Curious how Dangan Ronpa Another Episode will stack up against the rest of the series.

For comparison:
[PSP] Dangan-Ronpa (Spike) {25/11/10} - 25.564 / NEW

[PSP] Super Dangan-Ronpa 2: Sayonara Zetsubou Gakuen # <ADV> (Spike Chunsoft) {2012.07.26} (¥6.279) - 69.000 / NEW

[PSV] Dangan-Ronpa 1-2: Reload <ADV> (Spike Chunsoft) {2013.10.10} (¥5.229) - 76.172 / NEW

About the same price if purchased separately give or take a few bucks. But you get dem 200 potions included.

Buy of the year.

That's actually what that says, huh

pretty hilarious

at least throw in a master ball or something, 200 potions is useless by the 4th gym lol

I just read a "blast from the past" from lescar that made me laugh.

Good old times:

Bo5sPL2CYAIH0no.jpg

Aah, the good times. When entering the MC threads automatically was followed by a "Holy shit" reaction.

I'm not even gonna lie, the time the DS Lite completely destroyed the sales charts was coinciding with me first noticing sales charts, so it give me completely wrong expectations and assumptions about "normal" sales numbers. "Less than 100k this week? This console is dead!"

You can't buy it without the first one.

Edit: I looked it up and you can only download it within 90 days of obtaining the download code. So both games are sold together permanently. Anyway, no cheaper version with just the second one. It is the usual price for a single game of that sort though.

Is the code all JP is getting? As in, Bayo1 is its own disc in NA and EU right?

That was revealed by Hero of Legend in an old Media Create thread.

LOL well I didn't reveal it, I just passed on info a JP site put up. :p

Road to TGS™.

I excluded Zodiac as it's being developed in Dundee.

I've also been excluding platform additions prior to release like MGSV, Dragon Ball XV, and Sengoku Hime 5.

Did I miss anything?

All software spots for the holiday schedule on 3DS are full - the system is selling and the userbase is there. Its not in a situation like WiiU/PS4 or Vita where people have to take every announcement and over analyse it into the future performance and viability of the system.

There is no reason for Capcom, Bamco, Sega or Co. to announce all their future stuff for the 3DS now - why ? As said the holiday season slots are filled with some of the biggest IPs in the market and a redesign is coming. Why take the focus away from current games when its not needed ? We are just a Nintendo Direct and a couple timed 3rd party announcements away from a better outlook anyway. 3DS software sales are very solid, the system could sell 20k a week for the next two years, as long as the software sells devs wont abandon the system.

n3DS will be very big and after that once the holiday season has finished there will be the time for a batch of new bigger announcements.

If I dig up old Media Create threads from 3-4 months ago I 'll find discussions that 3DS would be dead by 2015 (looking at 2014 H1 hw sales) and the successor should be out at holidays 2014.

At least 2015 Q1 looks to be slow regarding new releases again but YW3 and Pokemon Z are a lock for H2. N3DS will be the only factor of how low or high hw sales will be since software is absent again after holidays.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
About the higher profit margins, are you basing this is some concrete information or just a hunch/gut feeling?

Nintendo's hardware revisions are introduced to breathe new life in the hardware space while also increasing yields, their profit margins.

3DS (profitable until price-cut)
3DS XL (profitable upon launch)
2DS + New 3DS

I don't think management would introduce a new sku without being profitable day one.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

As will be the next DQ monsters title (already teased), there will probably be another Puzzle and Dragons 3DS, Majoras Mask 3D is also happening and Nintendo will unveil more NFC compatible software for the 3DS as well. In addition to titles YW2/Smash Bros we also have MH4G/Pokemon that should sell for a while.

They have a solid holiday lineup - no need to unveil big 2015 games at this point, they just unveiled the n3DS so we know there wont be a 3DS anytime before 2016.

You know which title/series I'm surprised has yet to see a sequel announced for 3DS? Monster Hunter Diary: Poka Poka Airu Village. I thought for sure Capcom would make one of these for 3DS given the death of the PSP, the transition of the MH franchise to the 3DS, etc.

I thought the same, especially considering how big Animal Crossing and these type of games are on 3DS - it could still happen next year, but at this point they might put such a game just on mobile.

I think it's a mistake to assume the next DQ Monsters will be on 3DS.

Yeah.....no. They already have a running DQM service with DQM Super Light on mobiles which they will keep updating instead of introducing a inhouse rival.

What system do you think the game will be on ? They already said that after the remakes ( that were on 3DS), the next game will be an original one and the producer worked on the 3DS remakes.

How so?

I could see a quick mobile cash in, but for a full fledged sequel or remake the 3DS is really their best option to turn the biggest profit.

Where are you praying it would go?

It's a huge mistake to assume the next full fledged Dragon Quest Monsters title won't be on 3DS.

Oh I'm not suggesting it definitely won't be on 3DS but if they are planning DQXI for Sony platforms then it might make sense for them to make the next Monsters game on a Sony platform. The Monsters franchise has appeared on Sony home consoles before and the Battle Road games were branded with Monsters IIRC.

Note I'm also not suggesting it's a good idea for them to ignore 3DS.

