I wonder if Konami will at least compile those scenes, and the interstitual scenes they've added (to replace the gameplay), and make it into a Snake Eater movie.

The only reason they wouldn't do that is to fuck over the fans.

Or because they don't want to take away the main reason for choosing this pachislot machine over another, the cutscenes aren't complete enough to form a whole movie, and they have no interest in maintaining a video game portfolio and won't budget for it.

fuck i wish the MGS V Ocelot had looked more like that...

sutherland as big boss, ok.. whatever, he nailed mission 43. but baker as ocelot? wtf was the point of that.

mgs3 ocelot is single most goat mgs 'antagonist' ... like the balthier of antagonists.

p.s. as someone that likes casinos, ranks snake eater as top three game, but has never played pachinko... holy heck do i want to play this lol. the movies but also those little cartoon animations look awesome.

Why reach out for an answer you already know? "This is Pachinko." That's all Konami will say if they even bothered to reply. Even if an MGS3 remake was happening behind the scenes, Konami wouldn't say so.

I'm actually surprised how many people want this as a full fledge remake. I thought the whole #FuckKonami business involved people boycotting them and refusing any Metal Gear not made by Kojima? I always figured if Konami released a new MGS it would receive nothing but hate. I guess a faithful remake is "different" because it is largely a KojiPro production, just prettied up?

I love Kojima as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't mind a fresh take on Metal Gear, Kojima's heart just wasn't in the franchise anymore and you could tell, he had been trying to get out of churning out Metal Gear sequels as far back as MGS3.

I'll support any entry of the franchise regardless of director.

I'm against supporting Konami. But if they came out with a remake that was full on current gen Fox Engine....

My feelings as well. Rising proved to me how great a different take on the series can be. I'm actually with Konami... IF they actually continue to make games and try to have them be good. I was never really against Konami over the whole Kojima incident cause personally I consider it just as much Kojima's fault. There are definitely troubling aspects of how things went down, such as the Game Awards fiasco which seems deplorable, but I choose to remain neutral still cause we do not know the legal matters surrounding the entire event. HOWEVER I definitely haven't been happy with Konami in quite a number of years due to some of their efforts. Rather it be the disastrous Silent Hill HD Collection because they refused to allow the developer behind the collection to reverse-engineer the retail release and instead only allowing them to use unfinished builds, to their all around hesitance to keep making video games as of late.

I actually think Pachinko is fine, it is a legitimate business strategy and makes the company money... but they need to make video games alongside Pachinko.

Yeah I think most people just haven't given it much though, most fans just blindly defend Kojima without even entertaining the thought that he could have been the problem to begin with.

I'll check out anything he works on from here on out, but I don't think he is essential to Metal Gear as a whole. And as you could probably tell from my avatar, I agree with how you feel about Rising, the game in many ways was actually more in line with the franchise than 4, 5 or Peace Walker, the main example being the boss unit the Winds of Destruction, which felt like a return to the classic archetypes of FOXHOUND, Dead Cell or the Cobra unit.

How is he the problem? Kojima didn't want to make Metal Gear anymore. He was on record with that several times. He'd tried to give other staff chances to make a Metal Gear so that he could go and do something else. He even wrote the treatment for Metal Gear Solid 5 which would've starred The Boss and handed it over to his younger staff. That would've actually given them some freedom as they could explore an era before MG really began. But they refused to do it because they thought it was too much pressure. Then they were put on Rising and that eventually had to be given to another studio because they weren't making progress. And eventually Kojima had to once again work on a series that he was finished with.

So how's that his fault? Why is he the blame when he tried to hand the series off to others and they were either scared of it or couldn't pull it off. People try to paint him as some sort of egomaniac, but he was completely fine with others working on the series. He wanted Platinum back to work on more games in the series. And he wanted off of it entirely.

A lot has to do with its treatment of employees during their restructuring period and development of MGSV. It's inexcusable, don't care what sorta creative problem Kojima could have ran into (going over budget, taking too long etc.). Withholding him from Game Awards, and trying to take his name away from boxart all seemed very petty as well. Then you add fuel to the fire by sitting on beloved franchises that will either be dead or resurrected to Pachinko machines.

Hard to feel bad for them.

A report from Nikkei in August highlighted low morale at Konami, a result of company officials apparently turning the workplace into an Orwellian nightmare as far as the way it treats its employees. Nikkei reported that Konami was assigning game developers to menial jobs if the company no longer saw those people as useful; that cameras had been installed to monitor employee movements; and that supervisors were closely tracking lunch breaks and publicly shaming employees who were out of the office for too long.

Metal Gear Franchise at 49m Lifetime sales.

And we had to find out about through Pachinko

In the Pachislot & Pachinko Machines business we intend to release new pachislot machines, SEVEN'SBEAT, in collaboration with beatmania, a music genre game from the Konami Group, and METAL GEAR SOLID SNAKE EATER which was derived from the ultra large-scale videogame title METAL GEAR series (surpassed 49.2 million copies sold worldwide as of end of March 2016). This is the first model loaded on the next-generation cabinet BIGBOSS, featuring the industry’s first full-HD surface 32-inch LCD, and equipped with a 124 GB large-capacity ROM for the LCD.Although it is expected that the pachislot and pachinko machine market may continue to face challenging conditions due to a decrease in the number of customers and strengthening of the self-restrictions promulgated by pachislot and pachinko machine manufacturers’ unions and other factors, we intend to stabilize profitability in the business to boost our market presence by working integrally with production, manufacture and sales.

Also, they wanna get in on VR and e-sports but it's mostly pachinko
