2 - 2.5 million would be a disaster.
If it can't do 3 million at least, Japan is done.

Just let them announce Pokemon. I really hope it will come and then we will see how many Units this console will sell.

Splatoon and hopefully Monhun and Pokemon.

A bit too early to tell. Let's wait for 3rd party support.

I agree with your prediction though, the sign is on the wall

Nah. There's no writing on the wall. The system is a month and a half old. We won't even be able to accurately predict a LTD total 2 years in. Look at the Wii.

We do know that the Switch is not another Wii U or GameCube though.

I think it's going to sell well beyond expectations when they announce an HD Pokemon for Switch. That Pokemon demand is real. HD Animal Crossing will drive Switch sales too. I know people that don't really play video games, but play Animal Crossing.

I think the 3rd in that trifecta of console movers would be a Monster Hunter announcement. Just imagining being able to play MH on my TV and then take the Switch with me to continue a hunt makes me wish it was here already.

Or...a Dark Souls trilogy would be f'ng bonkers. I would happily play through all of them again.

The 'H' stands for hentai.
1,2 Switch is quite successful, but its primary goal I think is to be an ad for Switch hardware. In all regions, people see 1, 2 Switch and it drives awareness for the console. From a communication stand point, it's brilliant.

This is why, honest it should have been packed in for the West like Wii Sports was for the Wii. Its the kind of silly game you play with friends and family, and you have enough of a good time that the family looks at getting a Switch too.

If Nintendo doesn't do a Holiday pack or bundle it by default after Christmas, they really screwed their potential for the west, especially with this game being a social demo that sells consoles because it is fun.

Just found that SIMS Co., Ltd., behind fishing games like Hooked for Wii and Fish On 3D for 3DS, is developing for Switch:

http://www.sims.co.jp/english.html#sims

Research & Development of software for Nintendo Switch, PlayStationVita, Nintendo 3DS, smartphone, Wii, PC, mobile contents, and so on.

Most recently they've made like a dozen couple buck eShop games for Starsign/Rising Star. Considering how much they've worked with Rising Star and Intergrow (who to my surprise owns Rising Star), I wonder if Intergrow bought SIMS as well.

I'd like to see a major fishing game from SIMS on Switch, but sadly they've not been able to make great fishing games outside of Sega, who they worked on ports of Sega Bass Fishing, and I think they did create Sega Marine Fishing themselves with them.

Sega Bass Fishing Wii was a pretty impressive graphical overhaul and had quite a bit of new content, but it ran poorly at times (though at 60fps) and unfortunately only ran in 480i and 4:3...

Sega Bass/Marine Fishing remaster for Switch... please? :p

Not going to lie, I put tons of hours on the game for the Dreamcast. I even have the silly fishing controller to get maximum benefit.

I would love to get the game on switch
, with a fishing controller pack in please!

And Minecraft:p don't forget that Minecraft Wii U sold pretty well on a dying console.

First time we'd see Minecraft on a Nintendo handheld - it's definetly going to be back in the Media Create charts for the foreseeable future once it's released physically.

I think it is safe to say that Minecraft will be a monster in Japan and the West. It might not have the high initial sales (maybe it might), but it will definitely have a very very very long tail.

I wonder if they're regretting not bringing Revelations HD to the Switch along side PS4 and Xbox. Maybe they'll scramble and try to shit out a port for Switch.

Well they already did Revelations HD for Wii U back in the day. It honestly shouldn't have been that hard to port it imo, but it's Capcom... they don't ever seem to do the most obvious things sometimes...

So pleased with those Switch numbers. I honestly think their software release pacing is spot on for the year. All they need to do is make them fast enough. Interested to see what MK8D brings.

650k for Switch and 475k for Zelda (Switch+WiiU)!

It's fairly remarkable that the Switch has been able to hold so well despite a software lull post-launch. It just shows how much excitement there is around the system. And MK8 Deluxe should arrive just in time to propel it even more.

In regards to the Zelda 1m conversation, I really hope it can reach that at some point. It's already halfway there practically, and we're not even 2 months into the system's life. It still has 2 DLC packs, and a potential GOTY re-release to help it out. I just hope Japan views it as a game to pick up alongside MK8 and Splatoon, and not something that can be replaced by those. It's the perfect complementary single-player experience to go with the multiplayer games.

And Bomberman is doing much better than I thought it would too. 100k seems very possible at this point. That being said, I don't see its legs continuing once more games are available on the system.

Edit: Oh, and I really hope Capcom brings RE7 to the Switch. I already have it on PS4 but I would definitely buy it again because it's so damn good. Especially if they include all the DLC or something like that.

