Aren't Kemco RPG's awful and low budget? $25 for a bad RPG with esque RPG maker graphics dosn't sound too hot...
Since I'm happy to retro-game, I don't really get the hate for RPG Maker so I'm not qualified to comment on that front. A game engine is a game engine and so long as it does what you set out to achieve there's no reason to knock an engine for not costing $10 000 to license.
As to awful, it's something of a mixed bag. There seems to be multiple sub-studios that Kemco releases games from. The quality varies sharply between studios (one of the studios ,the one who did Eve of Genesis and Aeon Avenger, get consistently poor translations too).
Some of their games are solid 20-hour RPGs. Some are mediocre. They also vary wildly in assumed familiarity with RPGs between games for the same reason (Dark Gate is pretty hard core, by contrast in the Alphadia games you can beat many bosses with Auto-Battle). I don't think any of them are the next big thing but I don't think any of them are truly awful either.
I think Symphony of Eternity is one of their best games, so if you don't like that , you're unlikely to like any of the others (it's not without its flaws though). Symphony of the Origin despite being by the same group pretty much hit a graphic ceiling and suffered for it, low-res sprites are "cute" , static high res images without animation on the other hand look terrible.
As you may have guessed I don't really think the Aeon Avenger / Eve of Genesis games are great. They have a lot of flaws , which the poor translations make worse.
The Alphadia games are pretty much babies first RPG. They aren't bad per se, but they are very easy and there's nothing to sink your teeth into (apart from some post game bonus stuff).
There seems to be one other major group who did End of Aspiration and some others. Kind of middle of the road. Not bad not great.
There are also a handful of games that seem to be by one-off studios (or at least I can't tell who made them) like Covenant of Solitude and Dark Gate , its possible that they are by the same group who just has more range than the others, since the major thing they have in common is that their difficulty is pretty high and their mechanics are pretty in depth (arguably to the point of being overly complex).
