Metroid Prime Federation Force rated T for Teen by ESRB: "cries of pain"

I sold my 3DS to MaxCriden a while ago.

He's being humble as always. ☺ He practically gave it to me. With a ton of games. And to return the generosity, little does he knows I've got a custom made Fed Force 2DS coming his way, with the game pre-installed alongside an Other M romhack. 😇

PEGI rate most things 16 - Star Wars Battlefront has the same rating as crysis. No wonder parents don't understand ratings.

Fun age rating fact of the day! In Russia, Sims 4, Story of Seasons and Fire Emblem Fates rated 18+ due to homosexual characters or relationships.

About what I expected. Game still looks terrible however.

There are gay characters in Fates? I honestly thought NOA would've changed that.

Time to type up some negative seller feedback.

Considering the blowback they got from an honest-to-god glitch being fixed in the western release of Tomodachi Life, removing same-sex relationships from Fates would have likely involved some physical violence on Treehouse staff members.

Name calling people who think a lame looking video game looks lame is surely a great way to get your point across.
Cynical assholes? That makes the rest lubricated assholes who'll easily take just about anything.
You're right, my choice of words was poor and I apologize. I'm being an asshole myself, and that's wrong. I still stand by the sentiment that many people seem to enjoy criticizing this game everywhere they can, instead of letting go. It could be better to wait and see if it's any good before bashing it like this, but it's also not fair to expect everyone to be excited for it.

Again, sorry for my harsh words. I don't think people who dislike this are assholes, and I screwed up in my previous post.

I wonder how much better the game would be received it it was called "Metroid Blast: Federation Force" and was presented as a follow-up to Metroid Blast minigame from Nintendo Land. (Which it currently is IMO.)

Speaking of "why does it have Prime":

This. I'm looking forward to Federation Force after playing a load of co-op Metroid Blast with friends. I can understand why they've used the Prime name though, given the control scheme.

This is actually the reason why I had expected it. But it's a good thing they haven't changed that. But good that they haven't changed that! :)

Mass Effect rated 12 in UK - M in America (home the biggest porn industry?) due to non-nude sex scenes.

Countries are weird, Russia seems so racist and homophobic that I can't fathom what North Korea is like!

That's fine. I disagree, but I'm glad we can disagree civilly.

Huh, that's a valid point actually. Metroid Blast control scheme for gunners was closer to Other M one, with some elements from Metroid Prime titles for Wii. (Actually, it was a pretty darn good control scheme...)

Yup, they tend to be weird, mostly because one small difference between systems (maybe even an oversight from one's part) can elevate everything.

As a Russian, I apologize for all assholes who make my country look like a twisted place, or who are actually making it such a place :(

Metroid Prime Pinball's title is perfect. It is a pinball game with the tables based on Metroid Prime.

I'm sure Sakamoto is very excited about this releasing.

I don't think he cares much about Metroid these days, especially with how well Tomodachi Life took off worldwide.

Prime is Tanabe's umbrella, and this project is still Tanabe's.

If Sakamoto were to care it'd be in another Other M (which is never going to happen again anyway) or a 2D Metroid (unless they hired/contracted out a project to an indie we've not heard from or is keeping it under wraps), but neither is likely being made. Moreover, Retro is on their own game/IP adventure so don't expect Prime from them unless they have expanded enough to fuel two massive game projects (and have suddenly rekindled their interest in Metroid, they burned out after Prime 3 and some of the heads behind Prime left the studio).

No worries.

Following up my post I'd kill for a Prime 4 but at this point I'll take anything Nintendo throws for the 3DS - and it's not like Next Level Games would be the ones making such a game anyway, so I just don't understand the disdain for it. Take it for what it is, not what you wish it was.

If this game is nothing like the main Metroid games then maybe it will actually have a chance of selling decent numbers.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
I wonder if Nintendo will even mention this game at E3.

They absolutely will. Maybe not a huge nod since well, no conference and only Zelda playable on the show floor, but we'll definitely get a fresh set of screens and art assets, and probably a trailer upload.

I really do hope the game turns out to be good.

But with the lack of actual coverage seems to suggest the contrary. :/

Also, yes it looks hideous but oh well - what's done is done.

A friendly reminder that the top screen of Nintendo 3DS has the resolution of 400x240 pixels. For comparison, PSP had a 480x272 screen.

It's honestly pointless to look at the 3DS screenshots and videos on a computer monitor, especially if they were stretched and blurred to insanity.
It's not going to look any better in a real device, maybe a little sharper but no different.

I haven't played the game, but, from what I've heard, yes, gays and lesbians.
Nah, Nintendo isn't that progressive. They're one-time bisexuals.

They even have in the Japanese version lorewise a lesbian who they don't allow to hook up with other girls, they make it "just a phase".

ESRB ratings getting pretty meta.

In all honesty, I fully expect this game to be just mediocre. Not a terrible game, but not something to break out and subvert fan expectations in any capacity like Prime did. And certainly not something worthy of the Metroid name.

It's not a good game. It's not a bad game. It's A game.

I still think this game would have had a MUCH different reception if it was coming out for Wii or Wii U rather than 3DS, looking worse than a DSi game. I mean seriously, compare the aesthetics of this game to Metroid Prime: Hunters- it's not even close, the visuals for this are just so oddly terrible.

But in general, I personally think shooters on the 3DS/DS are just hard to play, which is why I could never get into Hunters myself. But imagine if this was on the Wii U. Sure, it still doesn't have the same feel of a Metroid game but it wouldn't look like an N64 era game and wouldn't have those strange chibi-looking mechs. I think the gameplay will end up being solid, just hamstrung by the hardware they chose to put this on.

And for the record, Metroid is not dead. We will get a return-to-form Metroid game sometime in the next 5 years, feel free to bookmark my post if anyone cares to.

(^ not insider knowledge, just educated reasoning)

A mech game set in the Metroid universe is a really cool concept and it sucks that it somehow turned into a game about cartoon astronauts rolling balls around.
