Special Operation 2 will include a new strong theme, PVE experiences, Ghost War updates, as well as community-requested features. Let’s dive into more details:

Ghost Mode: Ghost mode is designed for the best of the best Ghosts out there. In this mode, you’ll be able to create a new character in order to take down the Santa Blanca under the most thrilling conditions.

- With only one primary weapon by your side, you’ll need to choose carefully. You will only be able to change your loadout at either an ammo box, or by looting fallen enemies.
- You will also need to plan out your reloads, as any remaining ammo in your magazine will be lost.
- Be extremely careful with your shots, Ghosts, or you could bring down your co-op team with friendly fire.
- And most importantly, with Ghost Mode, death is permanent. So stay frosty.

Ghost Mode will be available for all difficulty settings, including Tier 1 Mode. And of course this challenge doesn’t come without rewards: more to come on that in our patchnotes. So put your skills to the test and reap the benefits that will come with success!

This free mode will be available for all players, with a week-early access for Year 2 Pass holders starting on July 24th, 2018.

True Solo: Those who are truly looking for a lone wolf experience can now toggle off their AI teammates in both our Campaign and Ghost Mode. Up for the challenge?

New PVP Maps: We have two new maps coming to Ghost War, including a highly community- requested snow map.

Victory Screen: The taste of victory will be made even sweeter with the return of the Victory Screen at the end of Ghost War matches. The winning team will now get to show off their customization and victory poses after a well-earned win.

Observer Mode: Take your Ghost War experience to the next level with our brand new Observer Mode. Simply go into Custom Matches to both watch and showcase your Ghost War games. Game on!

Ghost War Challenges: New daily challenges will now be available in Ghost War, rewarding players with Prestige credits for their extra hard work.

Prestige Economy: You shared your feedback, and we heard you! Special Operation 2 will bring an overhaul of our Prestige economy. You will now be able to earn Prestige Credits not only in Ghost War, but also in the Campaign too (including Ghost Mode). A new tab in the Store will be added to allow you to spend your Prestige Credits not only on Ghost War Classes, but on Prestige Packs too, which include customization items.

Year 2 Pass Updates: Not only do Year 2 Pass owners gain week-early access to all Ghost War Classes, they will now also enjoy a week-early access to Ghost Mode, starting on July 24th. The Year 2 Pass also includes the Splinter Cell Gear Pack and 8 Battle Crates. You can purchase a Year 2 Pass here.

New Customization Items: More than 100 new exclusive items have been added to our Battle Crates, including new Emotes, Voice Lines, customizable weapons, vehicles, and more!

Huh. The True Solo and Ghost mode sound really interesting. Is the game worth picking up if you prefer solo play?
Yes.

I played coop on ps4 and solo on pc and honestly i prefer to play solo. Playing with friends is fun and all but too chaotic and frustrating when people don't have the same mindset as you.
I had fun playing solo. But be aware that this is a far cry-ish take on ghost recon.

Ghost mode sounds great except for permadeath.

True Solo ..... wish this had been there from the start. Absolutely hate the A.I. controlled companions in this game. From their dialogue to their path finding..... I will happily test this new mode out.

Now this is awesome.

Wildlands is an amazing game. The next-gen version will be bonkers.

$20 on Xbox live right now too. I have it on PS4 Pro with the season pass already, kind of tempted to double dip. It does actually run pretty good on the Pro and doesn't make the fan turn into a Harrier taking off.

permadeath huh... i almost always opt for it but it'll be interesting to see how that works in GRW haha... its AI reinforcement system can be pretty damn cheap. I think it would still be okay but I think if you ever get an alert you just genuinely bail the F out of there and take no chances.

The rest is cool.... I already kinda play that way haha. I only change loadouts at Rebel camps.

only thing I dislike is having to start all over... I like keeping all my stats o.0 too bad we can't just turn it on. I don't mind special rewards for only new Ghost files but would be nice for it to be a toggle, too. Maybe it still is... The wording sounds like it's for new characters though.

Fantastic update, really looking forward to playing Ghost mode solo without AI. Everyone who's been on the fence should give it a try now that it's on sale. It's really fun to just grab a heli, explore the map and tackle enemy outposts as you seem fit.

Hello Ghosts,

We have a new update to share regarding Special Operation 2.

We have just released a Hotfix on the PC version of the game, which is now accessible to download through Uplay and Steam.

This update addresses the following issues:

  • Added a short barrel on the HK416 and fixed the Iron Sight issue
  • Fixed an issue where the save slot was deleted after quitting to main menu if the player fails a mission while being downed in Ghost Mode
  • Adjusted Valkyrie’s image when she is calling the Ghost for the Archangel’s mission brief to match the appearance she has in-game
  • Fixed an issue in Observer Mode where the observer has the same End of Round or End of Match messages as the player they were spectating while in "Centered Camera" ("Victory/Defeat" and "Round Lost/Won”)
  • When in Ghost Mode, players now earn 50% more XP & resources

This Hotfix will also be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox on August 6th.

