Strapping Young Lad - "City" (1997)

Devin Townsend - "Ocean Machine: Biomech" (1997)

you, sir, are AWESOME for posting those two. City, in particular, is the sound of pure hatred and nihilism in the modern life, and for that alone is the best SYL album in my opinion.

Dark Side of the Moon
Abbey Road
Rubber Soul
Revolver
Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin IV
Animals
Pet Sounds
Nevermind
Discovery

Edit: damn, nice bump lol

Beck- Sea Change
Pearl Jam- Ten/ No Code
Nirvana- Nevermind/ Unplugged
Pink Floyd- The Wall
Metallica- Master of Puppets
Joanna Newsom- The Milk Eyed Minder
A Fine Frenzy- One Cell in the Sea
Sleater Kinney- One Beat
The Beatles- Abbey Road/Revolver
STP- Purple
Yeah Yeah Yeahs- Its Blitz
The Strokes- First Imressions
Radiohead- The Bends/ Kid A

I mean perfect is tough, but, I give these albums 90% consistently great.

I base this on consistency over the course of each album.

Ten by Pearl Jam for instance is maybe my sixth favorite album they have made. But there is no shit track on that album.

Same with Abbey Road by the Beatles. I actually prefer maybe three albums over Revolver and Abbey Road, but those those are as close as you can get to perfect albums. Give me The White Album, Magical Mystery, and SGT Peppers any day of the week, but they have more flaws and lesser tracks

Same with In Utero which is my favorite Nirvana album. Nevermind is consistently great, but In Utero has most of my favorite moments from that bands career.

3 albums come to mind,

Brand New - The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me

Steely Dan - Aja

American Football - S/T

EDIT: okay didn't realize I was posting in a thread from 2011 whoops. REGARDLESS those are three great albums.

Yay for The Cars self titled. That is a perfect album.
Yup, it's imo the best album ever recorded. Like Boston's debut album every song is a radio hit. It's too bad Benjamin Orr passed away as his voice was a great balance with Ric Ocasek's.

Cradle of Filth:Dusk and Her Embrace, Cruelty and the Beast

Hecate Enthroned: Slaughter of Innocence, Dark Requiems

Megadeth: Rust in Peace

Iron Maiden: Number of the Beast

The Beatles: Rubber Soul
Bob Dylan: John Wesley Harding
Outkast: ATLiens
Frank Ocean: Channel Orange

I listened to the entirety of Thriller for the first time recently, and I understood why it's considered one of the best albums ever. Because it is. It's quite amazing.

Achtung-Baby.jpg

U2 - Achtung Baby (Probably my favorite album of all time. The sound defined the band and the decade in rock music in the 90s.)

R-136430-1331632356.jpeg.jpg

Daft Punk - Discovery (What can't be said but other then flawless from start to finish. The good times album when I first heard in HS and only gets better with age).

Blink-182.jpg

Blink-182 - Blink-182 (Was such a fitting swan song for the band at the time. Perfectly summed up their career in 49 mins).

Already seen Endtroducing... a few times but goddamn I can only reiterate how perfect I find this album

This may well be my most listened to album of all time. Not even sure why, but I can always come back to this.

Not the choices everyone would make, but it ain't Bruno Mars.
I think you and I would be friends in real life. Actually got to see The Refreshments play live years ago in Nashville.

People still think my beautiful dark twisted fantasy is a perfrct album?

The Low End Theory is perfect, though. So is that one pixies album with the monkey on it

Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster

This right here is peak Gaga. And its amazing. Where as The Fame was an exploration of Fame and Opulence The Fame Monster deals with various insecurities that Gaga had/has. Its deeply personal and at the same time works as a pure pop album from a pure entertainment angle as well.

Bad Romance is still one of my favorite songs of all time.

Fates Warning - Awaken the Guardian
Mastodon - Crack the Skye
Black Sabbath - Heaven & Hell
Rainbow - Rising
Jackson Browne - Late for the Sky (my personal vote for best lyrics in a single album ever)
Marillion - Clutching at Straws

Alcest - Ecailles De Lune
Blind Guardian - Imaginations from the other side
Cunninlynguists - Oneirology
David Maxim Micic - Bilo 3.0
Death - Symbolic
Deftones - Diamond Eyes
dredg - El Cielo
Fair to Midland - Fables from a Mayfly: what I tell you three times is true
Faith No More - The real thing
Glassjaw - Everything you ever wanted to know about silence
Kayo Dot - Choirs of the eye
maudlin of the Well - Bath
Propagandhi - Supporting Caste
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Submotion Orchestra - Finest Hour
The Dillinger Escape Plan - Option Paralysis
Thrice - Illusion of Safety
X Japan - Art of Life

Honourable mentions:

After Forever - After Forever
Anberlin - Cities
Cynic - Focus
Dark Tranquillity - Damage Done
Dark Tranquillity - Fiction
Kenn Nardi - Dancing with the past
Lost Horizon - A flame to the ground beneath
Pearl Jam - Ten
Strung Out - Exile in Oblivion
Symphony X - The divine wings of tragedy
The Gathering - Nighttime birds

I've always liked Rage for Order better then Operation Mindcrime.

Operation Mindcrime builds upon what Queensryche accomplished with Rage for Order. The songwriting is better and the Geoff Tate is just godly. As much as I like Rage for Order, in my opinion, Mindcrime is a better record. But, to each his own, I guess.

Sound-Awake-cover.jpg

An absolute progressive rock masterpiece. Beautifully written songs, melodies, and lyrics. Amazing instrumental work. It tops Tool's "Lateralus" in terms of scope and feel, IMO.

Just flawless beginning to end.

I totally get that, but I tend to listen to Rage more.
