Nioh |OT2| You Can Be My Yojimbo Anytime

I hope the DLC has new locations and new geometry.

It does say "new stages" so that's nice. And it does say we get to “venture deep into Japan’s embattled Northern provinces.”

Would love a new heavy sword weapon type. Not sure if that would mean that I have to respec from my Axe build...

This was meant to come out in April wasn't it oh well atleast they took their time and didn't rush it hype!

As for PvP i wonder what they do to balance it

I believe they've already been balancing for pvp with the last few patches, I think that gives a good idea about what they try to do to balance is.
But to summarize it's been a lot of making living weapon less broken and scaling certain absurd dmg things down. Like the 320 weapons or the nerf on the back dmg katana mystic art and some attempts in making other things more viable by buffing ninjutsu and projectile onmyou

Is there gonna be a weapon/armor lvl bump?

Are the new stages on way of the Samarui gonna be balanced around avg way of the strong end game players?

Man, yesterday I realised I have played 185 hours of this game since launch. I think I will take a break from it for a while. Finished main quest and all side missions except two of the new ones. At around level 130 I think and done the first region in Way of the Strong.

Odachi is just another type of katana. I hope the new weapon type is more significantly different...

The odachi is the new weapon type. Found the blog post that these images originate from: https://blog.eu.playstation.com/201...iohs-upcoming-dlc-update-dragon-of-the-north/

An odachi is a large, two-handed katana that's much harder to wield and is normally carried on the back, so I imagine it'll be significantly different to the standard katana (slower, hits harder, and most likely lacks iaijutsu due to its size). I am worried that it'll have a skill set too similar to the axe though.

Oh yesss, bring it to me. I shall demolish this DLC over and over and over and over....
I cannot wait, seriously!

Slightly disappointed if it really is. But that can easily be remedied if the Odachi move set is awesome. It just lacks the punch of a fundamentally different weapon like claws or sai as just another type of sword.

I love heavy slow hard hitting weapons. You just have to judge safe distances correctly and then know when to block and also know when to time your attacks.

Just impulse bought the Deluxe Edition on psn. What am I expecting?

If you didn't play any of the demos, expect to die a lot at the start, especially if you show your back to enemies. A lot of people would try the demos, get one shot by an enemy (getting hit in the back) and quit forever without giving the game a chance.

Stick with it and learn the mechanics.

Thanks for the input. Will get some booze and enjoy the night with it.

Stance factors into weapon speed as much as the type. Even the axe is quick in low stance, it's just the range (and damage) that sucks.

Even the "fastest" speed on axe feels like complete shit to me.

And note I'm not saying I can't use it. Every weapon in this game is viable. It just doesn't feel fun.

I was in high stance with the axe 90+% of the time. Low stance speed is OK for me, but the range made it stink.

I pretty much love every weapon in this game that isn't the spear, heh.

Axe is still my favorite, although I have started mixing it up with dual swords as a strong secondary. And, yep, high stance most often but not that far of ahead of the relatively speedy low. I get a lot of mileage (and laughs) out of that low stance combo that flings people at busted stamina.

Hey NiohGaf,

I'm having problems with the third boss and I heard an anti-paralysis charm would work wonders. I don't have one in my inventory. Is there a charm in the level that I just missed? I'm all out of needles.

Plz respond.

You would have to check the Blacksmith from time to time (I think it refreshes every missions?) or hope one drops.

I'll probably sound like a noob, but where is the blacksmith?

Edit: Sorry to ask a million questions. I'm just avoiding walkthroughs so I can experience the game blind. Just desperate to get past this damn boss to see the rest of the game.

No worries!

It's at the world map, and will be in the same list of menus as the shrine, dojo, etc.

There should be more tampons in gaming
A brother would love a zanpakuto! Hopefully that makes the cut in some dlc further down the road.

Sweet. Thanks for the help. Man, the systems in this game are deep, way deeper than any of the souls games. It took me forever to realize you could learn new moves and whatnot. I'm enjoying the game tremendously despite the high learning curve.

I just tried to play the demo to decide if I should get this. It was expired. Feelsbadman.

Is this good for someone loving Onimusha 1 (I did NOT like switching chars in the sequel)?

I have £13 in my wallet thanks to the voucher promo and I can't decide between this, Shadow of Mordor, Dishonored Arkham Knight or getting several games. I still have to finish Horizon once my brother is done and lends me his copy, finish Bloodborne, start Persona 5 once he's done...whyyy so many games this year.

I don't know what you will go for in the end but please take Shadow of Mordor off your list. There are actually good games released now so there is no need to look at that.

Seconded. SoM is mediocre at best, I'd almost call it trash.

@Binabik (Tad Williams! <3): if you enjoy Bloodborne, no reason you wouldn't love the shit out of Nioh. The only other game in that list that I'd really recommend is Dishonored.

Huh.

The last 2-3 days I've experienced constant crashing (error CE-34878-0) playing Nioh. Always seem to happen while in a level. It's basically unplayable at this point. Occurs after a few minutes sometimes, and other times it can take half an hour before it crashes. Reinstalled the game, still happening. Trying to reinitialize the PS4 now.

And here I was hoping to finish the game over easter, so I can get on with Persona 5.

Started Nioh yesterday after only playing the Alpha. Just defeated the 5th boss, and man am I dying quite a lot!

Especially to the bosses (looking at you,
Hino-enma
and
Nue
).

I think I already died almost as many times as I did in my Dark Souls 3 playthrough :(

I try to study the bosses' moveset and patterns but bam! Before I can learn I get two-shotted by a vicious combo or get stun locked to death. And when I die, the bosses (esp. humanoids) actually taunt me!! Heh. Strangely though, I no longer get frustrated by dying constantly.

Very much enjoying the game so far. Loving the combat, the atmosphere, and the ability to revisit the same maps with different enemies in the form of sub missions.

Currently rocking the spear, but I feel like my true calling is the sword... although I heard the swords are not that great in this game. If I main the spear for the rest of the game, what stats other than body should I be investing in?

Feel free to ignore whoever said that. Both the single katana and the dual swords are excellent weapons and the katana pool of special named weapons is easily the biggest one.

I wanna create a second character. I was thinking of doing a Nobunaga Oda build. I know I can respec and save my game on a separate save file, but I seem to remember hearing about a glitch that would auto save over your other save file with the new one. Has this been fixed?

I'm in the same boat. That error is really something it seems. I'm on PS4 Pro and it happens with Nioh, Rocket League and Lego City with me at totally random times. Started a week ago or so. Mostly after longer sessions after 1-2 hours or so. Makes everything unplayable as it is unpredictable. I contacted support and have to send it in. They are aware of this shit. The error is also one of the predefined reasons you can give for the request. Pro is (gladly) still under warranty of course.
