I think Simmons just wants to call his shot with a prospect so he can call himself "clairvoyant Bill" if it pans out. No one would advocate Monk over Tatum. But Monk did go later than projected and was good value at #10.

So about the Kings trading #10 for #15 and #20. Bill Simmons was really negative on it. And I don't really like the move either, I'd probably have taken Monk if I were the Kings.

Regardless, there is maybe a little bit of sense with the move. The Kings need as many darts as they can get to try and hit a bullseye. And the Giles pick is exactly that. If he can stay healthy, he could be a game changer.

But what I don't get is drafting Justin Jackson at #15. He probably has a high floor, should be an okay rotation player at worst, but his ceiling seems pretty low. Why not take a project like Justin Patton there? He may be boom or bust, but booms are what the Kings need, they can fill in rotation players later.

I like the draft. Bias as fuck but our team has a million holes right now so we need to see who pans out. Monk would have been nice but I have no idea how he would fit with Buddy. Our roster consists of 7 players drafted in the first round these last two years. Its gonna be interesting year.

You have a chance to make a Monk and Fox backcourt and you don't have to reach for either guy, just do it. The draft is a crap shoot, so take a shot. They love being teammates and could be an awesome duo for many years.
