[Kojima Station] Metal Gear Solid V: E3 Sneak Peek - June 5, 2014, 8 AM (EDT)

Mainly on rocks etc are really fugly and that they don't even look like textures that would be acceptable by last gen standards.

even with high quality emulation, environmental ps2/xbox textures don't look better than those rock textures at all. more hyperbole.

So i guess the best thing Naughty Dog could accomplish at 30 fps 720 res on ps3 was Uncharted 1 right?

I guess uncharted 3 which was also 720p and 30 fps looks worse...

Same applies to all 30 fps 720p 1st generation ps3 games right? Looks like your logic is flawed...

I don't know what you're expecting, but the e3 2013 looks pretty damn good. Running that in 1080p/60fps (actual 60fps, not unlocked framerate "target" 60fps bullshit) is impressive.
Everybody knows it takes years to fully squeeze every drop out of console, but right now, yeah, MGS V is easily up there with other games that aren't cross gen.

But i will stop because what was once a simple "some textures need work" looks like its heading in the way of me hating this game when in fact it is my most anticipated game...
 
Exactly this. Plus why would they ditch the PS3 version when the latter is outselling the PS4 version in Japan? In fact, the PS3 version of GZ sold a lot of copies worldwide. They should ditch the Xbox versions current & last instead since those didn't sell, at all.
It's not like the last gen versions are holding back current gen MGS5 from looking pretty damn good.

I'll take 60 fps, specially if that carries over to MGO.

I agree with you that everyone knows that you need years of experience to unlock potential but a certtain person a few posts above believes that GZ is the best 1080p 60fps open world game that we will ever see on ps4 and i pointed out as an example games like gtaiv and gtav that had same res (actually gtav has better ...) same fps and even bigger world and yet the difference between them is immense...

And i wasnt expecting anything else other than maybe improving these specific textures that seem sub par to the rest of the game. That isnt though critical for me... I ouldnt care even if it was worse. The game plays like a dream and it is my most anticipated game.

Well I guess we've seen the child soldiers in the trailers. Does anyone have any idea about the various environments expected in TPP?

The discussion said that some of the GZ textures wouldn't be acceptable on last Gen/PS3

I say anything that looks better or improved from the flat/no bump mapping textures on the PS2 are more than acceptable on the PS3


I'm not giving you a hard time. I know you don't really care about this one instance in poor texture work. Just bringing in a different perspective because sometimes we forget how bad the textures were previously and seeing them clearly instead of thru nostalgia or memory can help.

Well if you think about it.... MGS, even the more 'open ones' all take place in a series of small rooms

Nope, you're not.

There's a lot of wide open space in Ground Zeroes. It's the confined nature, detailed interiors/environments, narrative of the game that makes MGS2's map seem bigger than Ground Zeroes'.

Yeah I'm calling BS on this, GZ was smaller then act 2 in MGS4, I say it was half of MGS1 and MGSpw was noway that big, the ladder in MGS3 was longer then any map on that game.

Well yeah, that's true even then they all had this very open feel to them.

That's why I loved GZ so much though, it showed the potential of what Kojima was trying to do and just how he was taking an element that was already present in the series and evolving it to a whole new level. He took that open stealth environment and made it HUGE.

But this, holy crap. I am amazed.

That map was pretty confusing. So phantom pain is just one big world? I thought it was going to be a collection of different sandbox levels, like a giant desert and then a big jungle area etc.

Two big worlds. The desert and the white secret part (probably some place in Africa)

I think this is just one level, but that the levels will be like this with multiple missions in each.

We've already seen from the trailers, interviews, and at the end of GZ that there will obviously be multiple locations(Afghanistan, South Africa).

I think I enjoyed Kojima making incredibly stupid noises more than the footage shown.

The Plant in MGS2 was big in the vertical sense. I'm sure if you lay out each floor on the map it would be bigger.

Anybody have any clue what the symbols on the wrappers could mean?

My friend check my post history. I adore this game, i find the graphics fine really, I only said that some texture work is really sub par and the only other technical issue i have with the game is the clipping and pop in. Other than that I love how the games feels and even looks and I think that fox engine's lighting is among the best ever. But surely MGSV is held back due to being cross gen. But seriously I believe that this

can be improved in the ps4 version.

I understand what you said. However, I feel like you're nitpicking a little. Either that or I just have lower expectations. Yes, they could be better, but on the whole, the game looks great and runs at 1080p 60fps. Good enough for me.

Fuck the texture quality. The true question is if they fixed the draw distance from GZ
and the horrid botched brightness in the PS4 version

It's a phantom cigar because Snake decided to quit smoking and asked Huey to invent the world's first E-Cigar. Now that he lost not only an eye, but an arm and 9 years of his life too, he decided that he should be smoke free. He feels a need he doesn't quite understand, after being 9 years in a coma he shouldn't be addicted anymore. But he still carries a cigar that is not a cigar, just cause of phantoms and shit.


And finally some box action! It's magnificent the way he pops out of the box an no one suspects anything :D

(Even though if it seems a bit overpowered).

Loved the video, can't get more hyped for this game, and if that map size comparison floating around here is true, then shieet.

Did they mention on the stream at all if they will add any more graphical bells and whistles to ps4 and xbo versions? Id really better AA if they can do it without costing fps and red.

This game is going to be brilliant. My only worry are the long load times in the Ground Zeroes, specifically when calling up the menu. Hopefully that doesn't translate to TPP.
