New Fallout 3 pics

The Ghoul in the first shot looks really generic like there are few of them in the world or it's the equivalent of a rat enemy now.

I don't think there's anything remotely poor about the visuals. They're nailing the style of Fallout and it looks at the very least to be as technically sound as Oblivion was.

I believe they said as much actually...I think there are three types of those zombies.

EDIT: perhaps in the most recent EGM? I can't remember where...

Are you kidding? Look at the dog, man! The Dog!

Molyneux would be proud

His name is Dogmeat. Get it right.

Clearly, you've never played Fallout, good sir. May I suggest you go buy a copy and do so? :D

here is why the dog and man walking pic is nice

eh i dunno from his avatar i assumed it was a joke :D

it would be nice of bethesda to do a "History" dvd with the game or as an extra, and have Ron Perlman narrate a synopsis of the first 2 games events (with an assumed 'right' ending), since id say good portion of people playing fallout 3 havent played the first 2.

It's Fallout...always aim for the groin.

The groin may be the most enjoyable, but when it comes down to business nothing says I love you like a sniper shot straight through the eyes, taking the head with it.

Except when fighting deathclaws, if you don't shoot off their legs and slow them down, you're dead.

(In response to "Did I miss something, the graphics are awful!")

(Yeh but so what, this is fallout.

Why do people think it's OK to have poor graphics on franchises? People have the same expectancies for the GTA series, and it's a BS double standard.

No game should get special treatment because of past titles. They should all have to live up to the same standard as new titles.

If the graphics really matter that much to you, buy the PC version. You'll be able to mod it and make it look (at least) 4x better than the console versions.

Sadly killed the poor animal on my first playthrough, before I knew he was a companion :D

YOU FOOL! *beats you up like you were one of the brats who tried to steal stuff from me in Fallout 2* :lol

Any way...I still like the looks of this. Since the beginning, I knew that this game was NOT going to be "Van Buren" or whatever other type of thing that would constitute a "proper" Fallout 3. But to me, it could end up being a thing like old-school CV to SOTN, or old-school Mario to Mario 64/Galaxy. If done correctly, it could still be an awesome game that does the franchise proud, but just does it in a different way. And if it succeeds in that much, I'll be pleased as punch...

...or at least, that's what I'll most definitely be saying, once the MOD community takes such liberties as making it so you can beat up/kill kids, become a porn star/sex deviant and other things that I'm more than likely willing to bet good money on that Bethy probably will NOT put into the final version of their game. :lol

How much does a good PC cost these days? :lol

Not worth it. I'll take the "vastly inferior" 360 version for a grand less.

well linear games look better than open world stuff does usually.

Even oblivion looks better when u tart it up with pc mods to fix low res assests (textures, Normal Maps, Water Shaders) here and there. Which is why im getting the pc version of Fallout 3.

what the
the graphics don't look good at all. In fact, I'd go as far as saying it looks ugly. I'm sure the game will turn out fine, but I don't understand why everyone's so excited about these pictures. Then again, I've never played a Fallout game.

thats why people have excitement

but then we break them into two groups

-Previous Fans wary of how Bethesda can carry what Black Isle created.
-Those who loved oblivion and are excited about this new "Fallout" thing.

note: I just listed the 2 that WANT the game, there is a third group that hates it all.

I am a fan of the both Fallout 1 and 2. Yet, these pics of Fallout 3 do nothing for me. My expectations are near or at the bottom, which is where my expectations will remain until there is a demo I can play through.

Graphical brilliance it may be, and I am thankful for that much at this point, I feel there is a laundry list of *stuff* that is not only key to the make-up of the Fallout universe, but said *stuff* is equally key and important to the enjoyment of a Fallout game.

With all that said, you can bet your ass when/if a demo is released, I'll be right there. ;)

There´s also the group that doesn´t hate anything, but just look at those pics and think there´s nothing great about them.

For everyone who says the graphics suck....the PC version is going to have a crapload of mods with 4x texture enhancers, gaussian blur and other stuff that will make it look like Crysis. Anyway, this looks AWESOME.

Chairman Yang

if he talks about books, you better damn well listen
Those graphics look damn good to me, and miles above Oblivion. Technologically, I have no idea how advanced they are, but taken as a whole, I'm very impressed.

Actually, now that I think about it, these screens have pushed Fallout 3 towards being my most anticipated game of the year, by a big margin (especially now that Dragon Age is a 2009 release). I can understand the negativity by Fallout 1/2 fans, but I'm pretty confident that they'll be blown away in the end.

Fair enough. But I certainly prefer the "after" myself.

And that's only looking at one aspect of dozens of types of things you can improve. The atmospheric improvements that mods will deliver for Fallout 3 should be as incredible as the ones we saw in Oblivion.

Fallout isn't about looking pretty though. Which is why lots of people are worried, they need to get a really amazing open ended game in there, full of everything that makes Fallout 1 & 2 so great.

If they do this game right, it WILL be GOTY. The fallout series makes Bioshock look like child's play.

It looks like Fallout done by the Bethesda art team- which means your gonna see mediocre attempts at almost everything (artwise). Bethesda goes over board with one or two colors when trying to achieve a certain look and they totally fuck up textures and NPC faces.

Technically the game will be very captivating but it will be unfortunate that everything will be awash in green/brown far beyond what is neccessary to achieve the post apocalyptic look they are trying to create. I'm still suffering from "brown flashbacks" induced by Morrowind.

Note- I put 120 hours into Morrowind and 60+ into Oblivion. I will probably buy this game for the gameplay despite the usually shit art that Bethesda puts out. Normally I'm not this harsh but I'm seriously friggin offended by some of the things they try to pass off as acceptable (in terms of art assests) that other major studios would scoff at. I also don't believe their modelers could find work (in a senior position) at any other major studio.

PPL still think that good PCs cost a lot :lol :lol

i'll keep my opinion to my self on the graphics, but I sure am looking forward to another Fallout, the atmosphere in the first 2 sucked you right in, and the music was fantastic.

I doubt you will even need a good PC for this considering it is a crossplatform title. For Oblivion you did at the time. But todays cheap PCs can run that better than the consoles easily.

Graphics looks OK but it's not my concern. As long as this game is open ended and they do the atmosphere right
and keep that porn star title
, this game is still GOTY hands down.
