Ubisoft take their first No1 crown of the year as ‘Far Cry Primal’ breaks Activision Blizzard’s hold on top spot.

It’s a new look and a new launch window for the Far Cry series with Primal being the first to launch outside of Q4 since the original PC version in 2004. There’s also a second Top 3 debutant this week in the form of EA’s ‘Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2’ at No2. Oh SFV we hardly knew ye.

Now onto more important things, wonder how long Far Cry will stay up there considering it's released in Q1 and doesn't seem to have all that much buzz.

I think most games drop by 60-70% after week 1 if NPD is anything to go by.
SFV dropping by 78% isn't great but expected if you really think about the fighting game genre and the games state of launch.

If only we could get numbers for Primal. Bravely in top 10, eh. And just one place under SFV (which really collapsed compared to last week, especially given its first week's numbers)

Primal #1 as expected, and completely deserved, it's an excellent game. Shame that there are no numbers to attach to its sales.

PvZ doing well, another quality game, although I'm a bit put off by the $60 price tag, considering the first one was a freebie.

SFV cratering big time, word of mouth killed it.

This week Fifa 16 is above Call of Duty: Black Ops III (11,900), which means that last week Fifa 16 sold a minimum of 19,200 units.

So we have the following range of sales for Street fighter V:

Partially anecdotal, but it looks to me like kids seemed to have been far less ready to abandon the Xbox brand for the PS4, possibly due to growing up with the 360 being the only core gaming brand they really knew, and partly due to lack of awareness of the details of the two current gen systems and wider industry trends (I'm shocked at how few of my early teen relatives and their friends know what VR even is).

So half term would mean more kids buying games, and a lot more of them will be XO owners.

Oh, that's interesting, since we never got BD's numbers back when it was released. It really shows the difference between Holidays and normal weeks in terms of numbers overall :lol
Good hold (at least in UK, which is a pretty difficult territory for Nintendo currently) compared to the first game, at least.

Tomb raider was a complete game sold to a base less receptive to the genre. Whereas SFV is an early access game sold at full price. Both bombed for different reasons.

I think it was due to some promotion because last couple of weeks PS4 was comfortably winning against XBO.

Is it not a bit simplistic just to look at number of entries rather than total software sold ?

What you are doing just shows how many DIVERSE games people are buying that week, it does not really mean anything.

You are comparing a core fighting title, which is pretty barebones, to a really casual appealing one.

People often forget how many revisions SF got to reach their numbers. But as for a bomb for a bomb? Yeah comparable.

I think it was due to some promotion because last couple of weeks PS4 was comfortably winning against XBO.

Pretty much. I'm sure that SFV could have done similar numbers if it had the same level of marketing to be honest, but Capcom decided to sit on their hands once again. They've gotta learn that they can't just shit out games and hope for the best.

I think the issues the game is having in some peoples eyes with the early server issues, lack of content and ongoing rage quit issues had only a small effect on week 1 sales but have hurt the legs already. If EVO bumps happen like some people are predicting, they won't be happening in the UK. I almost guarantee it.
