Happy 27th Birthday Rockman!!!

That's right, 27 years ago the first Rockman for the Famicom was released in Japan (12/17/87).

Hello, I'm James Cancelton. I'm a lawyer representing Capcom.

I have to come to order you to cancel that thread.

Thank you.

Seriously, I didn't know Mega Man was "only" 27yo... for some reason, I thought he was the same age as Mario.

I can't wait to see what Capcom does in celebration of this event ^_^

In all seriousness, I'm going through and playing all the Mega Man games I've never finished before. Got Mega Man Xtreme 2 on the play list next :D Go you awesome little Blue Bomber, Capcom may hate you, but the rest of us still love you.

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Well, at least he's in Smash.

Also, X4 is the best MM game. None of that FTFY shit, either. Fucking X4. Is the best.

Well while Capcom has been getting better recently, I think they can do even more if they announced a new Megaman game that wasn't a mobile game or something.

Or better yet Legends 3 comes back to life.

Mega Man is the greatest character platforming/shooting series outside of Nintendo's holy IPs. Period. Point-blank.

Fuck Sonic. Fuck Crash. Fuck Rayman. Fuck Ratchet and Clank. Fuck Sly Cooper. Fuck every character. It's Mega Man.

Capcom is the worst for ignoring and neglecting this franchise. This franchise has been behind tons of games, has driven TV cartoons and comics/manga, has sold toys and merch, has made tons of licensing dollars...so how is it possible to not even get a new game? You mean goddamn Rocket Knight can get a downloadable game, and Strider can get one, but there's no way to make more Mega Man?

There's not enough money and fans out there for downloadable Mega Man 11? They couldn't have finished downloadable Mega Man Legends 3 for 3DS? They couldn't even port Mega Man Powered Up somewhere? They can disposably put box art Mega Man in SF x TK, but the next appearance of Mega Man in his own game is some shitty iOS game?

Mega Man is greatness - he, like Mario, is games incarnate to me. I have played every Mega Man game, and have probably posted about Mega Man 2 thousands of times on the Internet here, or at other places. This birthday is bittersweet, because as I sit here in my cube looking at my Mega Man figure on my desk, I can only remember how much Capcom must hate me and other fans because they feel like they can't even afford to make something new in the franchise that fucking made them. Look at that first post. Look at that list. Even the missteps were worth playing...and the best games in that list are some all-time platforming/shooting greats. :(

I saw it more as a "lifetime achievement award" that you give someone when they're no longer relevant and on the way out of their respective industry.

Which makes me sad I love Megaman.

Haha, yeah...

I was just surprised by how faithfully the Smash team managed to implement Megaman, after so many years of neglect by his robot masters.

Has anyone here ever played the horrible MS-DOS Megaman games from the days of old. It's sooo soo bad. Includes such classic Robot Masters like Sonic Man and Dyno Man!

I recently got back into retro game collecting, and MM games were on the top of my list. I've had MM2 & 3 (da best) at home for the last year or three, but I found a copy of MM1 with the manual a month ago and then after that I started hitting up ebay. I've got Rockman 5, 6, 7, X, X2, X3, and Rockman & Bass coming my way from Japan now. I've spent an unhealthy amount of money on it recently, but it's all worth it.

I'm really looking forward to those PSN titles coming out this week. I've never played them outside of....certain...methods.

I got into the Series with Battle Network, and i loved it to death since then(Thats why BN-MM is the Standard-Megaman to me).

Happy Birthsday, and please come back someday. We are waiting for you Rock :(

This thread makes me sad.

.

The series that got me into gaming. The X series to be precise. Mega Man X is that game I can play for 3 hours straight, beat it 5 or so times in that span of time, and still not get tired of it. To this day it's still my favorite video game of all time.

Happy birthday, Rockman. Maybe someday you'll get another game. ;_;

You don't really get that reference anymore after being renamed Mega Man in the west unfortunately!
