I'm very disappointed in some of the decisions made by Bungie

Oh boy, oh boy! How can this company make games that are super-duper fun like Destiny, but at the same time, do things that make everyone go, "What in the world?!" Especially their fanbase, yikes!

Now, you know what we could do? We could just ignore whatever silly stuff they put out. If their games aren't our cup of tea, then let's just skip 'em, right?

But wait, there's a reason I care so much! Destiny has this amazing gameplay, like whoa! And the visuals? They're like a magical dream come true! And the story, oh my goodness, it's like a book that comes to life! But here's the thing, it's really, really tough to stay excited when the developer decides to delete the story content that I paid for in the very first year of their game's life cycle. And then they come up with this wacky explanation about a "content vault" and feature stuff that they caused because of, well, poor planning and stuff. That's when I said, "No way, Jose!" I gave up on the game and only managed to snatch up some of the recent expansions when they were on super-duper sale. But guess what? I totally missed out on Forsaken! Bungie left me in the dark about that first year's content, and I left the game for a few years. So, now I'm clueless about that part of the story, even though it's supposed to be the bee's knees in D2's timeline. On the other hand, I don't really regret not buying that expansion because guess what? It got DELETED too! Can you believe it?

Oh my, Bungie!

And you know what? I can barely remember what happened after The Red War with the Curse of The Osiris and Warmind expansions. Can you believe it? So, am I supposed to go to YouTube and just sit there, doing nothing but watching someone else play through those campaigns? Just to catch up and figure out what in the world is going on in the story that I can actually play right now? I mean, it's an MMO shooter, and maybe most players don't care, but goodness gracious, storytelling in live service and MMO games can be such a wacky idea! Destiny 2 really takes the cake!

And now, Beyond Light came out recently, and oh boy, it was a complete disaster! Phew, thank goodness I didn't buy that one, even though I was tempted. But hey, what's gonna happen when The Final Shape comes out? Will they finally bring back the content I paid for years ago? Will I finally get to play through Forsaken? Golly gee, who knows? But seriously, can't they make an MMO game that lets us play all the content from the past right from the start? I mean, every other MMO out there seems to pull it off, but it seems like Bungie's having a tough time with that.

Oh, and now they're slapping the name Marathon on some PvP extraction shooter? Silly, silly Bungie! Marathon was a series of single-player boomer shooters, like a big brother to Halo! So, using its name for another money-focused live service game? That's just downright goofy, if you ask me!

Just the reality of the market settling in for some.
Nope, my grievance is very specifically with Destiny 2 and it's been going on for years now.

This recent trailer with Cayde-6 only reminded me of that because I still can't get over the fact that I missed out on Forsaken. It just kinda made me overflow with bitterness, lol.

Serious question, how much coke did you do before writing all that?

You guys are awfully quick to judge based on a trailer. Wait for the game to actually come out.

Depending on which part are you referring to, specifically:
1. The damage to Destiny 2 has been already done, and now it's a last chance for Bungie to set things right (although I doubt they will).
2. Extraction shooters simply aren't my thing. I would be excited for a modern reboot of single player Marathon because I liked those old games back in the day, but what they're cooking up right now is simply not for me and I'm disappointed.

They never respected my time grinding- by negating all my hard work to replace it with the next expansion. Rather than making these legacy items useful - they make em obsolete to force you into another expansion rather than BUILDING.
By not respecting my time or grind, i left about two years ago. Amazing game- dumb policies as you stated.

Yeah, honestly, reading the Marathon name and seeing the logo made me hyped. But I was really confused because nothing about that footage screamed Marathon that I was familiar with at all, lol.

Then it's announced as a PVP extraction shooter? Eeeeeesh. I'll try to maintain an open mind, but it's already losing me.

Destiny hasn’t gotten an update to their PVP mode in years. We have known they were working on a pvp project for literally years now. Sony already has a strong presence with single player games, but they are weak with live services. They purchased Bungie to help grow this live service strategy.

I mean they were very clear at the time of acquisition that this was the goal, here it is. Live service games make money. Sony wants money. Jesus it’s not rocket science man.

