I think I like CD and lr the most because...the beats and vocals weren't so dark for lack of a better word? Like, there was actually treble used, whereas everything since fantasy is just like a blanket being laid over the sound.

That make sense?

MBDTF is a complete thought.

Yeezus is kind of all over the place but has this undercurrent of anger and frustration which I think is kind of the point.

They both fulfill their objectives but MBDTF is an important album to me on multiple levels (first real hip hop album I owned and actually appreciated, opened up doors for me musically, has resonance for a very specific time and place to me) so I like it more because of those reasons.

808s is my second favorite Kanye album so I'm a fucking weirdo anyway.

... also he was courting the shit out of banks before yeezus, tryna sign her. so, timing supports this.

ah, for real? first ive heard of that, had no idea

808s > WTT > Yeezus > MBDTF > Graduation >>> Late Reg >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> CD

cacos stahp

The Twisted Fantasy haters baffle me. Shit is a modern classic.

it's an overproduced mess with a few nice tracks & a lotta throwaway ones, yeezus certainly failed in some areas but the highs were higher and at least it was trying something, Fantasy is likewise not coherent but also not really noteworthy either, is the thing

Gorgeous
Power
Monster
Devil In A New Dress
Blame Game
Runaway
Hell of A Life
Lost in The World

Like it's fine to hold it in low esteem in Kanye's catalog but it's a solid fucking album.

Yeah I don't see how Yeezus is the album MBDTF wanted to be. MBDTF is lush, exuberant, baroque, and luxurious. Yeezus is caustic, self-obssessed, and angry. They both share Kanye's ear for a catchy pop hook but they're not especially similar.
I like Yeezus right when listening to it, but I am not sure if it is my favorite of his CD's. I seriously think that MBDTF is my favorite, it just keeps hitting all the way through without relenting. Yeezus on the other hand just isn't as entirely strong all the way through.

On the new album topic.... Oh Yeezus, wash over me. The season approaches!

Yeezus was a load of rich creamery butter (in a bad way and of course, by Ye standards). Ditto calls for MBDTF and older-status, please. New/distinct sound, sure, whatever, just not Yeezus again.

I've come around on Yeezus. I wasn't feeling it that much at first outside a couple songs, but I've been putting it on recently and letting it ride and get annoyed it's over so quick.

not a particular track but the overall sound and feel of the whole album. i remember hearing 212 years ago thinking "damn this is dope, this some next level shit". then hearing yeezus and thinking ugh "this fool tryna go next level but failing" then hearing 212 again and it all making sense what kanye was going for... also he was courting the shit out of banks before yeezus, tryna sign her. so, timing supports this.
I'm gonna need receipts for this, because this sounds preposterous.

You're not alone in this.
MBDTF introduced me to Kanye's work. I loved most of the tracks on that album. Then I listened to Yeezus, which is now my favorite album. It took me a while to fully appreciate Yeezus, but when I did, that album just clicked with me. I love the variety and the intensity of the album. The length is also great. I feel it ends just before I get bored of it.

Then I checked out the rest of his work avoiding 808, because I heard few songs on 808 and judged it not for me. Few weeks ago I went back to it. I realized there are some similarities between 808 and Yeezus in terms of how they both share minimalist tracks but have different moods, Yeezus is anger, 808 sadness.

For me:
1. Yeezus
2. 808
3. the rest.

oh yeah, you gotta be a troll if you don't dig that track where nicki outraps ye, jigga & ross

or lost in a world, hell of a life etc forgettable-ass tracks compared to ye's output on better albums

don't they usually gas the album up tho? i'm on the right side of history, but i'm a minority voice, fam

the type is worse than indie rock hipsters

It's awesome so many people on GAF love Ye. He's actually in my personal top 3 favorite artists list. Been a huge fan since CD. I've even met him a few times and have some stuff autographed. I treasure my 808s limited Vinyl i got signed by Ye. So I'm super excited to enjoy this album with you guys.

Edit: my personal ranking is:

LR > CD > MBDTF > 808s > Graduation > Yeezus > WTT > Cruel Summer

I go back and forth with Graduation. I always loved it. The production and sampling is so good. Its a fantastic pop record. Only thing that knocks it down a bit for me is the lyrics. They aren't as strong as CD or LR.

But man this album is amazing with headphones.

All of the snippets so far sound yeezus esque (god level, piss in your grave, bitch please, etc). I feel bad for y'all who couldn't enjoy yeezus, I think its easily in his top 3 albums. This is gonna take that sound to the next level, I'm hyped as fuck.

I really don't think there is another artist on GAF who gets as much attention/threads made on GAF about them. And its usually people arguing over which album of his best, when he's just a really great artist all around.
