Internet Channel on Wii now free, Flash updated (refunds if you paid)

I can't update it (adding a new phone line and changing ISP provider at home), but I was told by a coworker that now Argentina (South America) has a Nintendo Shop/Channel (which may not be important news to you all, but it is for us, since it would allow us to use our own credit cards to buy items). Maybe some more countries have been added.

Wow, VC sales must be tanking like **** in Japan

Also Nintendo now realizes how stupid it is to make people pay for The Internet channel when Sony's (now much cheaper) PS3 is touting "FREE Web Browser Out of the Box" and Nintendo's (no longer nearly as cheaper) system is asking for a fee.


Unfortunately this won't do much, if anything, to slow down the impending surge of interest of Sony's now cheaper "does-it-all" system.

it's great for surfing youtube videos with a group of people, where the tv is a way more friendly setup (generally) than the pc. sometimes it's just a faster way to get to the internet than my pc - i can probably fire up the wii, go to the internet, and hit a site faster than i can get my desktop to boot.

i'm a bit surprised how much i use it given how flakey it is. hopefully they've added some stability and better memory management for large videos.

youtube's counterpart of porn(not the red one though) works now.
just make sure that the zoom level is on 100%, otherwise the videos get disordered.

edit: beaten by a mile :((

Aside page tabs, that prototype GUI was ugly, so yeah it´s the new version with updated flash =)

I can't see the reason to plug in my Wii and bother with all the custom firmware stuff just to do this. :/ I'll just stick with the PS3 browser which is nearly the same thing on consoles. :|

Why you would want run of a custom firmware? This official Nintendo´s stuff, it should work with whatever firmware. And install a custom firmware (if you have homebrew stuff) takes what, 10 mins max.?

Sometimes, I'm sitting on my ass in front of the TV and Sportscenter isn't telling me the things I want to know about. In those times, it's SOOO much easier to just turn on my Wii, bring up the Internet browser and look at ESPN from my comfy chair.

Does no one else have times like these? How can so many people say the Wii's Internet browser is worthless? I just don't get it.

This was nintendo's response to PS3's firmware update to 3.0... an update to an internet browser limited to a system on 480p.

haha j/k good job nintendo :p

Yes, I use my Wii browser almost every day. Much better for watching Youtube videos with the family. But I have no use for the flash update. Well, better to be safe for the future.

I did not get any points refund. :(.

It says on the account activity that I got -500 points but on front page or buying screen no points are shown. :(

Does anyone know when the DSi browser was updated? I was checking around the store last week when I noticed that I could download an updated version. Anyone know what changed? I initially downloaded the bowser on the US launch date.

I'm not sure what internet channel is but it so confusing when the contents has a different labeling.
