New Lays Chips Flavors appearing in stores: Chicken & Waffles, Sriracha, Garlic Bread

Towards the end of last year, Frito-Lay invited snackers across the country to suggest new Lay's potato chip flavors they would like to see the company produce.

The "judging phase" of the "Do Us a Flavor" promotion is supposedly still underway, but several photos that began circulating online yesterday suggest the contest is over — and America won.

According to the photos, the three flavors picked to join the Lay's potato chip line are Cheesy Garlic Bread, Chicken & Waffles, and the long-sought-after Sriracha.

We'll have to wait five more days to find out if this is all just an impossibly cruel hoax, but assuming it isn't, the hardest task still lays ahead: Deciding which of the three flavors gets to stick around for good.

Sriracha seems the easiest one to vote out. I want to try the other two, chicken & waffles sounds especially interesting.

Ugh, I hate that this is another "vote to keep the one you like" deal.

As a native waffle specialist (Belgian) , I can tell you that waffels are not eaten with chicken on the side.

I wonder what waffle and strawberry, waffle and vanilla or waffle and whipped cream flavored chips would taste like.

If Ricky were a real person he'd love Chicken and Waffles flavor I bet. Also the 3 flavors don't sound too appealing to me. Sriracha seems the best of the 3, followed by Cheesy Garlic Bread. And really, who wants to eat chicken and waffle flavored chips?

Really? I think that has the most promise. I am intrigued by it as the sauce itself is amazing and could be a good alternative spicy chip.

But I feel like I would need to eat real chicken and waffles first before trying the chip form. I'm shocked I have never had chicken and waffles.

And good places for it in Orlando that anyone would know about? Should have had it in New Orleans when I had the chance.

Drive up to Jacksonville and go to the Metro Diner near San Marco. Best chicken and waffles ever. They mix the hot sauce with the syrup, and it is so freaking good.

God, now I have an urge to have chicken and waffles for dinner...

For those that have never tried, I think dipping the chicken in the hot syrup is like the best thing ever. Coupled with the butter waffle and eating it together? Amazing.

Well, I work for Frito lay and we definitely don't sell 50 cent bags anymore in my region and the bag material looks different than what they use now. Could still be true though I suppose, but that would also mean these flavors are getting their own bag design as well that considerably clash with the current designs. The only oddball lays bag is the deli cut style currently, all other flavors have the same design style

Edit: however, they are just now starting to produce bags with an April exp date, so that is one consistency. If I could see the actual date I could know with more certainty, because lays chips only expire every other Tuesday

Edit 2: I should probably add that I'm just humoring the articles fear that it could be a hoax. I doubt somebody would actually bother to fake this :p

My submission was Potatoes O'Brien. Potato chips with ginger, shredded carrot bits, and Irish mint. Because I found out about it while watching Conan.

Now I will never know how awful that combination would taste.
