Just got around to listening to jazzhip , man the teamspooky album opened my eyes -

PDP - Keep Your Eyes Closed

ended up using a couple of instrumentals from tracks posted here to write a couple songs for fun:

Hell Of A Time (using Otso's "Encre soluble")

Smile On My Face (using Thrupence's "Synchronous Bloom")
sappy as fuck, but damn this track makes me feel all happy

On a separate note, I checked in on Sabzi's instrumental page, and goddamn he's been adding a bunch of shit since the last time I saw it. Including the instrumentals for one of my favorite albums of last year, Cinemetropolis. I have a hard time comparing his newer production to anything else I've heard, but I dig the hell out of it. His older stuff is still dope though.

I should be doing hw said:
This really is the secret best thread on GAF

Agreed.

damn, CCR always delivers. Evil Needle's Cirrostratus from last year wasn't bad either.
checking out new blazo, then onto SC's post. your last track was good too man.

This really is the secret best thread on GAF. Black Sands is my new favourite album of recent memory.

damn, i got a new favorite jr member, welcome jflex!

cant wait to hear your tracks later tonight, i adore Humming Jazz and excellent call on Substantial's lyrics on Heart:

The music need a little more heart, a little more soul
Either too hot or a little too cold
Way too many shallow verses
Nothing deep rather surface
Too weak to be defined as timeless
So we gotta guide these blinded rhymers
Away from their shiny diamonds and fancy coats
Show’em what matters most
Rappers boast, stunt and show off
Scared to be looked at as something so soft
Trying to be hard but they’re hardly real
Making so-called music you hardly feel
...

one of my favorite lyrics from the dude. ive been working my way through his solo stuff, was gonna check out more Five Deez soon - i wish he'd perform down here one day, it's the closest we'd get to the HydeOut scene, sadly.

Rain falling and Consider my love are my other standout tracks. anyway, keep it coming man!

I'm glad y'all like it, I have been on the forums for a while, but NeoGAF took more than 4 months to activate my account, those bastards!!.

I have more music i will be uploading soon, more great music for your life's soundtrack!.

I like this group, it is called Dakah Hip Hop Orchestra, they have like 70 musicians mixing classical music with hip hop... If you like this then i can upload more tracks, listen to it with earphones and preferably with some nice herbs ;) so you can appreciate the whole orchestra more.

Dakah: Tribute to the roots " Rootrology" "The love of my life"

I always peek in this thread, and I've been meaning to sit down one day and listen to all the recs in this thread.

Has anyone here ever listened to Nujabes mixtapes? Hydeout Sound Lab/Ristorante and Sweet Sticky Thing?

I wish he had put more together; Sweet Sticky Thing made me realize how much I enjoy oldschool Soul and R&B, and Hydeout Sound Lab/Ristorante is a pretty dope mix of tracks.

As others have already said, Lorn's new album is pretty fantastic. Kind grungy, kinda dubsteppy, kinda dark.

I don't play piano but have been wanting to play this (even tho you probably can't do those cutting effects on a real piano), anyone have the notes maybe? If I do it by ear it'll take me weeks even tho it's simple

What's the best of this genre? I need work music.

I love Samurai Champloo so Nujabes is a must, what's his best album, and then what else should I listen to?

I'd say start out with modal soul and then methaphorical music, and also listen to stuff like Soul Below by Ljones, eventually working up to Spiritual State. A lot of it is acquired taste, I remember appreciating SS a lot later than when I first started out listening to it

It is difficult to describe how much I love this thread. Everybody who enjoyed Satisfaction by Ino hidefumi should listen to the rest of his discography as well.

Bonobo - Black Sands Remixed

* It is an official remix tape of one of the thread's fav albums, but I have to say, honestly; I'm not feeling most of the "Black Sands" remixes - not yet, though; I will also say that this tape does already win in another area: it has two 'brand new' tracks: An updated version of "Ghost Ship," and a locally released copy of "Brace Brace," which was initially a bonus track on the JP edition of "Black Sands."

I can't believe I've never seen this thread. I love this kind of music but I never knew where to look for it. I've only listened to one Nujabes track and I already know I love his music. I've got a lot of listening to do when I wake up tomorrow!

Please help me with my bad english
Gotta say: after years of listening Departure, the second half of the album, made by Fat Jon, is overall better than Nujabes contribution in that soundtrack.

a perfect thread to check back in on - so much catching up to do!

and yeah, still no updates on an Eternal Soul, which kills me. i have that imported book (tribute to Nujabes) from earlier in this thread but it's mostly pictures, really hoping for more of a look at Seba's life, since all the wiki pages & other resources seem so scarce on info.

Hi Jazz Hop. Would someone be kind enough to recommend an album for me to listen to? I have never gotten into this genre. I would like the album to be chill and happy sounding for work and homework (programming).

Give me an Amazon link please, I need to use my mp3 credit.

how many of you have heard of Michael Hunter?
he wrote & recorded the theme songs for GTA4 and San Andreas, but has also been quietly releasing excellent records on small labels for over a decade now. he goes under different names but under the name Pablo he's recorded some really good jazzy hiphop influenced stuff.

Reincarnation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGH5dhs_llc
High Jazz http://www.redhookrecordings.com/mp3/pablo - high jazz.mp3
Roll Call http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoCTZe4I0qQ

this one isn't instrumental, but i dread to think how long it took him to find all those vocal samples, then getting them to rhyme while telling a story