I get what you are saying - but putting the next DQ Monsters title on any other tradition gaming other than the 3DS would be a dumb move - even for SE.

Even if DQ11 is a PS3/PS4, no way in hell they would put a monsters game on these systems instead of 3DS.

Weren't they going to announce the next DQ:M game at TGS?

What happened to that?

Sounds more like a Jump Festa announcement to me or even a early 2015 announcements - with YW2 still dominating the charts and Pokemon to hit soon, it doesnt seem like the right time to announce the title if its months away anyway.

Was TGS ever specified? I only remember the next Monsters game was announced as being in production with no further details about a month ago at a DQM2 tournament.

So looking back through our recent announcements and releases, one thing that sticks out to me is that it looks like Sony went directly to Square Enix and Sega and pitched them on porting a bunch of iOS titles to Vita.

Like, the sheer amount and timing of this, along with a few other titles of this nature at the same time from smaller developers, really suggests to me that Sony went around and pitched this idea and likely offered some sort of support (be it PSN front page marketing or otherwise) to try and get this many mobile games at once.

I imagine they primarily targeted things that looked a bit more like handheld games than just your standard card battler or match three game, which is probably why they went after Sega and Square Enix with us seeing nothing from Koei, Konami, or Namco who don't bring as much handheld-nature to their mobile titles.

Sony getting that 3rd party support

I'm curious how long Vita lasts. It doesn't really make sense for a retailer to stock it in the US and Europe doesn't seem that much better. How long can Vita stay afloat with middle of the road Japanese sales?

Well Sony appears to have next to zero internal software development for the Vita left with maybe a couple of exceptions from SCEJ.

The Vita is basically done already in the West. It could be sold solely through Amazon and their own web storefront and likely sell about the same.

As for Japan, the PSP sat for quite a few years past its demise globally, so I'd guess that Sony will basically just let it keep going until third party support stops, since they don't really have to invest much at this point anymore to support what is there.

At this point the system is essentially serving as a stop gap to try and keep Japanese customers engaged while they attempt to shift support on to the PS4.

If I had to guess, if we assume Fall 2016 for the 4DS, I suspect everyone who is still only on the Vita will quickly move on to either that, iOS/Android, and/or the PS4 and faze out the Vita depending on how fast the 4DS rises, how well mobile accepts their games, and/or how alive the PS4 is.

Some of the blockade here is technology related so there's not a huge incentive to move until there's a new system to go to unless the Vita just completely implodes.

Funny as Tales of the World: Reve Unitia is on 3DS, and NOT as a F2P game! :p

I wonder if 3DS's successor will actually be successful, or if it'll be another Wii U.
I mean 3rd parties are already abandoning 3DS, will they even bother with the next system.

The biggest thing I see in its favor is it's not unlikely to be a last-platform-standing among dedicated devices in Japan, so if you want to go that direction, it has some inherent appeal.

The question is how many want to still do that by then.

I'm also kind of curious to see how much iOS/Android/4DS ends up happening given the market shift. We're effectively seeing a lot of test runs of that idea right now.

If it works well, that could eat out some of the traditional support while leaving a different kind of support. It could be the button enabled smartplatform for a lot of publishers.

Why wouldn't they? The SW is clearly still selling on the 3DS and not every dev is going to want to change their franchises to fit the mobile mold. If the system doesn't take off I could see them pulling support, but I think they'll be there for the first year at least. If anything I would like to see Nintendo try and get the companies that really focus on the Vita to bring their support over to the 3DS successor if there's no Vita successor.

I wonder if Wonder Flick for consoles is still a thing. IIRC they showed it running on Vita during the announcement, so you'd think if it was still a thing Level-5 wanted to do, it would show up at TGS alongside the other F2P games.

All they care about is Yokai Watch now. Pretty much everything they announced prior to YW taking off has seemingly become vaporware and I don't think they've announced anything new since then either.

Yes I think they will clearly absorb a lot of Vita support up front since it should at least support the same technology bases and I really can't see Sony launching a successor at this point.

I suspect Level 5 is re-evaluating their projects to an extent, but I really doubt they're dropping everything except Yokai Watch.

I remember in that lengthy Hino interview he also teased that they were also working on another new transmedia franchise, but I could be remembering that incorrectly.

i honestly feel like Sony is holding back on vita announcements. I know a lot of you are going to call me crazy for even thinking it but we will know the answer within the next month if I am right or wrong. My theory is based on my thinking that Sony are about to throw all their eggs in one basket with the release of the PSTV in October 2014 in the US. The device never made sense for the japanese market but I think it could make a big splash in the US if Sony markets it right. i will probably make a thread about this because there are lot of reasons as to why I think this might happen.

Nirolak is not guessing. All SCEWWS are working on PS4.

There's no big plan for Vita or PSTV. They are releasing PSTV because they want to have a cheap netflix/set top box because every company is releasing/have released one, and it will bomb as badly as it did in Japan.

The games that have disappeared were "big" mobile games and now they're probably going to try for projects more similar to YW instead. I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped everything except YW and started over with the new franchise you mentioned.
