First day sellthrough

Resident Evil 6 - 70%
World Soccer Winning Eleven 2013 - same sellthrough and sales with WE2012
Summon Night 3 - 80%
Sol Trigger < 50%

Seems like japanese customers learned to be wary of imageepochs offerings. Good for them, I guess.

Konami and EA should just cut a deal here - rebrand Fifa as WE published by Konami and kill the inhouse product(maybe co-developed for Japan). Konami would save dev costs and have a chance to see sales-growth again, and EA would have a chance to actually sell something in Japan for a change.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Not really since around 50% is still a good ratio for first day sell-through......

Really great sell-through for Resident Evil 6 since it must have had a very big shipment, a +500k opening seems very doable.

List of PS3 games that debuted selling over half a million units:

Final Fantasy XIII - 1,516,532
One Piece: Pirate Warriors - 627,214
Final Fantasy XIII-2 - 605,660
Tales of Xillia - 512,544
----------
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots - 476,334

Moreover,I find it to be quite strange that people talk about me,a guy who barely posted on GAF,and since I don’t like what I see,it's time to say goodbye.

Just an advice: don't let others do your thinking for you

Whoa that ST for gundam is very good. Amazing how the psp can still sell software. I know it's been discussed already, but it's still amazing

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
And preorders started for many things today.
Above all, right now there are just two Wii U items available for preorder: NSMBU and Nintendo Land.
Well, preorders for them started basically minutes ago, and NSMBU is already 8th on Amazon top 100. NintendoLand is 25th.
Animal Crossing almost on top, despite its preorders started at the same time with the Nintendo Wii U games. That's...impressive. And the first game in the chart? Layton v.s. AA.
And still, many PS3 games are high too.

This is going to be an interesting Christmas for Nintendo for sure. And a good one for PS3 software wise.

Untill we know Sony's PS4 plans, is not really that crazy.

If we assume the PS3 keep chugging along for another 2 years, it would have to do a weekly average of about 40.000 units to catch up to the Wii, if the Wii stopped selling today. I would call it quite crazy.

I'm going to be bold and say that overall this is going to be a better holiday period than last year for Nintendo, when the Wii U is counted.

Hell, it's not entirely impossible that the 3DS sells around the same level as it did last year, even though it'll probably do a bit less. There's nothing that will have the same impact as The Holy Trinity, but there are a few million sellers and a good number of second-tier titles sprinkled in.

As bad as Wii is selling this year in Japan, PS3 only made up 410K difference... the gap is 10 times of that at 4118K. PS3 sold slightly over 1.5 mil PS3s a year for the last 2 years in Japan. It will be lower than 1.5 this year. It will be lower again next year. It's gonna take a loooooong time for PS3 to sell that 4 mil required to catch up Wii in Japan.

I don't believe I'm saying that but this continued attack at Parmenides (including myself) starts to look a little annoyning, It's obvious he has an agenda for PS3 but at least he tries to be an active member of sales threads. There are far worse posters, we won't have a party for him leaving.

Its always sad to see people go but if you're going to post with an agenda you need a thick skin

about 3DS lineup: are we still waiting for the "mid october" announcements anticipated by Chris to take place, or the recent sudden investor meeting/Nintendo Direct already revelead everything? Such as the new 3DS bundles, the Wii u supply problem for launch and so on...?

I wasn't on target with the timing of announcements, right? It's not over yet. (last hint from me, since I started to annoy specific people)

I had to ask on your statement anyway, joke or not :) Always interesting to know more about how things are selling i think.

Well just had quick peek round the net and in q1 of this year Sony had only a 9.8% share of flat panel TV sales by revenue (so I'd guess even less by units as Sony TVs tend to be a bit pricey )

I know posting random store impressions is slightly looked down upon, but I figured I'd translate/post this here anyway. Won't do it again if it's considered annoying/not useful information.

Store 1 (http://azalyn.blog22.fc2.com/blog-entry-1821.html):
- RE6: PS3 = 111 copies Xbox 360 = 9 copies.
- First release in a while to sell over 100 units on release day.
- Winning Eleven: 29 copies, sales are weaker than the last game.
- Summon Knight 3: 18 copies.
- Sol Trigger: 8 copies.
- Entaku no Seito: 5 copies. Strong sell through.
- Only the Xbox 360 version of F1 2012 sold (no number provided).

Store 2 (http://ameblo.jp/omisedayori/entry-11371185652.html):
- RE6 was overwhelmingly popular. Went well beyond the sales numbers of SD Gundam last week.
- Winning Eleven: second highest sales of the day. Sales down compared to previous game, but still doing okay.
- Third: Sol Trigger.
- Fourth: Summon Knight 3.
- Fifth: Entaku no Seito.

