GTA Online PS4/XB1 |OT| Just ignore the bodies (and look forward to heists)

2x cash on import/export is insane. I made about 2 million in roughly 2 hours last night. We were able to run a lobby with about 5 to 6 people. Just got lucky. Randoms would come and go, but in small enough numbers that they weren't a problem. The 4 + 1 kept the terminator NPCs away. This is probably the easiest money I have ever made in GTA Online.

Yeah sounds pretty rad, I'll have to try to get on and take advantage of it, 800k every 45 (or however long the 4 car sale timer is) minutes is great.

The newswire article for Smuggler's Run:

NEXT UP IN GTA ONLINE: SMUGGLER’S RUN – WATCH THE TRAILER

Seems like recent events have taken their toll on Nervous Ron – he’s even more on edge than usual, and looking for a new business partner to help take over his burgeoning smuggling empire in Smuggler’s Run, the next big update to GTA Online, coming next Tuesday, August 29th.

With a name that’s a nod to an early classic from the Rockstar Games catalog, Smuggler’s Run opens up the air corridors above Los Santos and Blaine County, providing new business opportunities while introducing a range of planes, choppers and even ultralights as highly viable options for transporting criminal cargo across the state – simultaneously opening up some creative new methods of dispatching any rival gangs along the way.

Smuggler's Run delivers a massive range of new, customizable aircraft perfect for any mission along with expansive new aircraft hangars in which to stash your fleet of fantastic flying machines. These new properties are also the HQ from which you manage your smuggling business – guided by Nervous Ron and assisted by Charlie, your new mechanic, who’ll take care of your collection of exotic aircraft.

COMING THIS FALL: TRANSFORM RACES SEAMLESSLY TAKE YOU ACROSS ROADS, SKIES AND SEAS
Stunt racing in GTA Online had you flipping and carving your way across enormous corkscrews and loops and other crazy tracks, while Special Vehicle Circuit Races harnessed the power and unique characteristics of the Rocket Voltic, Ruiner 2000 and the Blazer Aqua for adrenaline pumping challenges.

Now, racing in GTA Online will once again be transformed with intricate circuits that demand mastery across air, sea and land vehicles.

New and strategically placed checkpoints will instantly change your vehicle class to match the portion of the course ahead, creating dynamic racing with ever shifting challenges to take the checkered flag…

In terms of confirmed vehicles, I can see:

Ford Escort
P-51 Mustang
Grumman G-21 Goose (flying boat)
Mig-17
AH-64 Apache
Pilatus PC-21
Me-163
CH-7 Heli-Sport

There is also a C130-esque cargo plane with a ball turret under the nose, and what appears to be a mashup of the DC3 and B25.
Yeah and I forgot the ultralight as well.

I wonder if the plane with the chin turret will be a Titan Custom. There's another shot of a regular Titan (C-130) sitting in a hanger.

As for the bomber, I really wasn't sure what that was based off. Apart from the nose it does seem similar to the B25 though.

EDIT: there seems to be a tiny single seater prop in one of the stills

EDIT 2: there's a twitter pic of the tiny plane ("Alpha Z-1"):

Yeah in the trailer the Titan Custom had what looked like flare launchers on the side (but then flares were on some of the crate warehouse delivery aircraft too), but that VTOL shot was a huge shock. Looks so bizarre on that aircraft! Don't get me wrong, it's cool having a VTOL seaplane, but it's such a weird hybrid now. I'm surprised they didn't just add an Osprey clone as a separate vehicle.

The VTOL seaplane is the Tula.

Some of Rockstars' choices really bug me at times.
Particularly adding all the new military gear but then turn around and block armor from appearing on the new military clothes.

Like what is even the point of that?

Everyone is saying Zancudo is a warzone, though I'm playing on PC with solo lobbies. Kinda afraid they eventually patch that off, but I'd rather stop playing than deal with public lobbies.
It makes sense though, we suddenly just got the ability to buy a property inside the military base where people used to head just for fun, and we can spawn all sorts of cool new weapons of war in there. Every man and his dog is going to be heading straight there to test out their new aerial vehicles. Give it a week and I'm sure it'll settle down a bit :)

Funny thing is that they still spawn at Zancudo, so you can still steal them for free.

Do we know yet if there is any reason whatsoever to spend an extra $1.2MM to get the most expensive hangar at FZ vs. the cheapest at the same place?

It’s kind of funny really, I prefer to play solo too. I can’t remember the last time I went into a public lobby with other people. It’s the only multiplayer game I prefer to be alone in, haha.

dude join a peaceful crew. i was in your boat before i joined my current crew and haven't been in a solo lobby in months. you get to do your jobs in peace and give or get help with the multiplayer aspects of those missions. lots of benefits and few down sides, i am in 'cewl crew' but tigress mentioned 'team crew' and i'm sure there are others. go take a look and join one, your online experience will be the better for it.

Thanks to the director mode glitch over this past weekend, I came into today with a bit over $57MM in my bank account. I just did the math on the new content and if I wanted to buy all the new aircraft at trade price and the cheapest Fort Zancudo hangar (and the Batmobile, because obviously I'm buying the Batmobile), it's going to cost more than $47MM. And that doesn't include any vehicle upgrades. Scheisse.

