This might be my favourite thread to lurk.

Anyone got some album/artist recommendations for more up-tempo jazz-hop?

I'd recommend

P.SUS - Sky Rhythms

Bakoda - Sketchbook (this was recently released, and it's 40 tracks)

Blazo - Colors of Jazz (sequel's coming soon, apparently!)

Kenichiro Nishihara - Humming Jazz

There are a few.
Man, it was harder than I thought finding some up-tempo stuff haha..

Has Ljones put anything out since Soul Below? That song came on randomly today so I revisited the album, so smooth.

Here's what's been posted so far (that's not on the album):

Came out a few days, and I've been listening to it a lot:

Man, I hope they tour with Emancipator again.. it seems like they'd throw a good show.

Oh, and this song is from an upcoming EP that's going to be released on the 17th.

Thanks for those Ljones links, good shit especially Summertime Chill. Any idea when his album is supposed to drop?

Also anyone have any recommendations from the last 6 months or so for free/name your price/$5 or under albums? Definitely going to grab that Masterclass compilation when I get home.

Skimmed through this thread I don't think anyone mentioned Evisbeats yet.

Evisbeats is one of Japan's best Hip-Hop producers, I think he's easily up there with Nujabes, his style is a bit different though, and sounds a bit more cultured. Every one of his albums seems to be inspired by his travels, his last album Amida had many sounds from India, which was where he traveled to. His latest album 一つになるとき seems to be inspired by African music at times, because that was where he went. And the best part is that he doesn't make all instrumentals, he makes straight-up Hip-Hop beats too, which is awesome.

Relaxing instrumental

You will smile

yoga class

Straight Up Hip-Hop

One of the illest beats

So this arrived in the mail today:

Breaks & Beats Disney

This is a compilation of bunch of Japanese producers making Hip-Hop instrumentals using Disney songs. At first I thought this would be really corny but the end result far surpassed my expectations. I'm really impressed with the the way they flip these Disney songs, it's a treat for the ears. And I love how a lot of the songs have new elements to it, definitely warrants repeated listens. I'm always surprised at the amount of talented producers in Japan, strange Nujabes didn't have a song on here, but overall it's charming, creative and plain good old instrumental Hip-Hop (although there is rapping on a few songs though).

Surprisingly this is available on Amazon.com, shipping is cheap too.

Dumbo mix
Fantasia mix
Mary Poppins
Under The Sea Little Mermaid mix

Here are the alternative Vinyl covers, which are limited Japan-only releases it seems:

Makes me wanna fly over there and get one.

You bought the one with 18 tracks and not the EP right?

Although EP has different mixes as well....but it only has 4 songs.

The Aladdin mix and the Beauty and the Beast mix will blow you away.

This isn't quite the same, but that sort of reminds me of this guy named Pogo. He takes sounds from movies and builds all these little samples into songs. It's pretty cool.
