Media Create Sales: Week 45, 2011 (Nov 07 - Nov 13)

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
However, there's still so many time until the release date. I think they'll change the first shipment. But however, this is not as tragic as MH: in fact, I've always figured that Inazuma could have debuted with 350-400k... 200k as first shipment and a release on Thursday make me think they can actually reship quickly if it'll sell out.

MH, instead, from 700 to 300... nonono, MH3G needs a lot a much bigger initial shipment. And seeing that, as reported by Chris, preorders started again in some stores and Amazon has it back in stock after some time... also, reminding what they did with MHP3rd, which had only one million of shipment in the beginning.

...And the delay of NLP helps, because there's new capacity free for the cartridge production! :D

Why is PS3 doing so bad with 6 titles in the top charts?

Is PS3 feeling the Vita effect losing sales to Vita?

Why is Wii selling half as much with the same number of titles in the list? These machines have basically tapped out their audiences, and are selling software (or not, as the case may be) to their established user bases.

I don't think anything is losing sales to Vita, except perhaps PSP.

I think for PS3 there could be also the release of two new colors today.
...And the Ninokuni PS3, indeed.

I looked at some screens of Ore no Shikabane o Koete Yuke, and it looks really really cool... sprite graphics, turn based gameplay, made by the Linda^3 team as well. Anybody here play this or have familiarity with the series? It's the first I've heard of it, and those look to be some pretty decent sales.

Shouta briefly talked about the remake here.

First 3DS game for March: a Doraemon adventure! XD

Japan’s favorite robotic cat with a bottomless pouch is coming to the Nintendo 3DS. Famitsu revealed a Doraemon game for the system titled Doraemon: Nobita and the Island of Wonders. The Nintendo 3DS game is slated for release on March 1.

Sega handled the Doraemon games for the DS, but aren’t involved with this game. Furyu, makers of Last Bullet and UnchainBlades ReXX, is publishing Doraemon: Nobita and the Island of Wonders. Details about the game have not leaked online yet.

@Burntpork: What shame?

Dat 3DS gon cross 2.5 million next week. A shame about SM3DL, though.

These are good numbers, the install base cannot support continous high sales. More games will sell as the install base rises.

Anyone pointed out that at least one large retailer - Tsutaya? - was talking about having gone through their predicted stock of SM3DL for two weeks in the first week. Is there any chance that there are supply issues, or was it limited to that one report? Just curious as to whether it might have a better-than-expected third week.

half a million units in 2 weeks.

I mean that it's a shame that it likely won't have quite the legs that NSMB or NSMBWii did. That's obviously an impressive number on its own, especially for 3D Mario.

Amazon sold out first week but think they've had stock ever since, maybe some places haven't been restocked as quick?

I don't think anyone really expected nsmb numbers, I'd guess (hope) it'll double the galaxy games

Eh. Not certain. I get the distinct feeling 3DL will rise to heaven in December.

Expecting NSMB numbers for... well, anything, is a risky move. I daresay Nintendo are very happy how it's performing ATM.

Now, since we've seen the second week of 3D Land...

Galaxy 1 & 2 3rd week (this time, Media Create datas, since I have a black hole between Xenoblade's debut week and beginning of 2011 :( )

02. / 01. [WII] Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Nintendo) - 73.480 / 518.530 (-30%)
06./03. [WII] Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo) - 39,500 / 365,000

Probably, it will be again between Galaxy and Galaxy 2, something like 60-63k.
But this Mario has the luck of being on a console ready to explode this Holiday, it can do better due to this.
It could even do one million at the end of the year.

After MH3G, Inazuma Eleven Go initial shipment is rumored to have cut in half too, from 400k to 200k.

Any reason why?

Could be a manufacturing issue, but I figure they would have solved that by now given past history.

It could be... maybe due to Monster Hunter? O_O
However, there's still one month in which they can (and I think will) solve any kind of problem.
Especially due to NLP's delay...one of the few times where a delay could be positive XD

A disappointingly large drop for SM3DL. Here's hoping that it stabilises around this point and continues to sell alongside the hardware.

Peace Walker completely bombed BTW.

I have a feeling Nintendo's own first party is a double edge sword that will scare alot of third parties away, as everyone knows it dominates their consoles. Its tough to be a niche third party right now I would think.

Not really true for the DS in Japan. DS was a software monster. total DS software in japan is about 5x total PSP software. (very gross estimations, would be interesting to get actual numbers as well as first/third party totals)

I say there's a good chance SM3DL becomes the first 3D Mario that sells 2 million copies.

Eventually, Nintendo needs to get a NSMB3D out though.

This post is weird to read for several reasons.

I honestly thought Mario would have longer legs than this. Looks like it will struggle to reach a million.
Meanwhile, surprised at how Uncharted and Battlefield are keeping up. Thought they'd be down in the teens with all the new releases last week.

It has been said before, but with how small the install base is you can't expect the game to keep putting out monstrous numbers. The game will keep selling and selling, as the install base grows. So, hold off on judgement on saying how well it has/will do until the holiday season is over.

This is your conclusion after two weeks of sales? It's already been sold to a fifth of the install base. That's a better ratio than Black/White on DS.

I really think the numbers on it will be hard to predict.

Nobody was waiting for Star Fox (it never sells in Japan), and neither did anybody expect OoT 3D to push any serious/sustainable hardware numbers.

If the Kart Land Tri G combo doesn't do it, we can pretty much write 3DS off completely for a while.

It will do it

SM64 DS eventually eeked its way to a million. I think you're being very hasty with your judgement for Mario, but we'll see.

But there's no need to wait anymore. 3DS hardware sales are very healthy right now.

Fun fact: Type-Zero is now tracking above Crisis Core! It's significantly below Dissidia but that game had the benefit of being released immediately before the holiday season, Type-Zero looks like it'll be a slow burner and could actually surpass it. First non-MonHon for PSP to surpass a million? At the very least, might it beat Mario for the year? This should be interesting to say the least.

I wouldn't say this at all.
Mario 3DS had less impact on hardware sales than the price drop, and we are now in holiday season, as opposed to the middle of summer.
Nintendo needs something new to push 3DS, not the same old same old.

Like new software? Because there's that being lined-up for the holidays. That's no guarantee that the 3DS won't experience a Wii-like slump in the far future, but I don't see how the immediate future of the 3DS doesn't look at least promising.
