My company provides the organic produce they need to make those bag juices. I haven't seen them order anything from us within the last two months.

What is this? It can't be cheap to make. Over-engineered piece of junk.

It wasn't and they lost money on every one sold apparently. I bet the idea was to make the money back on the proprietary DRM juice bags (lol) that they sold to the more money than sense tits that work at Apple or Google.

The long term goal will have been the same as every other tech startup nowadays, simply to get bought out by a bigger shark. The investors get richer and the owners become investors and the cycle continues.

Anybody that bought this ridiculous machine deserves to no longer be able to buy the bags for it. A genuinely terrible idea.

Is this what the dotcom bubble was like in the late 90s. Every shitty company being overvalued cause they promised to change the world?

uhhhh this is a valid question.

I got one of these things as a gift. does that mean this shit is bricked lol

They're offering refunds, but if you got it as a gift, I don't know if you can get one.

It'd be nice if they at least released a firmware upgrade that let the machine smash any bags you wanted with it.

This is fucking tame compared to the money that was being farted around back then. I seem to recall one Dot Com spent like $500 million on advertising and marketing without even selling a single product yet.

I swear venture capitalists that fund stuff like this are among the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet.

Can't say I'm surprised. The juicer is an over-engineered piece of crap.

Here's a video that shows what's inside Juicero:

This is amazing.

When he opens it up. "This is pornographically beautiful!"

It's an over-engineered piece of shit, but the over-engineering really is something to see.

Internals seem to look like the product initially was to crush real fruit products for juice. Some high quality engineered metal parts in there.

Looks like marketing department or question regarding "How do we make money?" took over the project. Customers most likely would choose blenders over this overly expensive tool. Then the buzz trend of monthly subscriptions would sustain the company had not the media not reported the flaw in the subscription model.

Now what will I use to point to how fundamentally stupid silicon Valley startups are

Anyone wanna give me the inside scoop on the next Juicero?

There was some kind of DRM on it. It scanned a QR code on the package and wouldn't squeeze without it or whatever. :p

There's no DRM that will keep your hands from working.
