Hi. Can anyone tell me what this icon (red crossed swords) means? I can't figure it out.

The crossed swords icon is always something PVP related. I've yet to play even a single match of PVP, but I'm still pretty sure that is the use limit of said item in PVP. Whether it is per round, or per match, I've got no clue.

Thank you. It was driving me nuts.

Oh.

I'm like 50% done with no DLC stuff then. Then I can DLC on every difficulty then update missions :D

I kinda hope we don't get another NG+ for next DLC, if only because 3 times is a bunch.

I'm pretty sure we will other wise it would not make any sense to add higher level gear nor would it make sens to change the character level cap and I think it will happen.

Starting to get a good at this game again. Level 219, Way of the Demon, kicking ass with sword and spear, armed with amarita-farming Spirits and Kodama Bowl. :D Levels just keep on coming.

This game... It's something.

Finally got around to beating the game (base). What's the level I should be for the DLC? I'm under 110.

And what the hell was with that music in the credits?

Okay, I finally returned to the game after a long hiatus. Zelda coming out made me put the game in the freezer for a long while, but it's great to be back. In the second region now, at the ship/coast stage.

Question: I have a katana now that I have maxed at 900 familiarity, but can you 'upgrade' that meter to the full level? Is that done by soul matching the weapon to a higher level, or is there no way to increase this? I don't know if I should even bother with the level increase when I keep finding better weapons anyway. I've read that this is best reserved for NG+.

Just got to the first boss and it's kicking my ass. Not sure I'm cut out for this. Just getting to it was pretty stressful. Had to avoid a bunch of yokai. Think I'll take a break for tonight and try again tomorrow.

How do I even get the smithing text for Tachibana's gear? I can craft his weapon (if I had a Nue claw... WTF) but not his bow or armour. Do I have to farm the shit out of him?

About to have a Nioh first playthrough session tomorrow... Anything i should know before I start? Have played dark souls 2 before, but not any other souls-like game...

Repeating what I always say when this question gets asked:

If you didn't play any of the demos, expect to die a lot at the start, especially if you show your back to enemies. A lot of people would try the demos, get one shot by an enemy (getting hit in the back) and quit forever without giving the game a chance.

Stick with it and learn the mechanics.

I should clarify, getting hit from behind does a lot more damage, especially at the start of the game when you have no armor and no stats. And I don't mean like a set backstab animation either; you can get hit in the back repeatedly and just die in one combo (if it even takes that many hits) if you leave your back open.

You can't dodge out of enemy attacks easily like in Souls. Most of the time if you are about to get hit them it is a better idea to block in Nioh. Also pay attention to your Ki and use Ki pulse. Once you l arm the mechanics the combat is very fun.

Any advice for 'Two in the Shadows' on way of the demon? I'm getting slaughtered. Who should I go after first?

Use guardian talismans with any guardian that has knock down ability. The best for this is Daiba-Washi or blue dragon, but you can also use Atlas Bear or any other you like. As long as it has knock down ability you good to go. Pop the talisman, it will knock them down, use finishing blow on both if you have time. Do it till they dead lol

That's just easy cheese way to do it if you can't beat them in regular fight.

What are some good places in wotd to farm +15 equipment? I'm starting to hit a wall and I want to see if maxing my equipment helps a little.

Marobashi is hands down the best place to farm gear.

I took a small break from the game ( I have done everything there was to do) to enjoy The Surge for a bit, but game is so good, that I may take longer break to enjoy it more. Combat is up there with Nioh and Bloodborne.

Seconding the advice about blocking. It's very good in this game, especially to get out of combos. You will often feel like you are getting full health combo'd without an opportunity for escape if you just try to spam dodge. Try holding block and dodge after you block the next attack.

Don't be a afraid to experiment with skills and magic. The game gives you tons of skill points and ample opportunity to respec whenever you want.

No such a thing lol I'm sorry that the guardian you share the name with, is one of the shittiest in the game ;)

Bbbbbut

Fun fact, I changed my name as an early teen to this because foxes are cool. Seeing the mythology in this game us a cherry

Besides, Suzaku is a slut. Too many people use it.

I'm afraid of what TK will do to this game.
Embrace it, bro.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

Your better off trying to create an OP build. Search around there are a lot of them.
I actually am, I just wanted to see if I could clear Wotd with this build, which I've been using for a long time now. Principle of the thing and all that, you know? Clear wotd and then go pedal to the metal with crazy op builds. Worse comes to worst I'll shift, tough.

Which reminds me, hey H3rTz DoNuT, did you ever post the build you were using in those gifs to one shot Yoshitsugu? Was kinda interested in seeing how you achieved that.

