NSMB Wii will probably reach 3 million soon and that's when Nintendo will have thoughts of New Super Mario World and New Yoshi's Island. :D
Have these thoughts, please, Nintendo.

Really, I thought it was in line with previous games in the series when install bases were taken into account.

Proabably i am sure i have read that somewhere, but still, if the PS3 has a 4 million something install base, and 2 million are sold, and your looking at just under half or so that is incredible.

Yeah, New Super Mario Bros. Wii is heavily supply-constrained world-wide. You'd think Nintendo, in this day and age, could react quicker to the high demand. Especially in the US where the game is sold out nationwide (along with Mario Kart Wii...again!).

Is nsmb wii still sold out nationwide in US? Here in Bay Area in California, there are plenty of nsmb wii's. I know that December was bad, but I would think the supply issues is mostly solved by now in the US?

Not if the previous games did the same and from my admittedly vague memory they did. Someone had a list of install bases and sales of previous FFs in another thread...

I expect New Super Mario World on 2012 at the earliest.
I'm rather of the opinion that Nintendo should be positioning 2d Mario games as launch titles for every system they release.

I certainly wouldn't have any problem launching with a 2D Mario. Wonderfully nostalgic.

But launching with 3D Mario and 3D Zelda, and then bringing in 2D Mario mid-stream has worked out fantastically for both the DS and Wii.

01./01. [WII] New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Nintendo) - 268,000 / 2,708,000 (-47%)

New Super Mario Bros. Wii has passed the lifetime totals for both Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Land 2. Super Mario World will be next to fall.

Looking at the Wii games list, Momotaro Railway and Taiko Drum Master have actually been holding up pretty well.
I imagine Taiko would've gotten discounted by now though, but I'm not too sure on Momotaro Railway.
Momotaro also seems to have climbed up quite a bit from the past few weeks.

Samurai Warriors also hasn't been doing too horribly.
It's still a decline in the franchise, but still a decent showing, I guess.

Unfortunately I don't think there is any leak left for us:

Enterbrain
Hardware and full top 30 with new releases - clear
Hardware and some numbers from sinobi - clear
First day sales with sellthrough - clear

Media Create
thedrill blog with slightly altered numbers - clear? (site has to be updated since Christmas)

Good job from both trackers. They disappeared everything in a matter of weeks.

With how Wii sold last month, I foresee another two years without a new console.

So still 2012.

While the Wii version has sold 47% less copies from last week, it will have the "legs" to sell at least a million copies and stay in the software charts for months to come.

It will be a matter of time before Inazuma Eleven 2 will sell one million copies.

Are you making fun of yourself know? It's okay already.

Could be a fully fledged new DS this year. I wouldn't think they'd release a handheld and a console in adjacent years.

New Super Mario DS2 in 2010 and New Super Mario Wii+ in 2012? I could live with that.

Next week there will be sharp drop for everything except for NSMBW (unless Nintendo doesn't restock) but more important next week is PS3 and Wii hardware.

Could be a fully fledged new DS this year.
2010 will see strong sales from NSMBW which came out the last month of 2009, the launch of Galaxy 2 and the launch of NSMB DS 2? I don't think Nintendo wants to become Electronic Arts.

Those NSMBW sales are phenomenal. It's a shame that it'll probably still have ZERO effect on Nintendo's future policies on Mario games.

What exactly do you want Nintendo to change with Mario games? I don't see anything very wrong that has to be fixed.

Isn't Saturday usually the day that Nintendo restocks? That's what I remember from older sold out Nintendo games and systems (like HG/SS).

And Wiimotes sold out is obviously the reason for the big bump of Wii Play.

More 2D Mario? That was a pretty big beef for the last 2 generations...

Not such a great sign for Spirit Tracks, since Phantom Hourglass wasn't released even close to a holiday. It will probably fall much further behind next week. Still, it should do well enough, even if it doesn't reach the same level as Phantom Hourglass.

I think for the holiday, any day can mean restocks. Like the one day I wanted to buy NSMB for DS, but the store was out of stock until the next day.

I think Nintendo should come out with Wii Play Plus and package it with the Motion+ to encourage further adoption of the accessory.

NSMB must have suffered quite badly from shortages, criminal really, sales left on the table.

FF13 did indeed manage to get over 100k on week 3, was well positioned, release date-wise.

Lots of other oldies climbing back to the top 30, too.

Actually, I think it took Nintendo 2 years to START THINKING about a sequel to NSMB, and a few months to develop it.
Unfortunately the development time for NSMW would require muuuuch muuuuuch longer, if they're gonna stay with at least the same depth as the original.
