Media Create Sales: Week 30, 2012 (Jul 23 - Jul 29)

Wastes hours checking old Famitsu software data, but that's why we love him.
I think it's in line if you compare install bases of each platform at the time of each respective title's release.

What was the DS install base when the first came out?

My instinct is that this is indeed a bit disappointing.

Is it just me or are people talking up Obon more this year than any other year? It usually pales in comparison to the other two holidays by far.

People were talking as if the 2 days missed from NSMB2's opening week were a huge deal, but even with 2 weeks it hasn't reached either NSMB or NSMBW's opening week.

Comparable to LTD of consoles.

Do you think DQ 1 sold more than 500k in its first week?

It might have, it came off the success that was Portpia Serial Murder Case, the first adventure to break a million in Japan. It was originally programmed for home computers by Horii and ported to Famicom by Nakamura. Nakamura came up with fixed command menues to replace ones inputted with a keyboard.

They reused that mechanic for DQ which is a bit clumsy (since most everything can also be done with the one-touch shortcut button, standard in other RPGs, introduced later in DQ) but they stuck with it since then.

Since it was the next game by the Portpia team it might have done very well out of the door. Not sure though, all we know is that it sold 1.5 million in the end.

Sorry. Lowest entry in last 10-15 years for a dq?
Anyway sales for dqx are good.
Yet the millions of dq9 are another thing.
I am sure dqx will be the most remunerative dq ever anyway.
Now let's see how long does it take to announce Dqxi for the next most successful platform (3ds)

Well there have been several people that have claimed it was stabilizing at 14k, then 12k, then 10k...
Out of curiousity, who said that? I've seen some guessing about that maybe the Vita could be stabilizing, but i havnt seen anyone who said that the Vita would stabilize at i.e 14k for many weeks to come.