I remember reading somewhere to definitely get both sloth and carnage. Used both in combo for the first time... pretty damn useful. Already cleaned up region 2, now in 3. I make sure to complete all the sub missions before going off into the next region. I love this game. I hope it's not too much of a grind to plat because this is one of those games where I'd definitely want to get it.

WotD difficulty is tuned for OP builds, or extreme mastery of every enemies moves and rarely getting hit.

To some extent. I feel like the HP of enemies is just a bit more and that's because my weapons are unupgraded. In terms of character life, it's the same because I was always A agility and bare minimum body

I'll be playing more Saturday onwards.

Does my build suck? I beat the base game quite easily, ended at around level 125, but now I'm getting my ass handed to me by the double boss fight optional missions.

So I decided to try the first DLC mission (Level 150) and and I find myself still getting my ass handed to me, basically getting killed in 2-3 hits despite having what I think is pretty good armor.

Am I just supposed to farm an area until I level up around 140 before I proceed or what? This is feeling incredibly unfun and frustrating, which is sad because I was having a blast through the main game.

I use Dual Swords primary, Odachi secondary

Body 16
Heart 31
Stamina 17
Strength 17
Skill 49
Dex 6
Magic 5
Spirit 25

Edit: Damn is there even a non-cheese way to beat those double boss fights? Every video I see on youtube is just some insane OP magic / damage from behind build.

Wow this bulky ghost bandit on a bridge is a tank. I hardly see his lifemeter go down even with carnage. My best strategy so far was using the spell that block ki regen and get him stunned as much as possible. Even then I only got at half health. Mission level is 48. I'm mid 50's, but I'm going to save this guy for later. I tried pushing him off the bridge, but he keeps rolling back on.

Yeah you just need to practice it. I’ve done most of them with no sloth, living weapon or anything like that. But it's good to have a specialised build though and damage from behind isn't anything too exotic. After a while you will start to see where your openings are. Don’t get frustrated; just practice. You don’t really lose anything by dying to them. The one with the
two ninjas
can get f**ked though.

Yeah they are tough but doable. They are surprisingly well balanced and designed as dual boss fights. It's clear they did not just throw them together without thought because their movements and behavior complement each other. I've done both at level 1 naked no buffs/debuffs. Develop a strategy and practice it enough times until you get it.

Either I'm a fucking savant or people don't know what a hard boss is. Why the fuck is
Shima Sakon
considered a hard boss? I see him topping boss ranking lists. He was one of the easiest bosses in the game. Same for the other boss from the same mission, I was using a weapon I didn't have the correct stats for, and I creamed both these clowns in one try. And I was underlevelled.

Nue and Yuki-Onna are a million times harder then both bosses put together.

man I give up. I should have just fucking called it quits after beating the main game. The difficulty jump with the first mission of the DLC is fucking ridiculous. The boss just breaks my guard with a single hit and then 2 shots me. I'm so close to just breaking my controller in half.

I guess I'm looking up the latest OP magic cheese build on YouTube and re-speccing :/ what a fucking cheap difficulty hike. I don't understand how that was given the green light at TN.

Fuck I'm so angry right now. Am I just supposed to fucking Amrita farm until I'm not underleveled? Level 129 with full familiarity divine armor and I'm getting literally 2 shot by a boss. How is this good RPG design

Yuki-Onna wasn't terribly hard - took her down after about 4 goes. As long as you can dodge her ice projectile, her other area attacks are easy to dodge because you can see them coming and you just have to roll out of the area.

Her ice projectiles are maddeningly hard to dodge. Can't ever do it consistently...

Yep I had to get 'lucky' I would say. Her first attack is usually the ice projectile, so I dodged that, used Sloth, fire talisman, took half her health down and had to dodge her projectiles and area attacks some more and then finished her off with the living guardian. There is a slight tell on her projectile, but its hard if you're rolling around like a headless chicken in close quarters combat.

Nue
is still a laughably easy boss.

I'm also not sure where you're seeing that
Shima Sakon
is a hard boss. Unless there are pages of this thread I'm missing. I agree,
Sakon
is a joke.

Most human bosses are, due to the way the stamina mechanics work.

Killed me a dozen times easily. Every other boss took me 2 tries at most. But man she wrecked me silly for a few hours. I was raging.

Ranked the hardest here
It's the number one result on Google for Nioh boss rankings. I think the ratings are a joke. And Nue is one of the hardest bosses in a Souls-like. I'm up to
Gasha-Dokuro
and other than Yuki-Onna, and Umi-Bozu (cause of that shitty one shot kill), Nue is the only difficult boss in the game. But man when the bosses are hard....THEY ARE HARD!

Edit.
Okatsu
also fucked me up for a while. She strong.
