would it be crazy to think PSVR will be PC compatible!?

Absolutely mental, though I'm sure hobbyists will try to get it working.

I don't think there is a piece of consoletech that has not been broken to work with PC. Motion controls, Wii U gamepad etc, all are working with PCs. Hellmyou could even get adaptors for console dance mats.

I actually expect the PSVR to be a lot easier to crack. Trust me less than 6 months out the gate there will be a serviceable crack to allow you to use it with your PC.

The question is what games will be available on PC that won't already be on PSVR, I say this as I Vive and Oculus already have walled gardens with exclusives so I expect the remain third parties will op to be on all stores anyway. Unless your talking about VR apps that may not come to PSVR like theatre apps, porn apps, tour apps etc.

PSVR being cracked to work on PC would be the greatest thing to happen to it. It then becomes the defacto one size fits all device. Covering all platforms that are VR capable.

I just read on reddit by a supposed developer a post 14 days ago that the rift costs 600, and PSVR (barebones set I assume) costs 300-350.

The price, coupled with the decent library could be a slam dunk for Sony.

I'm sorry if that makes me come of as an ass or patronizing, but I feel that people if people were as vocal about the hardware inside the PS4/X1 and it's launch price as they are about the specs in the VR headsets and the high price point we could have gotten better consoles. Like I would have rather paid $600 for a better spec'ed PS4 than I am willing to do for these headsets, but I know people would not have been as accepting of that price point as they are with VR. If it doesn't make sense then just ignore stupid comments.

I'm am 100% interested in VR, but the price point seems to high for something that is totally unproven beyond some wonderful demos.
The difference between an attractively-priced console and an attractively-priced VR headset is that one of the two will make tens of millions of people vomit.

VR companies would rather have 1 million people spreading positive word of mouth than have 20 million people spreading negativity.

Looking forward to it. Was it just conjecture or was it actually said that they didn't want to price it higher than the console? I've been wagering £300 for a while now, which is still substantially cheaper than the Rift.

Sony said it will be priced like a new platform/console and that they are not going to make a profit on the headset, they intend to make money on the software.

I don't see any world where this is more expensive than the PS4. Even the same price would be pushing it. I'm sticking with my guess for $250-300 for the headset alone, for people like me who already have cameras and Moves.

They can provide a bundle without Camera (already many have them like around 1-2 million) and Move controllers are not the standard controller in VR for PS4 because DS4 is the VR controller.

It will have to come with the camera standard, there is no way around that. 2 million cameras out of 36 million consoles is far too little. Now the move they can be able to take out to make the decice cheaper.

It is the same camera. Dr. Richard Marks confirmed they made it from the start to be used for VR, only they were not able to say so in the open before Project Morpheus was announced. Same as DS4, they put that LED there for a good reason. :) Move controllers will also be unchanged, so install base of PSVR accessories is already established quite well.

That will work. Some PSVR software needs the Move controller though.

Awesome. So we can asume that there are going to be multiple bundles, right? One with camera, without, with controller, move, games...etc D:

They could probably go $399 but they'd have to throw a killer app like Gran Turismo in and I'm not sure where that'll be ready.

Imagine a Steel Battalion VR game. Probably not, I suppose RIGs should be enough, or FROM do a mech game with VR support.

Can you share a link, I'd like to read that?

I have a question.

I wear glasses cause I can't see things from afar. I can read books just fine, though, without any glasses.

Because the screen is so close to my eyes, will I still need glasses to see stuff that's rendered far?

Hmm read this in the Verge and this quote jumped out at me. Been wondering just how many VR ready PCs there were against PS4's, this might give a decent indication:

"Gaming hardware company Nvidia, which makes many of those graphics cards, recently estimated that only 13 million PCs will fit the bill next year."

http://www.theverge.com/2016/1/8/10723082/nvidia-vr-ready-pcs-bullet-train-everest-ces-2016

36 million, likely to be 40 million PS4's by the time PSVR comes out, and PSVR 99% likely to be cheaper than the Rift, probably significantly so ($400 or less)...

I truly see PSVR being the driver of VR for the foreseeable future. If Sony pull off miracles with the pricing, I think this could be pretty big. Good to see the dev support it has, we need as many varied games and experiences as possible.

Edit: I've just seen its already been mentioned, apologies. Still an intriguing stat in the VR Warz lol.

Probably, I'm near sighted but when I use my Gear VR without my glasses it's a little blurry. You can always try it both ways though.
