No we don't. Tell me how much has MH sold in the west on a console Full stop? You'll have to look at wii sales for that. How many has it's sold in the west on a PS4 console, scratch that Playstation anything console? We know jack shit about the franchises strength on a PlayStation console, literally nothing. The highest MH anything has sold in the west is around a million.
Its almost like you didn't read the rest of my post:
You're arguments are poor. With such logic you can claim a lot of predictions to have no hold as nothing similar has happened prior. What I've shown is how new IP or even old ones, have achieved considerable success on PS4. Several of these are ARPGs. That, alongside PS4's undeniably large userbase overseas, from a company who says it makes most of its money overseas, is the precedent if a PS4 MH5 was ever going to happen.
One doesn't need to have a released a MH on PS4 to make some sort of gauge on the limits of a MH on PS4.
Personally I'm most looking forward to Capcom's next fiscal call where they try to explain away how all three of their flagship games underperformed expectations.
Last time I checked, RE7 was doing well. Whats the other two? MHXX and DR4? I mean neither have much consequence considering one was a spin off and the other was a franchise thats been on the wayside since the dev change.
As long as RE and MH stay in good health (which they seem to be) I don't think Capcom is in much trouble.
Ok I know 5 million for a portable in Japan still is a bomb
but my take is Sony really has a chance to take mobile gaming forward if they bothered trying.
If Nintendo can release a 720P portable, I had my expectations on Sony going full 1080P portable in Japan.
If they really allow Nintendo to stay alone with the Switch hybrid for even a full year all of the niche stuff that Vita got will get HD Rumble ports and the fanbase will move to a new platform
I just feel it is a mistake if Sony does not stay visible in the portable space. Can't afford to allow Japan to love the hybrid platform from just one company. If Switch 2 starts to challenge PS4 Pro docked specs-wise it could eat up a lot of PS5s Japanese sales.
So for the long term it is not wise to allow Nintendo's hybrid to be the lone portable.
Anyway Media Create threads won't be the same without competition. Maybe you guys just like the Pacman charts
The Switch will never be able to make the PS4 obsolete. Sure its sales will dwarf it, it may even cause a loss of PS4 sales, but its clear Sony are focusing on the global picture here, and as such acquiring Japanese third party support is key. PS4 has no competition in such regards.
Its why nearly every Switch port that is desired is a PS4 game: it receives the lionshare of Japanese third party support. We've already talked about how Japanese pubs are looking at overseas sales with greater focus as well.