Store 3 (http://ameblo.jp/oosakaking/entry-11371024301.html):
- Sales are considerably strong for RE6.
- Winning Eleven second in sales, doesn't seem like sales are as strong as last year's.
- Summon Knight 3: Surprisingly, we sold out.

Store 4 (http://ameblo.jp/yosipooh/entry-11371204692.html):
- RE6 sold out before evening. Reservations for the shipment on Saturday are likely to fill up, as well.
- New PS3 RE6 bundle sold here and there.
- Sol Trigger didn't do too well; not expecting it to sell much.
- Summon Knight 3 sold out, but didn't have many copies to begin with.
- Winning Eleven didn't really sell. In fact, sales seem too low for a Winning Eleven.

Store 5 (http://ameblo.jp/nikuzamurai/entry-11371290520.html):
- Winning Eleven/RE6 were both tied for sales at 20:49. First day sell through rate is quite good.
- PS3 version of F1 2012 and Summon Knight 3 sold out.
- Didn't even sell a single copy of Sol Trigger.

Impressions 6 (chain of stores) (http://ameblo.jp/tadapon/entry-11371512742.html):
- All of our stores have RE6 at top for sales, nearly double what 5 sold on its first day. 70% sell through. Basically, sales numbers are less than FF13-2, but higher than One Piece Musou (for the first day).
- Winning Eleven had a bit of a slow start, not even 40% sell through. 30% lower than last year's first day sales.
- Summon Knight 3 80% sell through.
- Sol Trigger had nearly 40% sell through.
- New PS3 250 GB model sold double what the 500 GB model did.

Store 7 (http://gamesmaya.blog98.fc2.com/blog-entry-2017.html):
- RE6 sales were the overwhelming winner for the day. Had a lot of pre orders prior to its release.

Store 8 (http://ameblo.jp/ore-no-web3rd/entry-11371827029.html):
- We had the highest number of copies for RE6 out of the games going on sale today, yet it still sold through 70% of its shipment. It could even sell out, but for it to sell out with these (numbers)...
- The below comments are all regarding the PS3 version.
- Winning Eleven's sales, pre orders, and sell through were all about the same as last year's.
- Summon Knight 3 near 80% sell through.
- Sol Trigger sell through a little less than 50%. Has an odd sense of stability to it.
- For being about half a chara(cter)-game (this is a visual novel/eroge term), Entaku no Seito's sales are little weak.

http://blog.esuteru.com/archives/6658921.html

Edit: Sinobi has some info on how the Wii U pre orders are looking.

- Sinobi thinks the Monster Hunter pack doesn't even account for 20% of all the Wii U's that'll be shipped in Japan, while the Basic set will account for 50% (this is just a rough number according to Sinobi).
- Web retailers are selling out one after another, but pre orders seem like they can still be found at (real) major retailers.

https://twitter.com/sinobintage/statuses/254426943225749504

Edit 2: Inside Games have some impressions up regarding Wii U pre orders.

- It seems a number of stores, both online and off, have stopped taking pre orders.
- Resellers are already appearing. As of 2 PM, around 150 auctions for the various models were on Yahoo Auctions.

http://www.inside-games.jp/article/2012/10/06/60371.html

Edit 3: Straw Hat Pirates edition PSP bundle announced for upcoming One Piece Romance Dawn

- 12/20 release date (same day as the game), 19,780 yen, comes bundled with One Piece Romance Dawn, naturally.

How likely is it that Square Enix have been delaying any 3DS announcements until Bravely Default is out the door? They have been surprisingly quiet about their plans for the platform.

So, it seems that RE6 is dominating like expected and that Winning Eleven 2013 had a lower first day compared to the last one. And Summon Night 3 is doing well.

The One Piece PSP bundle is a good idea. And it reinforces how bad this Holiday is for Vita XD

I went to my local Bic Camera and Sofmap and both were taking orders for the Basic and Premium Wii U bundles.

The Monhan bundle was listed as being sold out at Sofmap and I didn't see anything at all about it at Bic.

I pre-ordered the Premium Wii U and Mario U at Bic. I was expecting to have to pay for the system upfront (like with my 3ds LL), but surprisingly I didn't have to.
I only have a 2 day limit to pick up the system though.

iOS is where it's at right now, I guess.

Edit: And squeezing all those Theathrhythm players wallets.

Wonder if Sony's TV division is as bad at forecasting as the games division
How bad are gaming forecasts in general? I know that the PSP/Vita forecast wont make it, Nintendo missed the 16 million forecast for 3DS (and that forecast did not concider the big pricedrop), what about Microsoft and other companies?

Yeah Nintendo missed their forecast but not by that much, Sony on the other hand don't have a hope in hell of even doing half of their already revised down forecast