To be fair, the art style looks pretty interesting. It's that second thing you mentioned is what killed my interested.

Yeah, honestly I thought it looked great art style and all, until I saw the Marathon logo. Then I was a bit puzzled I'll admit. Yeah, outside of Dark & Darker, I haven't found any enjoyment in the realm of extraction shooters.

I dont know why your other thread got locked but Bungie are literally unethical as fuck and people should know.

If you support them you literally support the death of gaming.

IMO GaaS game only need 1 major hit

For MP games, you want your player base to be as large and concentrated as possible, splitting gamer's attention into different game is begging for failure.

If I were the decision maker I would make sure that 1 GaaS had top notch quality, rest of the resources should still go to Single player experience.

True. Unfortunately, though, everyone wants to jump on the bandwagon whenever some company comes up with a new money-making scheme. But in the end, it's always the company who came up with the idea in the first place will be the only ones to benefit from it and everyone else will just keep flooding the market with raw sewage to the tune of diminishing returns.

My new player experience in Destiny 2 last year was that it played well, looks good, but I had no reason to care about anything, and it seemed made by people who love the smell of their own farts.
I recently listened to an interview on SkillUp with the creative director for this game and even he couldn't give a single straight answer to any of the questions they were asking. The only thing I could think of is that it must be a nightmare working under that guy, lol. But it did at least provide some context as to why the game is such an incoherent mess.

I am so bitter towards this pos developer myself. The content vaulting is so disgusting anti consumer shit. They vaulted what? $150 worth of stuff?

I would actually have to see gameplay first before deciding. I can't really make the judgement based on them being a Sony owned developer.

Ya know…. I just doubt this is the only new game they have cooking. Since it’s likely the pvp “a-team” got dedicated to this from destiny awhile ago…. It just seems that there are other assets of Bungie being used elsewhere

I've been stuck playing D2 for far too long, and it's taken away from me enjoying other games. So I don't care how good this new game might be, I'm not getting involved with any more GaaS titles in the future.

Worse than goofy its down right disrespectfull to old school Marathon fans to use the name in that way. For this shovelware trash?

Honestly I'm just waiting for this shit to be over with I've been invested in this franchise for almost 9 yrs it's time for a new IP it started so damn strong then had some rocky updates to them eventually flat out abandon PVP I'm over it just let me play the final shape now and hopefully the raid is amazing because this one freaking sucks it took a step back from VOW. Bungie is just too talented of a studio to be stuck on destiny 2 for so long..you got old baby it's time to hang it up 😩

I pretty much stopped caring about Destiny entirely after Beyond Light. Well, I actually stopped caring during Shadowkeep but because they put Beyond Light up on Game Pass I played through it. And when I stopped caring about playing Destiny, I basically stopped caring about Bungie.

I hit the same level of complete and total burnout with Destiny as I did with World of Warcraft -- except I hit the wall in Destiny after 5.5 years, whereas it took 11.5 years before I hit that wall for WoW. Bungie has so mismanaged the game that all my interest is gone. Their entire design ethos now is FOMO and greed.

The fact that they're turning Marathon into a shitty PVP extraction shooter and they're so desperate to rekindle people's interest in Destiny that they're bringing Cayde-6 back tells me modern Bungie isn't worth my time or money.

Even though Bungie is "independent" Sony still has a certain level of influence on them. Sony has a certain way of doing things when it comes to the titles that Bungie specialises in. However it's early to say whether or that influence will have a negative impact on Bungies games.

Like I said I need to see more from Marathon before judging it. And hopefully Sony influences Bungie in a positive way with it.

Just wait for it, maybe they add a singleplayer campaign. It doesn't make much sense using the name only some boomers remember and not giving them what they want. Rise Of The Triad (2013) also had both SP + MP.

Yeah but then they will take the single player away after you have paid for it tho

We'll see if they'll make good on their word not to remove any more story content from D2. I mean, you can't trust these bozos anyway but if that's actually true then that's at least one step in the right direction. The other one would be to put back all of the vaulted story content back in the game.