We also have two workarounds to communicate:

- For players who can no longer see their Game Saves when using Uplay on PC:
  1. Go to the Setting tab in Uplay, under the General category
  2. Uncheck “Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games”
  3. Launch the game to check that your saves are back
  4. If they are, exit the game, go check “Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games” again
  5. Start the game again, your saves should be back as normal.

- For players who are not able to continue their campaign and are met with a “New Campaign” option instead:
  1. Make a back-up copy of your Save folder. You can find your default Save folder here:
    • Uplay: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<account_id> \1771
    • Steam: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\<account_id> \3559
  2. Go to the Setting tab in Uplay, under the General category
  3. Uncheck “Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games”
  4. Launch the game to check that the “New Campaign” option is not displayed anymore
  5. Exit the game, go check “Enable cloud save synchronization for supported games” again
  6. Start the game again, everything should be back as normal.
  7. If this does not solve the issue, please try these additional steps:
    • Go to the Save folder and delete “1.save”
    • Rename “2.save” to “1.save”

If these workarounds do not resolve the issues, please contact our Customer Service directly.

We will have more information to share in the upcoming days as we continue to monitor the situation; stay tuned for more details on www.ghostrecon.com

In the meantime, we have added a SWAT Icons pack for free that all players can download, in the Featured Content section of our Store. Do not forget to download it!

We thank you for your patience and will be in touch soon, Ghosts.

I wasn't happy when I saw it was a 14gb download. I also notice a new bug where the d pad menu disapear so you can't see when your switching between grenades, mines and C4.

If only my penis was as big as my GamerScore!
I keep looking at this game wanting to give it a shot, but then I go on the store and see a million different versions and a ton of paid DLC packs and get totally turned off.

Funny. I was just listening to the Wildlands soundtrack and this thread pops up.

I'm interested in the ghost mode! Shall check it out.

Also, if you purchase the "Year 2" soundtrack do you get all of the year 1 content?

Ubisoft's greed never ends but if you want to buy it just get the basic version. Most of the dlc is just crappy cosmetics so you not going to be missing anyting

You and me both. I won't be able to convince my friends to play this game, so I'd have to play solo or first look for other people that want to play this game. Not so much worried about the DLC, I'd just skip all that crap.

Base version of the game should be enough for most people, the game is huge. You can easily play by yourself since the AI companions, while obviously not the best, make it fairly easy since they can spot snipe anything and revive you if you get downed. Or now with the new mode just play solo.

The worst crime in this game is the Beret is paid content.

Excellent game and now I’ve finished Dragon Quest, I can jump back into it.

I wish they’d mend the HDR for PS4 though. It’s impossible to see anything on screen at night with HDR turned on...the screen’s almost black, even with brightness and gamma turned to max.

Did they ever patch where vehicles spawn? Sometimes that would spawn in top of me and kill me.

Rebel Vehicle Drop-Off
  • Players report having vehicles dropped on them or in unreachable areas.
  • STATUS: The team is currently investigating possible solutions to improve this system.
  • DEV NOTE: Adjusting this system would require a comprehensive overhaul of several other key systems that impact the vehicle drop feature. We understand your dissatisfaction with this issue and your feedback is known throughout the Development Team. We are still investigating possible adjustments that could be made to reduce frustration with the Rebel Drop-off system.

Ghost Mode sounds fun, but the permadeath should be a separate option. Otherwise, it's always good news getting more content. This game was my surprise of the year last year.

I though about playing more in True Solo mode, but honestly the game wasn't designed to be played like that and I doubt Ubisoft made big changes to the mechanics for lone wolves.

I like playing it like to be honest. Sure it's a bit weird, and it's not really made for it, but it's fun (for me at least).

Nice. I might buy this on sale next year.

You can turn off the AI team and play all alone if you want...

Interesting. I may have to pick this up during a sale. Is there a "Complete" bundle available for console users? Does the Xbox One version have an x-enhanced release?

Yes to both. Personally, I love it. It's an excellent open world military 3rd person shooter. Awesome co-op. And I love playing in solo mode. It's X1X enhanced and Pro Enhanced. I have it on both.

That is interesting. From what I remember at launch, I heard nothing but it being a very generic open world title that felt very little like Ghost Recon. Has that changed with the updates?

You can, but man, I love playing with the ai. Setting up sync shots and taking out a base is so damn satisfying.

You were talking to the wrong people I think. The game was great since launch and they have supported it very well. I would not call it generic at all, it has a very distinct squad-based play. I highly recommend it, but obviously your mileage may vary.

No. If you want some real GR, check out the Heroes Unleashed mod for the only proper tactical shooter in that series.

Hm, I probably would have engaged more with the multiplayer if I knew they were going to continue to make so many improvements and content updates. At this point I don't think I can get back into it without at least another DLC campaign, but for anyone who hasn't tried it, then you're in for one of the most amazing environmental sandboxes of this generation.
