being unqualified to be posting an opinion here.
Many Halo fans have been complaining about the worsening standard of its single player element since '4'. And it's decline in popularity has been attributed almost wholly to it.
What's odd about that comparison?
Not trying to disagree with you here but I definitely love the competition, just not online competition.Held off on buying one until the reviews hit but it seems like of the three racing sims out this year, GT Sport appeals to people like myself the least. I'm not 100% invested in cars or racing but every once in a while I like to make a deep dive into a racing sim or similarly complex game and see where it gets me. This game looks like it's for people who are into the competition aspect of motorsports games which I tend to avoid. I may give it a chance if I could borrow a copy off a friend or if I could get it really cheap but I might just get Forza 7 or Project Cars 2 on my PC instead for the time being. It doesn't seem like a great product for casual racing fans or people who aren't already fans of the series.
We are still waiting for actual reviews. It's best to give up on this thread folks..it's not going to get better.
