Looks like another third person shooter with puddle deep stealth and RPG elements, IE: Like 99% of AAA 3rd person games that come out these days
Thought i'd chime in after watching all the gameplay footage here. So, as someone who has always been 'lukewarm' to The Division (not bad looking, but nothing had grabbed me about any of its prior gameplay demos), this footage has definitely just turned this game into a 'will not touch' for me. I know theres a lot of people testifying to how great & fun the game is when you play it, and thats fine; there are plenty of games that people have the utmost fun with that I just don't enjoy, and vice versa. Games have to appeal to me on some level for me to allow myself the opportunity to enjoy it, and nothing about this footage, or even any of the earlier scripted demos, have given me a reason to do so for this game.
I'm actually really thankful for this gameplay footage, because it has given a very 'grounded' idea of what the game will look/feel like when all of the gameplay elements aren't blending together in that oh-so-perfect way that the scripted demos have shown us thus far.
Also, to the people saying 'this is just Alpha! Game isn't done yet; let them finish this up before we pass judgement!', a game that is this far out (within 3 months, last I checked) is usually not going to change on any fundamental level.
Or just play the beta when it comes.
Nothing from what I have seen, especially after these pieces of gameplay footage, would ever entice me to try it. I've played 3rd person shooters before, i've played mmo-lite titles before, i've played socially driven games before - nothing i'm seeing here is coming across as some experience that is coming together in a way that makes it greater than the sum of its parts.
What this new footage has done is turned my 'this may or may not be boring, let's see.' into a 'well, looks boring'. If the game & alpha is doing it for people - great, more power to them. This footage however just told me its not something I want at all. I'm sure there are people who have seen this & got super stoked on The Division and i'm happy for them.
Sorry, what a stupid excuse.
There is no reason not to try a beta/demo.
'It doesn't look like something i'm interested in' isn't a valid excuse? I've seen the footage, none of it is appealing to me, especially now. I should just give them more of my time to play their beta? Why would I waste mine & their time if its already something i'm not enjoying.
I'm not even questioning why other's would find it enjoyable. I'm simply stating that, due to this new footage reaffirming some of my already established impressions, and no longer on board. And i'm glad for those became even more hyped with this new footage!
Why click on the thread and make a comment if you clearly already made op you mind before about the game.

I hadn't made up my mind about the game before seeing the footage in the OP. In fact, you even quoted my reasoning as to me being on the fence, and my very first comment was me stating how my opinion on the title both started, and has evolved, as a result of seeing the gameplay footage that is being shown in the OP. I was literally giving commentary to the topic of discussion in this thread - the leaked gameplay Alpha footage. All of my follow-up posts has been in retort to you.
I just dont get why you dont even want to try a beta when its just is free try of playing a game you are slighty intrested in. But then already make a conclusion of some crappy vids. I dont get it. I didnt have much intrest in the game before i played the alpha. He maybe that could happen to you also with the beta. These demo/betá's are a great final decision maker and i dont get why you wouldnt take that opportunity.

He's trolling. I know he's in alpha (junior member) but I wouldn't put much thought into what he's saying, we already know how he will turn out here.
Is anybody else bummed that the "Division" is actually some organization? I thought the name "The Division" was more about an event. Like, an outbreak occurred and since then, people were divided for the sake of survival. People turning on each other, survival of the fittest. That kind of thing.
I guess I just like my concept better.Well we know what it was from the very very first teaser haha.
The Division is just a sleeper cell of agents. When society falls apart, police system isnt working again etc those become active to create some order.

YouTube videos deleted.
Sam Fisher also wore one that's a single strap.
It's burned into my mind as a part of Ubisoft game(s) for some reason.
Before I start a counter to this very negative thread, I will say this. This type of thread is the reason why we can't have nice things. The game clearly has an NDA because the developers are not done with the game and people know how gamers react when they see gameplay regardless of whether it is done or not. The fact that we can't respect that and give the individuals who are working tirelessly on this game a chance to finish it before judging, is why gamers are seen as such a toxic group. So I will break NDA in defense of the game. As someone who has played it versus watching a video and mindlessly coming to a conclusion. It's very funny to read the difference in opinions form those on the alpha forums form NEOgaffers who watched a video. What's the difference, one group played the game and the other did not. Funny how that works, huh?
On the topic of graphical downgrade
Of course, the game has been downgraded. Listen, I don't agree with how Ubi shows their games and then never meet their target. But again, the game is not finished and no poorly compressed YouTube video is going to help . The character models are a bit uneven in their quality but there are several places in this game where I was floored. This is the most detailed recreation of NYC that there has ever been. As a former resident the amount of detail in this game is astonishing! At night time the game is astonishing. The Christmas lights and their reflections at night are a sight to be seen. The snow covered streets feel like they were lived in and the citizens were ripped from their lives. This is no generic city that they call NYC, everything screams legitimacy. The feeling of loneliness and despair is palpable and it is played up via the awesome environment. The game looks overall better in certain areas than others but I was very impressed graphically. You just need to play it for yourself to appreciate the details.
On the topic of the game is boring
This is going to be super subjective. The first time I played the game it was by myself. I will admit it was not very fun.I felt that bored feeling. This will no doubt be something that should be addressed for the final game. Playing the game with a good set of friends is night/day different. Unlike other open world games there are no cars to get in to get to your objective. You walk together and that plays into the level of discovery that is awesome. You discover echoes (stories that allow you to listen in on what happened in that spot before everything went to shit) You discover abandoned apartments in buildings that you allow you to take a peek into how real people lived. And this is what the game is all about. Sure there are missions that are very shooter and game-y but the moments that were most awesome were those in which you just explored. The moments that were grounded in realism. The videos do a very poor job in capturing those moments.
So ya know, maybe the non-Xbox owners should wait until the beta to create an opinion because as someone who was not hyped for this game before playing it has shot to the top of my most wanted list. I don't post often but it sucks to see some leaked ALPHA footage be ripped apart and judged before most people have played in the game. For heaven sakes people give it time.
The game went from what looked like a complex survival game to a destiny rip off. Interest went to -1000.

Comparing this Xbone gameplay (which looks like it was recorded at like 480p and then upscaled to 720p) with something that was most likely done in-engine with all stuff turned up to the max which could only run on PC is not something to scream downgrade for.
Even if you are just jokingly saying that now

Bullshit, what of the reveal footage looked any more complex or survival than what we're getting now?The game went from what looked like a complex survival game to a destiny rip off. Interest went to -1000.
Poorly captured video, uploaded to youtube, from an alpha and from the XBO. Obviously it's going to look bad. I'd wait for the final game running in a top notch PC to compare it properly to the first videos.
Regarding the "controlled leak" claims, I think it doesn't make sense. Ubisoft has a huge youtube channel where they post The Division videos from time to time, so if they want to share a video the team would put it there making sure it looks good.
A Far Cry from the unveiling trailer.
After 3 years, this game actually looks worse.
Edit: Of course now they're gone. Hahaha. But damn, they were up for a very long time.
