What was the GBA's final LTD? I see that Nintendo's final shipment number was 17M, but I would imagine that actual sales were 1-2M lower than that. PSP has to be getting near that mark by now.

Also, what do people here think would be a good LTD number for Galaxy 2? While I would like to see it break the 1M mark, I have a feeling that it will fall short of the first game. Would 800k+ be a reasonable guess?

It's a shame to see the weekly MC threads stalling out at around the 2-3 page mark (4-5 pages for you 50 posts per page types) lately. I know that Q1 didn't offer anything as exciting as December's NSMB Wii vs FFXIII, Wii vs PS3 discussions, but these recent threads seem even shorter than they at this point last year. Hopefully a new handheld (or maybe even new handhelds) will re-ignite these threads in coming months.

There's White Knight Chronicles 2 coming out sometime in Summer. The first one did over 300k.
Right I forgot about that one.

It will be interesting to see how the sequel holds up sales wise.

As of right now, Galaxy 2 could end up being another Spirit Tracks.

NSMB Wii will still be selling even as Galaxy 2 launches, taking away lots of potential sales.

I can see it tanking (comparatively). Being a Level 5 game may help boost sales, but the first one was not well received, and the PS3 isn't quite as hard up for jrpgs as it was in Dec 08.

I don't think there is currently anything coming up for the PS3.

Re: Wii..well don't get me started...right now there is nothing, but I have to assume Galaxy 2 will come out relatively soon since it is out in less than 2 months in the U.S.
Ok, i see.

Ah yes, i forgot about Super Mario Galaxy 2. That game should probably be out in Japan "soon" indeed :)

Ah, i forgot about White Knight Chronicles 2 as well.

I also wonder how Super Mario Galaxy 2 and White Knight Chronicles 2 will sell compared to Super Mario Galaxy 1 and White Knight Chronicles 1. I think it shall be interesting to see how these games sell :)

Thanks for info everyone! :)

It is going to sell at least as well as the original. I can't see it bombing. Level 5 success on handheld is only matched by nintendo and capcom monster hunter series.

I don't see it dropping as much as Spirit Tracks did from PH. Phantom Hourglass sold unusually well for a Zelda game post 1998 did it not? Spirit Tracks still did better than Twilight Princess.

On the other hand, 3D Mario post Mario64 has seen three games in the 800k-1200k range. While I agree that Galaxy 2 could easily drop from Galaxy 1's 950k-1M, I doubt it will drop by 400k units.

1) WKC2 is not a handheld title.

2) WKC2 is not a Level5 published title. Sony is publishing, and none of Level 5's Sony published titles did anywhere near 1 million. Even Jeanne D'ark (which was on a handheld) failed to break 100k.

3) Level 5's million sellers were all well received. The same is not true for White Knight Chronicles. I think the game just got lucky, releasing during the holiday season on a system starved for rpgs.

None of your points are wrong, but I think you're ignoring a lot of the more relevant trends for ones that have less impact. Despite the reviews (and I actually think it reviewed better in Dengeki), the original did well commercially, selling to like 10% of the userbase at the time. With almost double the number of PS3 owners out there now, and especially with PS3 software sales trending upwards, I just can't imagine it doing worse.

Plus, if I remember correctly, White Knight Chronicles 2 was on Famitsu readers' top 50 list of most wanted sequels of all time last year.

i wont go for Famitsu top 50 list.. but i think WKC can do anything, can really make an IP or break an IP.. WKC was just an avg reviewed game.. so if the WKC2 is reviewed well n liked well by public than we have seen PS3 audience can really buy even something as unknown as Demons Soul or it can ignore something like Star Ocean a well established IP.

I think PS3 audience do go for quality n if u have a quality title then u will get sales on PS3..

I don't know. It doesn't have the big year-end bump to work in its favor.

Not actually that important

Famitsu's readers polls mean NOTHING, nothing.
In fact, sometimes they mean exactly the opposite; I remember RE4 Gamecube being on the top5 for a couple of years, even TWEWY fared pretty fucking good on their polls... and we know how those played out in the end, right? :lol

RE4 GC - 220k
TWEWY - 192k

Considering WKC sold about 339k, and the general vibe has been that the world of mouth is pretty negative, expecting WKC2 to end up selling 200k+ would not be a total disaster!

11. / 18. [PSP] Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (PSP the Best Reprint) (Capcom)

It just keeps going.

Does anyone have the total sales to date? Has to be approaching 4 million.

Don't have the latest Famitsu web site numbers added in, but here's a software group that contains MHP2G, MHP2G Best, and MHP2G Best Reprint. 3.8 million and growing.
