When I was 12 playing this at the store I thought it was cool AFWhat's the consensus on Sengoku? I hear middling things but I am a fan of beat em' ups. Is there anything redeeming about the game?
No idea how it is 20 years later though

Oh well, that's 2 in a row I'll be skipping. I'll be busy with ARMS anyway.Looks like Fatal Fury 2 is next week's game according to the Australian eShop.
Was KOF 2000 on the NeoGeo? I always wanted to play that one but i never had the chance.
Is there a glitch with Galaxy Fight or is this game really THAT difficult?
I have it set on Level 1 difficulty (the lowest difficulty level) and I'm still getting my ass kicked pretty hard. And I'm someone who can play most fighting games on Switch without any problem (King of Fighters 98, Garou Mark of the Wolves, Waku Waku 7).

That's the game I want the most right now. Hopefully it comes soonAny word on a Baseball stars coming to Switch? That would be sweet.
It's one of the hardest fighting games out there. Is there a glitch with Galaxy Fight or is this game really THAT difficult?

It depends on the game.Do SNK fighters tend to actually be more fun on higher difficulty levels? Or do they just cheat?

Power Instinct 2 is far worse than both, and yes, I 1CC Art of Fighting 2 as well.Galaxy Warriors is extremly difficult.
The only game which rivals it's insane difficulty level is Art of Fighting 2.
Maybe it's just me but I find it even harder than Galaxy Warriors.
TBH, Sengoku 1 and 2 do not hold up well against great beat em ups, though Sengoku 1 more so. Sengoku 2 was an improvement, but not amazing or anything. Sengoku 3's combat engine with lots of depth, combos and varied characters make it a decent time for repeat playthroughs, it's combat engine manages to rival Alien vs Predator.IMO Sengoku 1+2 are worth the price. if only for their unique settings, weird atmosphere and bizzare gameplay.
I also think that Sengoku 3 is exrtemly overrated and is mostly judged by it's looks (it does look beautiul). in fact, Sengoku 3 is one of the most boring beat'em ups I have ever played in my life.
and I have finished "Crest of Wolf" (aka "Riot Zone" in the west) several times
but maybe that's just me..

Any recommendations? I'm not really picky, as I never experienced anything from SNK's catalog.
To be fair, it is closer to Alien vs Predator than most beat em ups(definitely for 2D), though yeah I over exaggerate a bit when I said it rivals it, my bad, though you can still do lots of juggles and combos if you can get it going, like in these videos. It has hardly and combo depth outside of a few basic juggles. Replayability is virtually non existent as the level design and enemy types are so repetitive and simply boring, even compared to the first two games. And saying its combat engine rivals Alien vs Predator, which has one of if not the best in the genre, is a joke.

Yes, Sengoku 2 is definitely an improvement over the 1st one.(though unlike what is claimed by HG101's rather terrible article, Sengoku 2 is a massive improvement and one game I'd wholearthly recomend should it come to the Switch)

Is there any word on upcoming NeoGeo games? I really want to play KoF 2000 again, and I'm not sure if I should just get the PS2 port on PS4.
For those with a Switch and any of these fighting games - is the "d-pad" 100% unusable? I played Mario Kart 8 on a friend's Switch recently and I managed to play with the directional buttons (Mario Kart will always be better with a d-pad IMO), but I'm fearing that simply wouldn't be possible with a fighting game, lol.
I think Sengoku 2 is by far the best game in the series, a big improvement over the original and retains the completely weird aesthetic. One of my favorite beat em ups on the system, actually. I'd expect it will come to Switch too, since it's already out as an ACA Neo Geo release on the Xbox One and PS4.
I absolutely NEED Hamster to bring over
Neo Drift Out... c'mon, this gem never even had a home release!
The Pokken controller is really good. The d-pad is much better than the one on the Switch Pro controller.
The only thing is that because the Pokken triggers are L / R, you'll probably need to swap the Insert Coin and Start and the hotkey buttons around.
It's not just you. I think Sengoku 3 does get overrated due to looks, rarity, and obscurity as a pretty late Neo release.
I kinda wish I hadn't sold my day 1 AES cart years ago... it's worth a fortune today. But man, the game just bores me. The combo system is actually pretty fun for a bit, but the level design is just incredibly bland and keeps throwing way too many mundane enemies at you. It feels overly padded and repetitive, which is an unforgivable sin for an arcade experience.

I assume you mean the janky four separate buttons on the left joy-con? For me, it's pretty much unusable for most games I've played.
Seriously, the "4 separate buttons" knock-off was terrible when Sony did it, and is still terrible now.
The Pro controller is the only way to play.
The Sony Dpad is still an actual Dpad that isn't separate buttons. It only looks that way.
Doesn't work. IIRC they aren't capable of sending a signal over a wired connection, the USB port is just for charging. You lot keep going on about the Pokken controller being compatible with Switch (while docked and wired). Would a Wii U Pro Controller also work?
You mean underneath the plastic where the player can't touch?
Yes. It's still not four seperate buttons
It works better than four actual buttons.
FF2 is up on the eshop.
It's 4 separate places on the controller for the player to touch, which are not connected at any place that the player is able to touch.
Better?
Far, far worse than a proper D-pad, though.
