Urgh, this thread is reminding me that I still need to buy Resident Evil: Revelations, Pushmo and Tales of the Abyss. How much does Pushmo cost? And which first RE:R or TotA?
At least I preordered Kid Icarus Uprising so I'll just open my mail box to it on day one or two.

Without even mentioning Nintendo Letterbox, Camera, Sound, Video, Trailers, Demos, Pokedex 3D, or Activity Log... it's been a wild ride. Now this is what I would call a hardcore gamer's system! And so many games yet to buy this year (Resident Evil: Revelations, Super Mario Land, Mario Tennis Open, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Paper Mario 3DS, Animal Crossing 3DS, ... ...)
The 3DS and eShop is probably the best gaming related thing that ever happened to the Brazilian market. The prince o the eshop are in my currency and are *gasp* affordable.
In a country that consoles and PC cost about 3x the price in US, this is a huge thing for me!!
I never though that one day I would be exclusively playing portable game, but apparently this year will be the first. and I am happy with my 3ds
I can't honestly say I've made good use of my purchase. The 3 Nintendo games are solid (though 3D Land was somewhat disappointing for a Mario title), but besides that, I'm not really enjoying the system. I've spent too much money on throwaway titles.
The 3DS isn't bad, but its first year certainly did not live up to my expectations. I still use my DSi XL more since the DS library is (obviously) much more robust and the XL is a far better way to play DS games.
What titles were throw away? Did you buy the system pre price drop?
IMO unless you were happy with the ambassador games I feel like people who wait for Mario + Kart + two bundles are probably infinitely more satisfied with the system. The cheaper entry point is a huge deal, and there hasn't been near the downtime between from when they got the system till now. This especially goes if you throw in online Kart fun and the eshop.
That being said I'd probably have a vastly different opinion of the system if I got mine say last March or April for 250 bones.
Worst purchase of 2011 for me.
Since I see a lot of people saying that DS games look bad on the 3DS due to the resolution difference I want to ask, won't DS games look pretty bad on XL as well? It has the same resolution as other DS models, but with a larger screen. Wouldn't this make the games all stretched out? I don't have a DSiXL so I wouldn't know, but I'd like you to tell me if you do.
Is this a serious post? Vita's western support is nonexistant, aside from Sony's internal studios. Borderlands 2 was just a vague expression of interest in the platform by an individual developer. It's less than vaporware.Vita is getting good amount of western support if you look the news and rumours. Borderlands 2 for Vita? where are same caliber quality games for 3DS from western developers? there are none, zero, and Vita is just released and it's seems to get lot's of quality support. 3DS is 1 year old and there is nothing of that sort for the system, quite sad if you ask me.
Well how about the upcoming Bioshock or Call of Duty for Vita?
I would say those titles are pretty popular.

My only disappointment was at how short Star Fox was.
How short?
I was wondering what everyone's playtime was for 2011. I didn't really see it here so I'll start:
I know some people on here will probably have a lot more, but I generally never play games to that much any more because of school - the last years of my undergrad, so I barely get time unless its on the bus/train rides ... but seems like I play often enough still.
When the NA birthday rolls around, I plan on starting a thread to collect people's 3DS stats, including things like most frequently played games, their respective gameplay times, total steps taken, total streetpasses, things like that. The 3DS makes it super easy to access this info.
I think it would be interesting to see how GAF has played with their 3DS for its first year.
3DS is a good system for sure and I am looking forward to Luigi's Mansion 2, Mario Tennis and Paper Mario whenever they turn up. I am struggling through RE:R at the moment which I don't really think much to. Still, it's better than RE5 at least, but that's not saying much.
My main issue with 3DS is that it's fucking uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time. I commute 2hrs a day to work and during that time I spend nearly 1.hrs playing games on 3DS (yes, it requires charging when I get to work or it won't survive the trip home) and its fucking agony playing on it sometimes.
Bigger, more comfortable system please with bigger buttons.
It's list of doom for me is
- SHOCKING battery life
- Uncomfortable design
- Small input buttons
- 3D is useless because the angle of bite is so narrow. Does give a nice effect sometimes.
- No 2nd analog, and oh look what they've done to fix it
- NO DOWNLOADABLE GAMES!!! Why do I have to switch game cartridges in 2011/2012?
I am sure a new system will come out and fix most of those issues. I really hope Nintendo sort out fully downloadable games though, that would be rad.