I was in CEWL for a while and my only grip was that there were a lot of times when I couldn't do my own work because the lobby was already maxed out on CEOs/MC presidents. But then I would just help people, which was also nice. I got booted out a few weeks ago because they changed their requirements on some privacy settings and gave me 24 hrs to fix it, but I was on vacation at the time. Have not messed with re-applying yet. But yeah, those lobbies are a million times better than hanging around the normal GTAO riff-raff.

Are CEO crates still the go-to method for (solo) earning money? I'm looking at the new stuff and it's all eye-wateringly expensive. For how much these things cost the shark cards are not a good value proposition anymore.

Honestly I like playing the game solo, just driving around the city and doing CEO stuff while I listen to music or a podcast.

I hope so.

About the Lazer, you can still steal them but no upgrades, you can't store that one. And as far as I've seen the armor upgrade is insanely OP, as are the engine and handling upgrades.

I don't know why we can't keep a lazer at this point. It's not like it is that OP anymore compared to anything else.

I'm told the MTU trick has been patched :(

Anyone know what the Cyclone is?

How would they do that? The MTU trick is tricking your PS4 into thinking the internet is bad. R* would have to get their game either working really efficiently even on bad internet connections (I think the whole reason it works is that it can't handle other connections too in real time so it kicks people off too) or they just stop allowing anyone with bad connections to play at all (we aren't going to let it work with just you, it has to be good enough to handle many people).

Either way, fuck 'em. I think it's BS anyways that they refuse to let you play this stuff alone anyways. It's not like it isn't already grindy without people trying to mess up your business. and it is obvious R* wants to cultivate a shitty player base cause they frikkin depend on those people to make sure this stuff isn't that profitable. And the fact they keep trying to fix ways to keep people from playing solo shows they depend on griefers.. they wouldn't focus on a fix unless a lot of people were complaining which it doesn't affect people so that's not it or it affects their bottom line. I'd also point out they know griefers will fuck you up for the fun of it cause it doesn't even pay much to mess up some one's sale. And they do things like make you deliver in slow ass vehicles that are not fun to deliver in solely because it makes you a big target for them. There's two issues there, they are encouraging toxic playerbase and they're making the game a chore to play by making you drive slow/unfun vehicles. I mean no, they don't do anything too blatant so they can hide behind, "It was unintended consequences" but the fact they do very little to discourage the toxic playerbase and even subtly help them (as I said, here, drive this slow ass target vehicle) is obvious that they are subtly encouraging it.

Luckily I still got my friendly crew but how long until R* starts trying to kill those?

Admittedly I still enjoy GTA but it's infuriating that most of its issues are done *on purpose* to encourage shark card purchases. And this is why I won't buy another R* game (and I've never paid for one single microtransaction). They are on my list of EA and Ubisoft now for pushing games in a direction I think is very abusive. Honestly, maybe cause it is I haven't played an EA game in a long time so maybe I just haven't experienced it, they feel *worse* than EA honestly. Only game company I heard of that was worse was Konami with their people can attack your stuff if you are offline bullshit.

I'm using the MTU trick right now and it seems to be fine.

If the day comes I can't play in a public lobby solo that'll be the day I never touch GTA Online again.

I almost feel the same way (I don't need to be solo but I need to at least be able to be in a friendly session). As long as I can get around it some how, and that includes being in a friendly crew, I'll still play. Not that they care because I refuse to buy MTs so they lose nothing if I don't play. And they already lost any future business of mine (Unless I hear they change directions).

Yes, MTU still works! I've tested it and it's working exactly the same way it always has. Multiple people were posting at the GTA Forums that it had been patched. Turns out they were full of shit!

They've really done a number on police helicopter AI with this latest update. They're much faster, deal more damage, act more aggressively and spawn directly in front of you with more regularity than they used to. Even more annoyingly they can shoot you while you're supposed to be 'hidden' from them. Hostile Takeover isn't worth the time anymore, seems like it'll be faster to switch between Headhunter and Sightseer now.

I've bought Shark Cards in the past but I doubt I ever will again, they used to be a somewhat decent value proposition with an £8 card being enough to buy a car, all its upgrades and some leftover. Nowadays you need to spend a lot more for a single car, and some of these new planes can cost £20-£30. That's not a good exchange in my eyes, one plane is not worth the price of a whole new game.

I'm a whole lot less worried about getting carpet bombed in free roam than I was before the update hit. Bombing stuff is hard!

LOL, getting a bad sport warning for blowing up a shitstain's hydra who tried to attack me when I was doing the setup mission. Anything you put in the hangar can become a pv now apparently.

Seems like they're really trying to ease away from the Pegasus vehicle system, since this is turning most of these new vehicles into personal vehicles.

Thankfully there's only a $1000 insurance fee for PV aircraft; I say thankfully not because I'm worried about blowing up other people's, but because I know how often I destroy my own lol.
