Microsoft Age of Empires Gamescom Presentation (maybe AoE4) [Over]

It's very tempting but $20 is too much. If it were AoE2 I will do it.
This is the first actual Windows Store exclusive with a game that has a lot of possitive bagage and with actual marketing behing, I think MS wants to test how much it can sell. If they actually want the game an active community, they will release it on steam. Which I'm not too sure how it will affect the AoE2 community.

AoE II HD has sold over 4 million copies on Steam.

There is no way Definitive Edition will manage that if locked to the Windows Store.

If MS genuinely want to foster a community, they will release it on Steam.

I don't care about the Steam version I will buy it on the Windows Store my only complain is the lack of sales and userbase for the future of the franchise :(

The stream is definitely too long for its own good. If that doesnt end in AOE IV it's an amazing waste of time.

Dont know why people are acting surprised by it being exclusive to the W10 store. Saw it coming from a mile away. MS really needs to fix that store before next year when they will have Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, probably Halo6 releasing on it.

The fan base and games has moved to steam though.

there are probably more players not on steam than on steam fyi

it's tough to know with the CD version

the steam release was about 9 years later than it should have been. people made msn gaming zone replacements in the interim where a lot of the MP community plays

It's now available for pre-order in the Windows Store - 20 bux

Doesn't say anything about Play Anywhere, though.

The big announcement was that you pay for a digital title before it launches, exclusively on Windows Store? A smack in the face.

I hope one of Microsoft's takeaways from today is that it could have been a 10 minute stream and received 10 times better.

The interviews with ensemble devs and fans at the beginning were cool but they really coulda saved on the rest.

Who needs explanation of basic AoE1 tactics

They are celebrating 20 years of AOE they wanted to have some content. Sure it's not interesting to everyone and keeping the "big thing" for the end is silly, but come on people.
