Yep and I take it to mean they are being cautious about hurting the console. Surely the sweet spot price for every two year old game wasn't $60. Some must have had better $$ projections at 50 or 40. They just pegged it lol.
Seems like they don't have any interesting plans for pc like their own store or anything. Just there for a little easy money.
Sony quietly releasing PC ports isnt a problem IMO. Hell, if they can make more money go ahead. The fear PS gamers will flock to PC is obviously a fairy tale.
If Sony is happy doing 2-4 year old ports at PC full price go ahead. But if they want more sales units, the price has to come down. Not only because it's old games, but PC gamers are bargain hunters. I'm new to Steam/GOG myself starting in Xmas 2020 and even I know to wait for 50% off deals. And for GOG wait for like 70% off deals.
I see for Sony the PC market is treated like the liquidation market for companies that sell typical shit you see in Walmart. It comes much later on, treated as leftovers, BUT priced low. Sold low to liquidators and they resell it for cheap. I'm not saying dump it right away on PC for 80% off, but a more modest price which fits the market. If it's a day one game, then yes sell it full price. But if it's a 3 year old port, it's an old game. No shoppers are going to buy in giant quantities at a liquidators at full pricing from years ago.
But it really comes down to what Sony wants. If their strategy and sales internally are hitting the mark what they want to do (not rock the boat with PS gamers and perception), then keep doing what they are doing. And by the looks of it, only some of the key action hits like Horizon and GOW and DG are doing well. The rest are doing terribly.
