I sincerely hope Sony did not blow money on setting up this studio.
KP is not a 1st-party studio, they shouldn't be entitled to any WWS resources.
Looks really cool no doubt, but spending so much money on just the office when you're still years away from releasing your 1st product seems kinda vain
Yep. All Sony.Neat. Did Sony pay for all that or does he have separate investors?
You're kidding, right? Kojima is cash money. That smile on Andrew House's face isn't going anywhere.Holy shit. Sony must be sweating right for giving him a blank check.
I think Kojima and his studio might lean towards Sony this gen because of this. Not completely but a high probabilty. So maybe from a business prospective this is building bridges with a future MM seller?I sincerely hope Sony did not blow money on setting up this studio.

Next you'll be telling me this is how they set the table every time they invite him to talk about budgetKojima is getting paid in coffee and chocolates

Unless Sony outright purchases KP. Which can still happen.
I would like to work there.
But i have no talent, and not fluent in Japanese.

Kojima is getting paid in coffee and chocolates
And in movies and alcohol (For those not in the know Kojima drinks A LOT of alcohol)
Frankly it feels like Sony is giving Kojima anything he wants

Anecdotally, whenever we see a Sony face behind every first-party project, it's 99% of the time Shu Yoshida.
Which makes sense. He's president of first-party. His very job is portfolio management of first party investment. It doesn't matter if it's a Naughty Dog game or an XDev game.
But with Death Stranding/Kojima... Sony's face, the ones Kojima has meetings with... is Andrew House himself.
There is definitely the impression that this is a deal that is above even Shu's management of authority.
I really, truly, don't think Sony care about making a profit off of the deal with Death Stranding, similarly to situations like The Last Guardian. This is a statement piece through and through.
Indeed. It kind of feels like Sony basically gave Kojima a blank check to do whatever he wants. Just look at the actors alone he has involved with Death Stranding. Guillermo del Toro, Norman Reedus, and Mads Mikkelsen. That does not come cheap.

Cool. Let's split the ticket. 😝We both can be janitor there.
Nice studio, i hope kojima productions makes a great game with death stranding.
But in the bbc interview:
"What I really want to avoid is, like you see in some games, characters with big breasts with no back story.
"If I make characters that at first glance might look like this then they'll have a deep background story to give a specific reason why."
ashamed of my word and deeds 2.0?

I think it just them investing in the future of a (probably) major studio more than anything, Kojima has played a massive role in PlayStation's past and Sony want him to play 1 in it's future. I think it's easy for them to justify too, as Kojima as most likely made PlayStation 100 of millions (if not billions) over the years, with his games being massive console sellers for the platform.
No doubt, not to mention Sony themselves has openly stated on record they don't need all 1st party games to make a profit for it to be worth it to them. They like to put forward the idea they are willing to take risks and that they are focused on the core gamer.
Now, Death Stranding may move serious units and be highly profitable. But frankly I think that's secondary to Sony. They are more concerned with being able to openly talk about having the next game from Kojima exclusive and a new IP at that.
There is definitely the impression that this is a deal that is above even Shu's management of authority.
I wish he could get a similiar celebrity treatment to Kojima's at this E3Can someone get some chocolates and coffee for Kamiya?