Yeah I think the only real question for the rest of the year is Fall- August/September/October. Right now FE Warriors is slated for Fall and Mario for November but nothing concrete for Xenoblade 2+ any other surprises. If they can maintain consistent releases from Splatoon 2 to Mario, they should be in a good spot.

Nobody believes in Prey? Given the rise for western games in Japan one could think that Prey could sell more than 100.000 LTD but I don't know how are the preorders faring so far :|

Yeah. Like others have stated while western games have continued to sell better this gen it's doesn't affect every single release. You just have to look sales of DOOM last year (6.1k first week) and I guess Prey will be in same ballpark.

Slight correction: You mean FE Warriors :D

I think the games missing from the Switch lineup for the rest of the year in Japan are a Monster Hunter XX port, a Resident Evil port, a new Taiko game, a quick Tales port/remaster, one more Nintendo game (could be Mario Maker port, Pokémon, Smash, or even a party game like Switch Sports, Wario Ware, or Mario Party... I know big range), and I think Square announces some sort of quick cash in like the Seiken Densetsu compilation if Dragon Quest XI doesn't make it.

Oh and I think there will me another Momotaro Dentetsu game also to follow up on the success of last years.

I wonder if there is something grander planned with the Switch version of DQ XI. They are being rather coy about it.

I wouldn't worry about fall.
E3 is going to bring some surprises
more or less surprising
to fill this period with some more titles.

No reason to divert attention from the two versions that are close to release. SE has nothing to gain by talking about the Switch version just yet.

Ideally, if it releases considerably later than the 3DS and PS4 versions, there might actually be a chance that Switch will get the fabled complete version consisting of the both the PS4 and 3DS versions. Normally I'd have said that there's no way SE is releasing a version that makes the PS4 and 3DS versions somewhat redundant, but if we're looking at a release that launches once the other versions have already largely stopped selling... such a thing might theoretically not be impossible anymore! Don't see it happen regardless, but hey.

We know Taiko and Tales are coming, likely this year as weren't all games in that pic with the logos that showed them, plus Sonic Mania, Story of Seasons, etc, releasing this year?

A port of Berseria would've made a lot of sense, hell a Fate-style port with all DLC included (I'd have to imagine the DLC is plentiful and expensive) would've been smart I think.

As I've said, Bandai Namco are a bit behind on support. I mean even Marvelous got Fate ported and announced in a short period after launch, yet we don't even have info on Xenoverse 2 yet. We do have Namco Museum, but I would think that's a lower effort than porting a AA title like Fate/Extella. Even Koei Tecmo and Gust (who are usually absent on Nintendo hardware bar one or two occasions) have Nights of Azure 2 on the way, likely releasing at the same time as the PS4 and Vita versions.

Seems odd that Bandai Namco don't have something like this already announced and out soon. Xenoverse 2 is the only AA title they've announced with an actual title and that's a FAR later release than on PS4. I would hope also that the Switch version will come with all DLC up to that point.

Namco Museum, Seiken Densetsu Trilogy and the Senran Kagura tech demo thing all strike me as things the publishers are desperately throwing together when they've realised how successful Switch and how little software is actually being released.

I don't think they could fit both version on even the biggest Switch cartridge.

Well if they want to sell 5 million copies...(I know it was Kadokawa guy who said that)

Zelda botw is 17GB
I doubt that DQXI would struggle to fit into a bigger switch card if the team want it

I think that AC HD have more chances than Pokemon, especially if Nintendo mobile schedule so far is indicative

The PS4 version of DQXI is something like 40GBs, a Switch version could/would presumably be smaller but then you would also be adding a HD version of the 3DS game which wouldn't be an insignificant amount of data.

The Senran Kagura thing was already discussed prior to the January event.

We knew Takaki wanted to use HD Rumble but the Shinobi Refle thing sounds like a tech demo. I don't think that's what anyone had in mind.

Capcom not jumping on this bandwagon is odd to say the least. They could throw a MM collection, or a quick RE HD port or three if they wanted to rush something in the pipeline. I know they're taking their time with MH for some reason but considering its already come out that they convinced Nintendo to add more RAM to the thing they've obviously talked.

Capcom is one upping them all by selling one thirty year game for $40 instead of several and they somehow managed to get Nintendo to distribute it in Europe and provide marketing support!

That might do pretty well despite itself. What a weird test if it is one.

Them missing launch by a few months is weird considering how well they did with SF IV 3D.

When was the last time we got numbers for the Vita in the west? It seems like Japan is the only area we've had confirmed sales for some time.
