I mean I get the reasoning behind this, but maybe just make the service age-restricted or something? Seems ridiculous to remove the entire service if Miiverse isn't coming to the 3DS anytime soon. Was really fun to dick around during off-times with friends, and unlike Miiverse I was under the impression the messages wouldn't be monitored so we could say/draw whatever. Shit sucks.

I'm talking about Swapnote specifically though, not just a general parental lock system wide. Also doesn't change the fact instead of making it age restrictive they just flat out took down the service?

Am I missing something I wrote in my original post? I'm aware this was due to minors and Nintendo wants people to be more aware of parental controls, I just think it's annoying older people get screwed over by this decision too and feel locking under 18's out of Swapnote would've been a better quickfix than removing the app all out.

I am *seriously* pissed right now. My local Streetpass group used Swapnote as a primary means of communicating meets for the core group. But I suppose I should've seen this coming since all I ever heard about with Pictochat was people sending dicks to each other.

I absolutely understand keeping adult things out of the hands of minors, but Nintendo needs a way for me to indicate that I am an adult, I do not need to be treated like a child by their services. Then Nintendo should've updated Swapnote so you didn't have the ability to send/recieve Swapnote's via streetpass/walking past someone?

I'm assuming/hoping Nintendo's eventually going to re-release this/Flip-Note but with a lot of features either cut or heavily locked down, but most other companies would've been able to just update these issues away without completely shutting down the system's only real communication service while they do so.

Nikki sent a note even just the other day about file transfer and I got one more new stationary last week, so I guess whatever Nintendo found out, it happened very recently for them to press the panic button

I guess the problem is, various countries might be on your butt about law breaking, if it is minors showing their naughty bits to older people. Miiverse is generally moderated 24/7 so that sort of thing can't happen. But it's just...it generally sucks, and it's sad that people abused the service in such an awful way.
